7. Meeting the family

Wolf's POV Ever since Red has brought up this Little Boy Blue, she seems to be on edge. Even after I tried to reassure her that I wouldn't let anything happen to her, but she just scuffs before smiling at me. I wish I knew what she was thinking. But I'm sure once we get to the packhouse she'll calm down. We entered the pack territory last night. I must just ask my father if he knows about this Little Boy Blue. "We are almost there. Are you ready?" I asked her. She looked up at me with a small smile. "Lillibeth, everything will be fine." She nodded her head before she looked ahead. I smiled down at her as I took her hand in mine and led the way. I pulled her along as some of the pack members started to follow us in their wolf form to the packhouse. Once the packhouse was in full view, I saw my mother, father, and the twins standing in front of the majority of the pack and the packhouse. I heard Red gulp as we started to walk towards them. I give her hand a little squeeze, trying to offer as much encouragement as I can in this new environment. "Welcome back Damien." My mother almost sobbed as she hugged me. She has a few more grey hairs than the last time I saw her. "Welcome back brother." The twins sang out as they jumped at me the first chance they got when my mother had let me go. I had to let go of Lillibeth's hand, otherwise, if I had fallen I would have taken her with me. I held the twins up. I didn't realize I had missed my family this much until they all surrounded me. "Okay, guys, I missed you too but you're not kids anymore." I chuckled as I put them down. I looked over at my mother who was busy inspecting poor Red. I look at Red and notice that she's looking around at the pack members that are staring at her. I took her hand, she looked up at me before I gestured to my parents and the twins. "Lillibeth, this is my mother." I gestured towards my mother, who took that split second to pull her in for a hug, "Call me Cathrine."My mother sang out joyishly. Red tensed up at the sudden contact. My mother's face turned pale as she pulled away. "Why are you armed with silver?" She said as she walked back to my father. "She had a run-in with someone called 'Little Boy Blue'." I glanced down at her as she stared wide-eyed up at me. "You poor thing." My mother said as she held onto my father's arm. "So you have heard of him." I look up at him. My father looked down at my mother before he looked back at me. "Let us go inside and speak." My father said as he made his way into the pack-house. I look back at Red as the twins crowded around her. She looked between both of them. Not allowing them to intimidate her. "You two back off.". I said while I picked them up and moved them away from her. I took her hand and pulled her into the packhouse. We stopped inside the Alpha's office... My office. After so many years, it hasn't changed. They kept it the way I had it before I left. Bookshelves behind the desk and on the opposite wall behind the couches. They were half empty but they had a knick-knack of some sort on each shelf. My desk... My dark brown, almost black desk stood opposite the door. Two chairs were stationed in front of the desk. The couch was stationed further back, allowing more room for chairs if needed for those large meetings. The wall that had the door entering the office was littered with pack portraits and on the other side were windows and portraits of the Alpha's and their mates. I had the couch moved into the office after Crystal died. I couldn't stand being in the room with her scent and things any longer. I also had the portrait of Crystal and myself removed. So I would sleep in the office on the couch if I didn't fall asleep at my desk. "First a proper introduction.". I said as I gestured to her, "Mother, Xavier, and Bradley. This is my new mate, Lillibeth von Struker." I said, gesturing to Lillibeth. "Von Struker?" My father said as he looked at her. She nodded her head as she put her stuff down on the floor. "Xander is something wrong?" My mother said while touching his arm. My father shook his head before he gestured for Bradley to close the door. "You met Little Boy Blue?" My father asked us. "Lillibeth has, but I didn't.". I said as I sat on the couch and pulled her down next to me. "How did you survive?" Xavier and Bradley said in unison as they folded their arms against their chest. "Little Boy Blue is only a third-rate killer." She said as she moved one knee over the other. She crossed her arms against her chest and looked up at them with an unimpressed look. What she said pissed the twins off, something furious. "He's killed almost half of the town's people. Even landed up killing some of our pack members." They both spat out at her. "I doubt that some little girl would have been a match for him." She gave her head a slight nod. "You're right. I'm way better than he will ever be." The twins gulped as my mother stepped behind my father. "What do you mean?" My father said, staring daggers at her, as he almost growled out his words. I started to growl at him and his tone at her. "Damien, butt out. They will find out eventually." She said as she reached behind her and pulled out her silver dagger. She walked up to my father, earning her a growl the closer she got to them. She slammed the dagger on the table and made her way back to me. "Like Little Boy Blue, I have also acquired my own nickname." She said as she stared straight into my father's eyes. "They called me the Little Red Psychopath." My father was the first to break the eye contact and the tension in the room became so dense I felt like I couldn't breathe. He looked down at the desk. "Little Red....." My mother mumbled. Red turned to her and softened her gaze. "Yes. Compared to me, Blue is a novice." "You've killed hundreds of people..... And you expect to be let in this pack?!" My father growled at her. I growled back at him. 'How dare he growl at my mate.' Raphael was inches away from snapping. "Damien!" She gave me a quick glare before she turned back to my father. "Two hundred and forty-seven, to be exact." She moved her head side by side. "Two hundred and forty-seven rapists, murders, abuses, and more." She stared at my father's face. "Killing is killing, no matter what your reasons behind it are." She raised her brow as a small sadistic smile appeared on her face. "Oh, so when you torture and kill a rogue? Is that not the same? You kill them so they won't kill or harm others and get labeled warriors and heroes. I do it and get labeled a psychopath." "How dare you speak to me like that?!" My father growled loudly at her. "Truth hurts." She spat. "Xander, she's right." My mother said, putting her hand on his shoulder. "Listen to her heartbeat. She's telling the truth." My mother stepped next to my father. My father sat back in the chair and tried to breathe his anger away. "So why, pray tell, is he still alive if you two meet?" My father said with a glare. "I stopped killing like a year ago. I never stayed long enough in a place to find out stuff because of a bunch of hunters that were on my tail." She said lowly. "I met Blue in the past. We came to an agreement to stay out of each other's way." Everyone's eyes widened in shock. "You made an agreement with him?" My mother said. "That means you can get rid of him?" Red shrugged her shoulders. "One way or the other." She said as she took the holsters off, and put them down on top of the basket that had the daggers in it. She pushed it with her foot towards the twins. Everyone eyed all the daggers. "Feeling better now?" She asked them. "I'm unarmed." She said, looking towards my father. "Why would you do that?" My father breathed out. She must have confused him, they didn't know that she had them on, but she was trying to prove she wasn't a threat, at least not to us. "Trust." She said and sat back on the couch. "Once you gain a nickname with Psychopath in it, trust goes out the window before you get to know me." The twins slid their way to the basket and started to dig through them. "She has loads of them.". Xavier shouted out. "They all have names on them..." Bradley added. "Would you like to pat me down to make sure I'm not lying?" She stared straight at my father. "What do your parents think of what you've done with your life? Are they proud?" He asked her bitterly. Immediately earning him a slap on his chest from my mother. "I don't know. I'm no witch, so I can't talk to the dead." She said unamused. "Dead?" My father and mother asked at the same time. She nodded her head. "Yeah. I'm pretty sure they are dead. Otherwise, the villagers buried them alive." She said, a small smile tugging at her lips. "When?" My father's voice sounded shaky. Which was unlike him. "A while... F...." She bit down on her tongue as she was about to swear. "I think I was six at the time." She said as she looked up at the ceiling, trying to remember. My father stared down at his desk as if he had just been told that his best friend had died. Red uncrossed her arms. "So do you trust me now? Or are we going to continue to play twenty questions while Blue is still skulking about?" My father's head shot up from the table. "How do we know you didn't get a witch to bewitch you so you can kill more people?" She raised her brow before turning to me. "Firstly," She said as she turned back to my father. "If I wanted to kill more people, I had a pack of hunters behind me for two years who would have been the first choice. Secondly, why would I deliberately walk into the middle of a pack's territory, unarm myself, and be sitting in the room with the 5 strongest members of the pack?" She looked back at me before pointing her thumb back at me. "Thirdly, ask him. He's the one who said we're mates." My mother looked at me. "It's true. Raph has never been so happy since we lost Crystal." My mother's eyes softened towards Red. The twins looked at each other. Maybe because I was able to say Crystal's name without hassle. "Crystal even came to me in my dreams, confirming that she was happy that I had been blessed with another mate." Red's eyes widened before she turned to me. "And you guys are accusing me of witchcraft?" The twins started laughing at her comment. My father found himself amused by her reaction. My mother let out a breathing chuckle. "Father, to reject her you reject me. And we might as well head back to where we came from." I said to him as I put my hand on Red's. She looked down at my hand before she looked up at me. "We are not rejecting either one of you." My father said. "If she did mean us harm, she had the opportunity when she had two alphas at arm's length." My father closed his eyes before he looked up at Red with a warming smile like he did when he met her. "We would be honored if you would join our pack." My father said to her. Red's eyes fluttered open like she couldn't believe what he had just said before they returned to her serious face. "Thank you." She said as she gave her head a nod. "But Little Boy Blue is now the main concern." She said as she nudged forward. "How long has he been here?" She asked with a raised brow. "Every since Damien has left." My mother said to her. My father looked up at her somewhat annoyed. My eyes widened as it clicked. I left my pack and allowed the serial killer to move in. I left my father and brothers to take this on by themselves. My head was swelling around with those thoughts when Red spoke and brought me back to the conversation. "That's unlike him. He normally stays in one place no longer than six months." She held her chin and thought. "Have you noticed any new faces in the town?" She raised her brow in curiosity. "There was a couple of men and a woman that came into town with an old bald guy.". Bradley said as Xander nodded. "Did the old guy have a cane with a wolf's head for a handle?" She narrowed her eyes at the twins. They both looked at each other, probably mind linking before they nodded. "Yes. How did you know?" Red tensed up as she sat forward. "I take it that we should be very concerned.". My father as he sat forward. Red closed her eyes before she rubbed them. "Word of advice, suspend all travel plans for the whole pack. Especially around and within the town's perimeter." She said as she opened her eyes. "There's only one reason why Argent comes to any town." She stared at my father. "And that's to get new recruits." She said as everyone seemed to have held their breaths. "Since Blue has been here, has he killed any children?" She moved onto the edge of the seat. "We don't know. Two children from the pack went missing, but we haven't found any bodies." Her eyes narrowed as I could start feeling her anger. "I take it both were boys. Between the ages of six and nine." She looked at my father. Her words sounded like a statement rather than a question. "Yes." My mother nodded. Red looked down at the ground. "Argent trains, what he likes to call, specialized hunters." She stood up. "I'm not gonna lie and say that I know whether those kids are alive or not. But one thing I'm sure of, the ones that are still alive are being trained to be cold-hearted killers." She said, looking at the table. I looked at where she was, but I couldn't see what she was looking at. "So what do you suggest?" My father said. "I will need to find their base of operation." My heart dropped at that. "No!" I growled at her. There is no way I'm sending her somewhere so dangerous. She glared at me. Her eyes had a glimmer of silver before they returned to normal. "It is not up for debate, Damien. I'm the only one who can get close to them." She turned back to my father. "Do you know which part of the town they are preoccupying?" I grabbed her shoulder and pulled her back. "You are not going to go near them!" I growled at her. She raised her brow and stared at me. "What is your plan then?" She looked unamused. "I'll think of something that doesn't involve me losing another mate.". I growled at her. Her eyes widened as my words hit her. Her gaze softened as she lifted her hand and rested it on my cheek, bringing me some comfort. "Damien, it's recon work." She said. "I can gain their trust easily." She said softly to me. "No..." I whimpered to her. She smiled sweetly at me before she put her hand through my hair. "I'm not asking for permission. I'm going to do this with or without your blessing." She said. I growled at her. "Not if I lock you up." She chuckled, "I'd like to see you try." She turned back to my father. "Is there anything else you think we should be doing?" He asked her. "Yeah.". She said, "Do not engage, under any circumstances." She said as she looked back at me. "Argent is French for silver. And he likes to make an example of any wolf he gets his hands on." I hear the twins gulp. "So how are we going to get rid of him?" My father asked. I saw her signature sadistic smile tug at her lips. "Leave that to me." My eyes widened as I seemed to feel her excitement when she said that. She's looking forward to killing him? Or is she going to run him out? No, she's definitely going to kill him. "You will not be doing that alone.". I said as I tugged on her arm. She rolled her arms. "One more thing. Do not, under any circumstances, get in my way." She pulled her arm away from me. Everyone froze. She looked at my father. "Once the children are safe, Argent is mine." My father nodded before his mind linked me. 'Why does she want him so badly?' He came in with the twins at the same time. 'I don't know.' I said back through the link to them. "You two must be tired." My father said while he stood up. "Damien, why don't you go show Lillibeth to your room." She stood up and picked up her dagger from the table before she placed it in the basket with the rest of her daggers.
