Chapter 1 Disguised As a Man
In the hospital ward, Ashley Rivera's gaze was fixed intently upon the figure resting motionlessly before her. The once robust and muscular form of the man had been whittled down to a mere skeletal shadow by his illness, igniting a tumultuous storm of rage and sorrow within her heart.
"Bro, I've passed Hansen Gardner's bodyguard selection process. Don't worry, I will find out the man who did this to you!"

"Mr. Gardner is a fair man. He's very strict with his employees, so even his bodyguards have to be the best ones, or they'd be fired any time. Of course, if you do a good job and impress Mr. Gardner, there's a chance he might promote you to his personal bodyguard!"
The captain of bodyguards warned as he gave Ashley a tour of the work environment.
Ashley nodded solemnly, acknowledging the advice. However, in truth, she preferred Hansen not to notice her.
In the midst of this exchange, another bodyguard made his approach, noticeable from a distance. Upon reaching them, he extended a cursory greeting to the captain before turning his attention to Ashley, his gaze laden with scorn.
"So, you're the newcomer?" He scoffed. "With that size, I'm not even sure you can protect yourself; how are you going to protect Mr. Gardner? You'd be lucky if you could last longer than a day!"
While he laughed discriminately, Hansen happened to emerge from the villa.
Suddenly, Ashley sensed a glint of reflected light from somewhere.
"Watch out!" she exclaimed as she pounced at Hansen, pressing him down to the ground. In this split second, a bullet merely skimmed their face and landed on the floor!
And with that, though Ashley preferred to be unnoticed by Hansen, this act ensured the exact opposite. On her very first day on the job, she already caught Hansen's attention.
Hansen sized up the petite teenager beside him, noticing his smooth, short hair, pale skin, delicate features, and large, round eyes reminiscent of a sly little fox.
"What's your name?" His voice was calm yet intimidating.
Ashley lowered her head and responded softly, "Ashley Rivera."
She decided not to use an alias, for her name was gender-neutral.
Hansen wasn't exactly satisfied with his figure and response, but he could not ignore the fact that this kid had indeed just saved his life. Thus, after some pondering, he made up his mind and declared, "You'll be my personal bodyguard from now on!"
Ashley was frustrated. Becoming Hansen's bodyguard was only a means to an end, all for the sake of her elder brother, Larry Rivera.
Larry was an average Joe who was inadvertently entangled in a sinister plot aimed at taking the life of the billionaire Hansen Gardner. This unfortunate series of events left him in a comatose state. Thus, Ashley disguised herself as a man and got a position in Hansen's bodyguard team, aiming to find out the truth about her brother's incident.

A few days later, Ashley was invited by her best friend, Olivia Sanford, to attend the latter's grandfather's birthday banquet. As soon as Ashley stepped into the banquet hall, she became the center of attention.
The tight-fit maroon backless gown accentuated her curves perfectly, swaying softly with every stride she took; she was the epitome of allure and grace. Her skin was a healthy shade of white, tender and smooth; her lips, red and dewy, rivaled the allure of rose petals in full bloom; her big eyes, mesmerizingly beautiful, mirrored the vastness and mystery of the galaxy. Elegantly gathering her lustrous hair at the nape, she secured it with a silver clip, which twinkled softly under the ambient lighting, casting an aura of enigmatic charm around her.
In this banquet hall, brimming with guests, her entrance was akin to the dazzling appearance of a comet, mysterious and breathtaking, captivating the undivided attention of everyone present.
Suddenly, a commotion erupted from the door, and a tall figure adorned in an elegant light gray suit entered the hall.
His expression was solemn, his hair meticulously groomed backward, accentuating the flawless contours of his distinguished features. Beneath his prominent nose, his lips formed a subtle upward curve, emanating an indescribable air of pride. His eyes, a mesmerizing shade of cyan, were as profound as the abyss of the ocean, yet they possessed a hint of sharpness as if piercing through the very essence of all he observed. His presence was aloof and enigmatic, compelling others with an irresistible urge to draw near yet simultaneously instilling a sense of trepidation to do so.
Hansen Gardner!
Ashley's eyes widened in shock. Why was her boss here?
A crowd of socialites had already gathered at the door by now, fixing their gazes on him, their bodies rooted to the spot.
At this moment, Hansen undoubtedly occupied the epicenter of all attention. His demeanor bore the grandeur of an emperor, bestowing his presence upon everyone, emanating a formidable yet captivating aura as he strolled to the heart of the hall.
Halting before Olivia's grandfather, Justin Sanford, Hansen presented his gift.
Ashley was standing right beside Justin, so it was too late for her to leave. Thus, she could only pretend not to know Hansen, gazing at him with curiosity like everyone else.
Sizing this man up at such a close distance augmented her appreciation for his handsomeness even further. His fingers were slender, with each joint pronounced. Even the simplest act of holding his wine glass emitted an air of not only elegance but composure and fortitude. Upon exchanging handshakes with Justin, his brows arched subtly upward, betraying a sense of supreme confidence. His azure eyes sparkled with a glint of superior intellect, captivating as though they contained a bottomless sea within.
It was only at this moment that Ashley realized that Hansen's charm stemmed not solely from his striking physical appearance but equally from an interior temperament marked by sophistication and grace.
From the perspective of not his bodyguard but a woman, she had to admit Hansen was undeniably attractive. In fact, she even slightly lamented the fact that she couldn't engage with him as freely as the other female guests could.
While Ashley engaged in a meticulous examination of Hansen amidst the crowd, he, in turn, noticed her almost instantly. Her features bore such a refined delicacy that she resembled a living piece of art, especially those vibrant and enigmatic eyes, which appeared to contain so many untold stories, urging others to delve deeper into her essence. That red gown she adorned not only heightened her allure but also lent her an air of surreal beauty, rendering her as enticingly dangerous as the mythological carnivorous sirens.
Hansen felt his heartbeat accelerate and his palms sweat. It seemed he had fallen for this woman at first sight!
Meanwhile, after scrutinizing Hansen anxiously for a considerable duration, Ashley finally heaved a sigh of relief, realizing that he had not recognized her.
However, the next moment, he suddenly asked, "Have we met before?"
