William awoke the next day, startled to find himself in his old apartment. He had slept the night on the sofa. He looked up and was startled to find Vivian standing over him. She had a foolish smile on her face and looked more like a teenager gushing over her first experience with puppy love than she did a fully grown woman.
Vivian: “Good morning, sweet heart. Did you sleep well?”
William sat up quick, paying no attention to her question. He pulled out his phone and immediately checked his messages. Seeing that there were none, he frowned.
Vivian couldn’t hide her hurt feelings. She touched his shoulder and wondered, "William, are we at least still friends?"
William shrugged. “Yeah. Why not?"
William smiled at Vivian and dialed Haley’s number from memory. He would need a ride to work
