After being escorted back to King Crius's mansion one of his men approach them. It was the same soldier from before, Auryon could tell he was close to the King based on their previous interaction.
He looked as though he was In his mid-to-late twenties, but from the way he acted he was more like a grumpy old man. She couldn't help but smirk just watching the way he and Elijah grilled one another. Men, no matter the kind, will always size each other up.
She temporarily banned Elijah and herself from communicating telepathically. Last thing she wanted to do was to make them think they were plotting something. Snapping Auryon out of her thoughts the soldier speaks.
"Madame Huntress my name is Jasper, King Crius's second in command. I have been informed that he will see you in his office now." Clearing his throat he looks at Elijah. "ALONE."
Elijah immediately scoffs at the idea. "Like hell she will." Auryon puts her hand on his back hoping that will calm him down.
"This wont take long. I will explain the situation, then we will be on our way. So stand down and wait for me." With that, Auryon begins to follow Jasper. Elijah grabs her hand pulling her back to him. "You can't be serious! They disarmed us remember? I can't leave you alone with that monster."
leaning into him "You can and you will. What does it matter if I am disarmed, have you forgotten?" With a devious smile she whispers into his ear "I am the weapon."
They are interrupted by Jasper, who begins to laugh. "I apologize, didn't mean to mess up that beautiful moment, but I find it ironic that YOU of all people are calling my King a monster."
She can feel the anger start to rise in Elijah, his voice deepens. "And what exactly is that supposed to mean?" Jasper shrugs in response. "Are you ready to go Madame Huntress?" Auryon nods, giving Elijah a reassuring look before following Jasper down the Long corridor.
Upon entering the room she is greeted by King Crius's back. He is staring out the window, a distant look in his eyes. She couldn't help but admire him, he was gorgeous.
That's how vampires lured you in, their beauty was not to be denied. It was designed that way, making it easy to catch and subdue their prey. That's probably how that poor human woman died, taken advantage of by a heartless beast. That human was no match for the rogue they were chasing. No matter the cost, she will bring this rogue to justice.
Being an original, King Crius was particularly alluring. It didn't matter, she will not be distracted, accomplishing the mission was priority. Walking up to his desk she looks around for any weapon of opportunity, just in case negotiations go south.
"Would you care for some tea?" His voice suddenly filling the quiet room. "No thank you. I would like to get straight to the point." Ignoring her completely, he walks over to his desk and sits down. "Have a seat." Pointing to the chair across from him.
"I prefer to stand. King Crius..." Interrupting her "Call me Crius." Confused, she hesitates. "Mr. Crius....." Bringing his hand up to stop her, he laughs. "Just Crius."
What is THAT? His smile is brighter than the sun....and that laugh....is it even legal to be this blinding? What the hell was she even thinking right now. This is like a game of chess and he's winning. She really needed to gain back control of the conversation before it was too late.
