Maia paused in front of Keir and reached out, desperation in her eyes. "Keir, I am sorry," she said quietly, her fingers just inches from his arm. But Keir backed away, his expression hard, refusing to let her touch him.
The words poured out of her, tumbling over each other as she tried to make sense of everything. "I did not intend for it to happen like this. I thought I could reject Cian. I swear I tried, but I couldn't. And I promised myself that I would tell you the truth." Her voice broke as she explained, "When I received the message from Jazmine, I had no idea it was Cian, Keir.
