I stared at one of the men while he spoke to Cian, but I could not make out what he was saying. My hands scurried to the door and pushed it open. However, Cian turned around and raised his hand to signal me to remain where I was before I could exit the car.
Calm but with a tenseness in his shoulders that made me feel cold, he approached. “What’s going on?” As he leaned in to meet my eyes and opened my door, I asked in a tremulous voice. “Who are these people?”
