Keir awoke to a rush of unfamiliar strength coursing through his body. His senses became sharper, his eyes seeing every detail with painful clarity, and his sense of smell overwhelmed him. Disoriented, he struggled to catch his breath, a surge of panic rising within him. Just then, a soft voice spoke beside him, grounding him.
“It’s okay. You are in a hospital," the voice assured him, and Keir turned, hyperventilating as his memories flooded back—fragments of the accident, the truck that appeared out of nowhere, the blinding headlights, and the sickening crunch of metal as it collided with his car. He remembered the terror that gripped him just before everything went black.
