Chapter 4 She Saw Him Naked!

960 Words
Ashley pedaled her way to the Gardner Manor. Tucked away in the more secluded part of the city, the plot of land where Hanson's mansion stood didn't come cheap. Two years ago, Hanson snagged this piece of land and poured a fortune into building himself a residence that was nothing short of a castle. Opulent and bold, those were Ashley's first impressions of this grandiose castle. As Hanson's bodyguard, soon to be his personal guard, her status granted her free rein to come and go from the Gardner Manor as she pleased. Looking for Hanson, Ashley found the butler, who was swamped with tasks and answered offhandedly, "In the hot spring pool!" Ashley knew about the natural hot spring pool Hanson had specially built in the garden. She slipped out through a side door and followed the garden walkway to the end, where she spotted a curtain. The moment she lifted it, she froze... Although a glass barrier lay before her, it didn't do much to obscure the view of Hanson showering in the glass room! His physique was impressive, and the glass brought into sharp relief his silhouette, like a live sketch of the human form in its natural state. The steaming mist added a layer of intimate ambiance to the scene. Just as Ashley was mentally chanting "look away, look away" and about to make a swift exit, Hanson unexpectedly swung the glass door open from the inside! He was completely bare, standing before her! In that instant, Ashley truly felt struck by lightning, paralyzed on the spot, unable to move an inch. It was just... too big! Majestic! Impressive! So this was what a real man was like. Every woman should feel it with a man like this at least once for a truly complete life experience! The sight sent a rush of blood to her head, causing a short circuit in her brain that left her clueless about how to react. Noticing her stunned, Hanson frowned slightly, his brows creasing with a touch of displeasure. Feeling Hanson's gaze, Ashley finally snapped back to reality. She averted her eyes, trying her best not to let her gaze wander where it shouldn't, and hurriedly passed him the clothes that were lying nearby. Hanson took the clothes from her hands and turned to walk into the changing room next door. While he moved around in front of her, Ashley kept her head bowed, her eyes only catching glimpses of Hanson's wheat-colored legs and the feet shuffling in slippers. Her cheeks burned red, the image she had inadvertently seen forever etched in her memory, refusing to fade away. She had inadvertently seen this man completely naked, and Hanson had no idea that the bodyguard who brought him clothes was actually a woman. Ashley bit her lip in annoyance. She would have to be more careful in the future; if her true identity were found out, who knew if Hanson would accuse her of s****l harassment? As she stood lost in thought in the hallway outside the bathroom, the click-clack of high heels echoed from the end of the corridor. Ashley instinctively lifted her gaze and saw a cold, red-haired beauty striding toward her, locking eyes with her own brown ones. "Ms. Archer." Ashley greeted her proactively, knowing the woman was Jaelyn Archer, the finance director at Hanson's company and rumored to be the woman Hanson trusted the most. Jaelyn arrogantly glanced at Ashley, not deigning to respond to such an ordinary bodyguard. Just as she was about to lift the curtain, Hanson stepped out first. Upon seeing Hanson, Jaelyn's demeanor flipped instantly, and she flashed a radiant smile. "I came to invite you to dinner, Hanson. You wouldn't refuse me, would you?" "I'm free," Hanson replied, ever so succinct. As Hanson and Jaelyn were about to leave, Ashley quickly spoke up. "Mr. Gardner, could I have a moment of your time?" Jaelyn's brows furrowed in impatience. Before Hanson could even respond, she answered for him, "Mr. Gardner's time is very precious. You can't afford to waste it!" Ashley bit her lip and ignored her, fixing her stubborn gaze on Hanson. "Mr. Gardner, my family is in urgent need of money. Could you please advance me three months' salary?" Hanson's blue eyes glanced at Ashley, flashing an emotion she couldn't quite understand. Ashley felt her heart in her throat. If Hanson turned her down, she would truly be out of options. "Fine," Hanson uttered suddenly, his voice calm, betraying no emotion, "becoming my personal bodyguard comes with a salary increase to begin with." Ashley exhaled a sigh of relief, her face breaking into a grateful smile as she quickly said thanks. But Jaelyn didn't agree. "That's not allowed. It's completely against the company rules!" "In my company, I am the rules." Hanson's indifference to her objection was palpable; his voice was even but carried an undeniable weight. With those words, it felt like the air in the corridor stood still. Jaelyn, accustomed to adoration, probably had never been spoken to like that. Her face darkened instantly, and she shot a venomous look at Ashley. After this encounter, Jaelyn made a mental note to remember this bodyguard. Collecting herself, she didn't want to argue with Hanson over an outsider, so she quickly changed the subject. "Hanson, it's almost the anniversary of my sister's passing. Shall we visit her grave as we do every year?" Even after all these years, the mention of Shirley still caused a subtle shift in Hanson's expression. He quickly composed himself, nodding indifferently. Jaelyn turned to leave with him, and just before stepping out, she shot Ashley a deep, lingering look. There was so much depth to it that it left Ashley with an unsettling sense of dread.
