Chapter 3

Christa POV      Eliza is sitting in the chair sweating and crying, begging us to let her go. If she thinks we’re going to let her off that easily she is sorely mistaken!  “Please… Please don't ask me anything more. I beg of you. They're going to kill me when they find out!” Eliza pleads.  As soon as she says that, she realizes she just made another big mistake. For someone who thinks so highly of herself, she isn’t very bright. “Who are they? Who else have you been working with?” Eli asks. “No… no… Please. I-I-I can’t.” She shakes her head violently, tears streaming down her cheeks. “I didn't mean to say that!” She says, trying to backtrack.  “It’s too late now, ” Eli says, bending down, getting closer into her face becoming even more intimidating. I wouldn't ever want to be on Eli’s bad side. “Tell me... who else are you working with.”      Eliza is now panting and shaking violently; her clothes are soaked with her sweat. She shakes her head back and forth; her lips are sealed tightly so that whatever she's trying not to say doesn't slip out of her mouth. Unfortunately for her, the harder she fights, the more painful it will become.  “Aaahh, I can’t… it’s too painful… please… don’t… make… me… say… it.” She pants.  “Tell… me.” Eli says, his voice is deep and dark. He's using his Alpha tone.  “I-I-I’VE BEEN WORKING WITH YOUR DAD! ARE YOU HAPPY NOW?” She screams.       Eli takes a step away from her; his face is blank. If I weren’t connected with him, I wouldn't have been able to tell what was going through his mind. I could feel his surprise and also the rage pouring out of him.  “What does my father have to do with this?” Eli asks. “He-he wanted me to be your mate. He doesn't want you to be with-with that tramp! He thinks that you're weak if you lead the pack with your true mate!” Eliza says as she smirks.       Eli’s eyebrows furrowed in confusion, and his frown deepened. As I thought about her words, I came to a realization. That's why his father came to me in my hospital room, threatening me to leave Eli.  “You're lying!” Eli exclaimed.  “I can’t lie, remember. Your father is a murderer, just. like. you!”  “What are you talking about?” Eli asks.       Eliza smiles, knowing that what she's about to tell him is going to cut him deep. Now, she has no problem telling him the truth because of that fact. She wants to hurt him.  “Your father had your mother killed because she made him weak! He set her up, sending her to the other pack, and he had the rogues attack, making it look like a random rogue attack! It's genius really. No one has ever suspected he was involved in her death.” She laughs as she sees the revelation and pain on Eli’s face. “Why do you think he was so adamant about you mating with me? Huh? It would have worked too if you had never met… Her.” She says as she looks at me with disgust. “He wanted to use me as your mate so that he could control you through me! It was a win win really. I got you as a mate and would become Luna of the strongest, biggest pack in North America, and he could control what decisions you made for the pack through me!” Eliza smirks. “NO!” Eli yells in agony as he flips over the coffee table smashing it into pieces. Everyone around him flinches. He stands in front of Eliza panting and doing his best to not shift as his claws begin to sharpen and then turn back into his fingers, and his fur begins to sprout out of his skin as he forces himself to calm down so he doesn't shift.  “Oh, and since the cats out of the bag, ” Eliza shrugs, “It was Monika and I that set up the car accident. We were hoping that it would have killed you, and it would have been a tragic hit-and-run accident. But of course, you had to go and ruin it by surviving! You’ve really been a pain in my a….”       Before Eliza could finish that sentence, I threw a punch to her face and then another and another. Before I knew it, I was beating her to a bloody pulp until Amanda pulled me off of her, kicking and screaming. I had jumped on her so violently her chair was knocked backward as I beat her. As I was pulled off, Eli picked her chair up, setting her upright again, her face bloodied and bruised; he leaned into her and whispered, “You’re right; I am a murderer, and I am going to start with you,” Eli says as he pulls out a blade and holds it against her forehead. “First, I’m going to start right here. Then I will cut and peel your skin slowly off your face; you will be screaming in agony every single second. If you pass out from the pain, I will wait until you wake up, and then I will start again. I will slowly skin you alive from your head down to your feet until you are begging for death. Right before you die, from bleeding to death, I will inject your heart with adrenaline to keep you alive as long as possible until there is no more blood left for your heart to pump. But until then, I will use you until we get what we need from you. You messed with the wrong Alphas mate. I will show you no mercy.” Eliza's eyebrows shot up with fear, her eyes wide open. No one else could hear what he had said to her, but by the look on her face, it wasn’t good. The look on his face sent chills up and down my spine, and not the good kind.  “No… No…. please don't. I’m sorry. Please, I’m so sorry. I’ll do anything you want!” She begged. “It’s a little late for sorry. And you're right; you will do anything we want!” I tell her.       I stand up straight and turn to Rebecca. As our eyes connect, we silently communicate with each other. She nods her head in confirmation that we are ready for the next part of my plan.  **Jacob**      It has been a couple of days since I infiltrated the Opal Moon pack. So far, I haven't been able to figure out where they are keeping the Alpha’s mate. Lex is getting impatient, and if I don't figure it out soon, he will send someone else in to do it for me, and then he’ll kill me. I’ve managed to befriend someone named Chase, and it seems he’s close with his Alpha.  “So, uh, how long have you been here with this pack?”  “Since I was a teenager. The Luna had taken my brother and I in.” “Oh, yeah? She must be pretty great!” “She was amazing. Until the rogues had killed her. She was a great Luna and a great leader. She is missed by everyone who knew her.” “Oh man, I’m sorry to hear. So what about the current Luna?”       Chase stops suddenly and turns around. “Who said we had a Luna?” “Oh, I thought I heard someone talking about your Alpha’s mate—my mistake.” “He did have a Luna… but she died.”  I knew he was lying, but I nodded my head in understanding, pretending I believed in what he said.  “So, did you know her?” Chase turned to me with suspicion written all over his face  “What’s with all the questions about the Luna?” I shrugged my shoulders as if it was no big deal.  “I just want to get to know the pack that has so graciously taken me in. That's all.” Chase waited for a moment sizing me up to see if I was trustworthy enough to tell me. “Yes, she's my sister.”       I was shocked that I was talking to her brother. If anyone knew where she is, it would be him. I couldn't believe my luck. I need to get closer to him, get him to trust me enough to tell what I need to know. > > >      Later that night, I was able to sneak out of the house I was staying in and took off to see Lex and tell him what I had learned. As I reach the house, Lex is already waiting for me. He has his arms crossed in front of him, and his face looks pissed off. Hopefully, my news will put him in a better mood.  “My King,” I say as I bow down to him. I stay that way until he nods his head in satisfaction. Once he does so, I stand back up. “What do you have for me, rogue?” “I became friends with a Chase that seems to be close with their Alpha. I found out that the Luna is his sister. If anyone knows where she is, it’s him! I just need more time to gain his trust so that he’ll tell me that she is alive and where she is, my King.” I say, bowing my head once more.  “So, they're denying that she’s alive?” “Yes, my King. The whole pack believes that she is dead. It seems only a select few know that she is alive and where she is.”  “Hmmm… interesting. Interesting indeed. She must be extraordinary if they are keeping her a secret even from her own pack.” He says in wonder. “Go, get as close as you can to this Chase, and find out where they are keeping her!” “Yes, my King,” I say once more as I bow my head and take off back to the Opal Moon territory. I sneak back into the house undetected.  **Evan**      After Eli gave me the task of researching who this Jacob Johnson is, I started by introducing myself to him to get a read on him. Just after meeting him, I already didn't like him, but not liking him isn’t enough to get Eli to kick him out. I needed more than just not liking him. So after meeting him, I went to research the pack that he claimed to come from. He’s right; there really isn't much to go on. The pack was so small there isn’t much documented. It's impossible to confirm if he is telling the truth. As I’m searching, I find a pack that was close to the territory of the small pack where Jacob claims to be from. I call the number of the pack to get a hold of the Alpha. He may have known this pack's Alpha.  “Hello, my name is Evan. I am Beta to Alpha Eli of the Opal Moon pack. I need to speak with your Alpha; it's urgent.” I’m put on hold for a moment before I hear a click.  “This is Alpha Noah of the Crescent Moon pack.” “Alpha Noah, thank you for taking my call. I know you must be very busy.” “It’s no problem at all. What may I help you with?” “I’m calling in reference to a pack that was located close to your territory. I believe you know them as the Blackriver pack.” “Ah, yes… It’s a tragedy of what happened to them. Because they were such a small pack with no protection, we allied ourselves with them. They helped us, we helped them, but they mainly kept to themselves. Rogues attacked them and us at the same time, so, unfortunately, we weren't in a position to protect them. Once we were able to fight off the rogues, we went and rushed to their aid as quickly as we could, but when we got there, it was nothing but bloodshed and death. They didn't stand a chance. We believed that they had all perished. Why are you asking about them now? This was months ago?” “We believe we have one of the pack members here seeking asylum. His name is Jacob Johnson. Do you by any chance remember him being a part of that pack?” “Hmmmm… Well, the name does sound familiar? Give me some time to dig up what I can find, and I’ll get back to you.”  “Okay, thank you for your help, Alpha Noah.” I let out a sigh. Something doesn't feel right about this, Jacob Johnson.
