My eyes scanned the room. Her stuff is still there but where could she be? My eyes landed on the closed bathroom door. I walked up to it and pressed my ear against the door. I heard something that sounded like sniffing coming from the inside. It was so faint I barely heard it. And I'm not surprised that my mother didn't hear it. In her frantic state, she wouldn't have heard anything but her own heartbeat.
I knocked on the door and whispered to her. "Lillibeth, are you okay?" I heard some sniffles but she didn't respond. I opened the door slightly and smelled her scent hit me. I linked my mother and told her that I'd found her. "Lillibeth?" I slowly opened the door with a creak. I poke my head in ever so slightly and see her sitting with her legs on her chest and her head on her knees.
