Rememberance Day part 3

I turned my head, still twerking, to see Ramil in the doorway with a frown on his face. He was looking at me strangely. Was it disgust? The song finished and I straightened up and smiled at all the girls still dancing. "You can't tell me you've never seen girls dance like that before!" I laughed at him. I turned away and grabbed another snack platter from the fridge and emptied another box of crackers into a bowl. "Our women don't usually dance like that!" He said with his eyes wide. "No, they just flit about elegantly with next to nothing on!" I retorted. "Would you mind grabbing this for me?" I handed him the bowl with crackers in it. "I need to grab the pickles." He took the bowl from me, and I grabbed the pickle jar from the fridge and a fork putting them both on the platter. "Don't you want a bowl for the pickles?" Ramil asked me. "Actually I probably should. I can't monopolise all the pickles." I said thinking out loud. I grabbed another couple of forks and a couple of small bowls. I also grabbed the pickled onions and the olive jars from the pantry. "Okay. All set." Ramil reached over and grabbed the large pickle jar off the tray and we carried the snacks outside. The men folk took an uninterested look over and kept drinking. The ladies flocked to the snacks on the table, their eyes lighting up. I scooped out most of the pickles into one of the bowls and took the rest in the jar for myself. I opened the onions and the olives and emptied those into bowls as well. I helped myself to crackers and cubes of cheese in between eating pickles straight from the jar. Elyssa reached for the pickles at the same time as Kayla did. "What is it about being pregnant and eating pickles?" Kayla asked waving at Elyssa to go ahead, and waiting her turn. "No idea." Elyssa responded shoving a whole pickle in her mouth and groaning happily. "But they are soooo good!" Elderon whispered to Fanvier "As long as she moans more for my pickle than the jar kind, it's fine." Fanvier smirked at him. "Lucky for you, they aren't usually that large from a jar." They chuckled and clinked their glasses together before having another drink. I snickered quietly. Got to love having werewolf hearing. "How many 'in the middle of the night' pickle cravings have you sent your intended for?" Kayla asked Elyssa. "Too many to count!" Laughed Elyssa. "I get up to grab them myself, but Elderon spoils me by telling me to stay in bed, and he goes and brings the jar back in for me." Ramil was looking at me with a question in his eyes glancing at the pickle jar and then to me again. I looked back at him and kept munching on the pickles. I decided to ignore the unspoken question between us. "How come you got the short end of the stick and had to be the one to drive those two drunkards home?" I asked him pointing to the laughing Elderon and Fanvier. "I owed Elderon for driving my drunk fairy behind back home from my intended's house, when I became too inebriated to drive myself." "Your intended? Congratulations!" "Thank you Alpha Adiera, but we ripped up the marriage contract and publicly rejected each other in front of our very ticked off parents." His eyes were serious and sad. "Oh. I'm sorry to hear that." Fk! I totally read that wrong! "No need to be sorry Alpha Adiera. It was an arrangement between our parents. She's a lovely lady, but there was never a spark between us. Truthfully, I felt the same way about her as I would presume I'd feel about a distant cousin. Terribly awkward and not a pinch of attraction. I wanted her to be free to pursue a love match, instead of being miserable with me." "Do you have a habit of making people miserable?" I jested with a smile. His dark eyes seemed to twinkle in amusement. "I don't know. I've never felt the need to seek out the company of others, except a select few." "I know that feeling." "I'm surprised by that. You seem to command attention well." "I've learned to be better at it." I admitted. "I always was a quiet serious child who enjoyed reading, writing and learning to fight over dressing up nice, shopping or trying to get boys' attention." "I bet they flocked to you anyway." I snorted and I'm sure I went a bit red. "My Dad and my brother are both Alpha's. I'm sure you've heard how posessive Alpha's are?" He nodded. "If anyone did make any sort of eyes at me, it was from so far away I never noticed." Ramil looked surprised and curious all in one. "No long string of broken hearts left behind when you found your mate?" "Nope. Not even one! Lame huh?" "Not really if you think about it. Less drama for Alpha Augustus. No one to be jealous over or for him to be worried about wooing you away from him." I snorted. "Yeah, the mate bond tends to help with clingy ex's." My eyes narrowed on Marissa making her rounds flirting with the unmated males. "I just wish more clingy ex's would find their mates." Ramil followed my line of sight. "Is that one of Gus's ex's?" He whispered. "She introduced herself earlier, but I've forgotten what her name was." I was happy to hear she wasn't worth remembering. "Yeah. She would not leave him alone, so I threw her in the dungeon, then banned her from coming back." I spoke low near his ear so we wouldn't be overheard. "How long since you've seen her?" "2 years. I'm surprised she didn't make a scene during the ceremony." "She knew she wouldn't get away with it. Everyone would be on the grieving Alpha's side." He paused. "Especially a pregnant grieving Alpha." I looked at him, and he looked back at me with just as much intensity. "The pickles gave me away didn't they?" I said smiling at him. "Actually it was your scent. Pregnant werewolves always smell more potent when they are carrying. The pickles were just a confirmation of my suspicions." "How was many pregnant werewolves are you usually around?" I asked with a raised eyebrow. It was his turn to flush. "I read it in 'Supernaturals of the world' book. But I have been around a few in my line of work." "Oh? What do you do?" He looked at me for an extra long moment. I hoped it wasn't anything bad. I had read some disturbing things about faries in books too. "I play instruments at the palace for entertainment. Violin mostly. I am also in the royal army." "That doesn't surprise me. You have long elegant fingers. Do you have a preference for weapons?" "Every fairy knows how to use a bow and arrows, but I prefer my short swords. One in each hand." Ramil looked at me to gauge my reaction. "Would you teach me?" He studied my face. "Elderon and Fanvier have told me you have had some weapons training. But it would be interesting to see your skill level for myself." He seemed deep in thought. "I will come tomorrow to evaluate you, if that is alright with you?" "Yes, but you will need to test Stella too." He brow wrinkled slightly. "Stella?" "Yes. My best friend who I always train with." She looked around until she spotted her. "There!" I waved at my bestie. Stella caught my eye, smiled and waved back. Stella seemed to be enjoying herself. She looked around the room. Zane was keeping an eye on Kayla nearby. He caught my eye. His face instantly darkened looking at Ramil next to me. He made his way over looking casually in their direction but I wasn't fooled. "Hey Zane." Kayla came over and stretched her arms around Zane and he instinctively wrapped his arms around her, tucked her under his arm then kissed her lovingly on the forehead. His storm cloud face didn't go away though. "Ramil? Was it?" "Yes Alpha Zane." Ramil shallow bowed at him politely. Zane inclined his head and shallow bowed back. "What are you two talking about over here?" Zane said it to both of us but was staring at Ramil. "Weapons training." I answered him. "Ramil is taking over for Elderon when Elyssa has bubby Sprite!" Zane's face seemed to relax slightly. "You're not drinking tonight Ramil?" "Not tonight Alpha Zane. I am being what I believe you would call a 'designated driver' for the evening." Stella mind linked me. "Want to dance?" "Sure!" I turned to Ramil. "I've got to go. If I don't get a chance to speak with you again tonight, I'll see you tomorrow?" He nodded. He almost looked sad that I was leaving. It was probably just nice for him to have someone to talk to. I heard our DJ Davey talk over the microphone as Stella and I headed out to the back yard. "This song is dedicated to our Alpha Adiera!" The opening notes for the GNR song 'Sweet child' rang out over the speakers as Stella and I did the swinging hips Axel dance with our arms out. It always cracked us both up doing it when we were younger. It made it even funnier her being drunk and loose while we sang along. I noticed lots more peeps were coming out and dancing with us too. When that song finished someone yelled out Welcome to the Jungle! The boys ran out and started thrashing around like they were in a mosh pit, which cracked us up. "Can you put on Single Ladies after this one please Davey?" He nodded with a big grin on his face. "MeiLee? Tell all the girls to get ready for the next song!" "It better be Beyonce!" "You know it!" The next song came on and all the boys got swamped! It was hilarious! Zane then started twerking on Kayla which set of a chain reaction of all the blokes twerking on their mates! Stella was twerking on me, to which I pretended to smack her butt. I looked over at Ramil looking on at us, and his eyes looked like they were bugging out of his head! Hahaha! Actually so was my Dad's! I laughed even harder seeing his face! I needed to pee so bad from laughing too much! I took off to the pack house communal bathrooms, once the song had finished, as I didn't have the time to go up to mine. Oh good! The stalls were empty! Ah! Relief! Until I heard the door open and that annoying voice grated on my ears. "Can you divorce your own Alpha? She is so freaking up herself." "You're lucky you weren't banished Marissa. Alpha Adiera was very lenient on you with all the crap you pulled. Any other Alpha would have made you a rogue or even killed you!" "I swear Caliapie I should have been mated to a ranked wolf by now!" "Well you're the dumb one that rejected your mate!" "I just wanted to move up in station, not go backwards!" "How is it going backwards if you're an Omega?" "Did you see mousy Katie was fated to Zane's Gamma? Ugh... I have the worst luck!" I flushed and walked out to wash my hands. "Luck? Pfft! Sweetheart, I think the word you're looking for is karma." Marissa said nothing. She pursed her lips, turned on her heels and walked out. Caliapie stood there and hid a laugh. "I think her rejected mate dodged a bullet with that one." I said quietly to Caliapie. "Oh, he totally did! He's a trainee mechanic in Town. He got a second chance mate soon after and they have already marked each other!" We headed back outside. "Caliapie, are you happy to take over the care of the Town pack house when your parents retire?" "They're retiring???" Caliapie's voice sounded panicky. "Not that I'm aware of, but it's good to be prepared for these things." I laughed at her reaction. "I guess I'm just putting the feelers out for what you'd like to do?" "Can I have a think about it?" "Of course you can! Have a talk with your parents and Sage, and get back to me with an answer." "Thanks Alpha." I nodded to her and she went and joined her friends. I made my way back to the yard. I could still hear music, but it wasn't what I was expecting. Everyone including my parents were dancing to some mushy love song music! I'm sure I was standing there with my mouth open. "The music not to your taste?" Ramil was beside me when a moment ago he wasn't. "Not what I was expecting. But it's nice to see the older gen out there having a bit of fun." I smiled watching them all. "I like this type of music. I suppose I'd be classed as older gen too." "How old are you Ramil?" "186. I'm still a teenager in fairy years, though I know how it must sound to you." He said quietly looking down. I hoped I hadn't made him embarrassed with my question. "I know fairies have a much longer lifespan than werewolves. I'm not completely ignorant to your ways." The song finished and my parents walked over. I gave them each a hug. "Thank you for having us Adiera. We're going to head off as it's getting late. We'll see you again soon sweetie." "Thanks for coming. It was lovely to have you!" Kayla and Zane walked over too and there were more rounds of goodbyes and hugs. Derryk joined us with Emily and some of the warriors that were headed home to the Black Claw pack. I walked them out while their car was brought round. Elderon, Elyssa, Fanvier and Ramil were next and I gave them all hugs goodbye even though Ramil stiffened up like a board. "I'll see you tomorrow" I said to him and he gave me a short nod just before shutting the car door. Our Town members left shortly after that. I was stuffed. It had been a long day, so I said my goodnights to my still partying pack members and headed up for a shower and bed. I could still hear the music, but it was nice that everyone was enjoying themselves and soon I was fast asleep.
