On her day off, Ashley got a call from Olivia inviting her to a piano concert.
She happily agreed.
As she rummaged through her closet for something to wear, a certain red dress caught her eye.
Looking at it, Ashley couldn't help but be flooded with memories.
She remembered the night she fell into the water and how Hanson had saved her. Despite his tough and distant exterior, he had a gentleman's grace and tenderness within.
Maybe that was why, in the wine cellar, she was willing to share that intimate night with a drunken Hanson.
Smiling sweetly at the thought, she couldn't resist slipping into the red dress.
Moments later, the mirror reflected a mysterious beauty wearing a long red gown, her makeup flawless, with long black hair cascading down to her waist.
After that, Ashley rushed out the door in a hurry...
Meanwhile, Hanson was on his way to a blind date at Wilk Restaurant.
It wasn't his idea but rather a requirement from the board of directors. As a CEO who was considered too young, some board members worried he wasn't serious enough in his decision-making and subtly suggested he start a family. Hanson had to go on these blind dates regularly.
His car sped through the streets, and Hanson was sitting inside. The passing lights cast shadows across his sharply defined face, accentuating his rugged handsomeness. He looked out the window, his deep blue eyes reflecting the neon night, appearing even more mysterious. He wore a casual light suit, comfortable yet polite, his face as serious as if headed for a major business deal.
Hanson turned his gaze out the window, his mind a jumble of thoughts.
He was on his way to a blind date, yet all he could think about was the lady in the red dress.
After that night in the wine cellar, he had poured over the security footage but failed to spot her, and no one else but Ashley seemed to have seen her either.
Even Justin wouldn't divulge her origins. She was shrouded in such mystery, almost like a beautiful elf from a fairy tale...
These thoughts furrowed his brow, and his fingers unintentionally fiddled with his phone's screen, landing on Ashley's number...
When the call connected, Hanson himself was startled, about to hang up, but then Ashley's voice came through. "Mr. Gardner?"
Hanson cleared his throat to hide his awkwardness, sat up straight, and responded with a detached "Yeah."
Ashley was confused; she couldn't figure out why Hanson would call her at this time. "Is there... something you need?"
Ashley was almost at her destination by now and still in her dress. She was getting anxious, worried Hanson might need her to return to work.
Hanson couldn't exactly say he had accidentally dialed his bodyguard's number, so he made up an excuse on the spot. "I have an appointment tomorrow. Make sure you're not late."
Ashley was bemused. She already knew about tomorrow's duties yesterday, and those arrangements were Kasen's responsibility. Did her role as Hanson's personal bodyguard really require him to personally call and remind her?
Tomorrow's matter must be of the utmost importance.
Ashley replied with earnest, "Don't worry, Mr. Gardner. I won't be late!"
Approaching the doors of the concert hall, Ashley felt hurried and asked, "Mr. Gardner, is there anything else you need me to do?"
Hanson sighed, about to hang up, when suddenly a flash of red caught his eye.
"Stop the car!"
He bellowed.
The driver, startled, slammed on the brakes.
Screech!
Bang!
The tires screeched as they skidded across the pavement, and the car following too closely behind smashed into his rear bumper.
Hanson swung the door open and stepped out just as a sports car zoomed by, nearly hitting him, and the driver hurled a string of curses his way.
Over the phone, Ashley heard the commotion and asked in surprise, "Mr. Gardner? What's going on? Mr. Gardner?"
But he had no time to answer her now!
At that moment, the figure in red had already crossed to the opposite side of another street. The thoroughfare was bustling with people, and Hanson knew she would soon blend into the crowd, leaving no trace.
Driven by urgency and ignoring the danger, Hanson dashed recklessly across the road.
Cars flowed like a river down the street, with Hanson forcing his way across, dodging vehicles by a hair's breadth time and again. Horns blared in chaos as drivers navigated the sudden pedestrian in their midst.
Meanwhile, Ashley, completely unaware that Hanson was searching for her, met up with Olivia at the entrance, and together they entered the concert hall.
From across the street, Hanson saw the figure in red disappear into the concert hall with the flow of people, anxiety making him practically hop from foot to foot.
By the time Hanson reached the concert hall, the performance had begun, and he was stopped by security at the door, fuming and itching to throw punches.
Lingering outside the main entrance without any luck in getting through, he had to call Kasen. "Get all the bodyguards over to the concert hall across from Wilk Restaurant; the more, the better. Seal off every exit. I don't want a single fly getting out!"
All the bodyguards included Ashley, who was utterly engrossed in the piano performance when a notification popped up on her phone from Kasen. She glanced at the message and felt a flicker of surprise.
Why was the location Kasen sent so close to hers? She checked the time; there was a little over half an hour left till the concert's end. She figured she had enough time to head over after enjoying the last of the performance.
Ashley didn't ponder it further and continued to intently listen to the concert, blissfully unaware that all the exits had been sealed by now.
As the concert wrapped up and the audience began to stand to leave, the lights in the hall suddenly blazed. The doors at the exits were burst open, and nearly a hundred bodyguards in black suits came rushing in!
