New Love

Travis walked up to his and Lilly's share den in the Western pack. He have just finish his morning run, he walked into the den and saw only Lilly.

Travis: "Where are the pups?"

Lilly: "Garth and Humphrey took them, they wanted to see how Kate and the others hunt."

Travis: "Hmmm….that leave us with half an hour to ourselves."

Travis: "Um what did you say dear?"

Snow: "What is a prodigy? What does it mean?"

Travis: "A prodigy would be like me, Kate and Garth. We are prodigy because we are special. A prodigy is someone who I guess you can say better than the rest."

Runt: "How is you and Garth and mom are prodigy?"

Travis: "Well between the three of us, we all have something that give us an advantage over the other. For example, Kate is the better hunter between us all. Garth is the better fighter, he can probably take out three or maybe four wolves at once. While I am more smart and faster. We all have skills that make us excellent hunter, leader and potential mates."

Angel: "Really? So is any one of us are prodigy?"

Travis: "Claudette is a prodigy."

Stinky: "Can one become a prodigy?"

Travis open his mouth but Garth cut him off.

Garth: "Now they cannot, you're either born a prodigy or not. You cannot just become a prodigy."

That cause all the pups to whimper. Travis glare at his cousin who match his glare.

Lilly: "Yes you can."

All the pups attention now went to Lilly. Lilly smile at them, seeing hopeful eyes.

Lilly: "You can become a prodigy by training and working hard. And your dad is a prime example."

Kate, Humphrey & Garth: "What!? He is!?"

Travis: smiling: "Yap, I am. I wasn't born a prodigy, I train to become one. My mom and dad where both prodigy, but I wasn't. And they were many other wolves who were, some put me down and said that I would be better than them. That cause me to train every single day, I trained and push myself to my limit and beyond. And the result is me."

Humphrey: "I didn't know that. I just assumed that you were a born prodigy, with the way you act."

Runt: "So if we train hard and put our mind to it, we too can become a prodigy?"

Travis smiled a sad smile.

Travis: "But is that what you pups really want?"

Pups: "Huh?"

Travis: "Tell me this pups, would you rather train all day long, not having any fun, not being a pup just to be something you're not really is? Or would you be the pup you are and having fund with all your friends, weather they be Alpha, Omega or a prodigy and just have a blast enjoying life? Because that is what happen to me, I was so obsess about being a better wolf that I leave what little friends I have in the process. I have achieve my goal but I lost all my friends as a end result. So tell me pups, do you want to enjoy yourself with your friends and family or train and lost your friends and family?"

The pups look at each other sadly, and whine.

Pups: "We rather have fun and enjoy it with our friends and family."

Travis: smiling: "Wise choice and for that you can all go and play with your friends and family."

All the pups gave Travis a big puppies hug and ran off to play. Lilly smile and kiss him on his cheek. Kate and Humphrey was touch and gave Travis a big smile of understanding.

Garth: "Giving them false hope won't help them in life."

Garth said with his head down, Travis sigh.

Travis: "I didn't gave them false hope Garth, I gave them the talk they need to help them through life. To show them that friendship and family is more important than being something you don't really want to be."

Garth: "…..Well let's hope that it does work."

And with that Garth got up and walked away.

Travis: "I know it will work."

When the day came to an end, Travis, Lilly, Garth, Snow and Angel all arrive at the Eastern pack. Travis and Garth hunted for dinner, after everyone have eaten. Lilly and Travis carry their pups onto their then, Lilly saying goodnight to Garth and a kiss on the cheek. Garth grin and walked away, his hope for Lilly still not fading away. Lilly walked inside and saw Travis and the pups all curl up on the dry grass bed Travis have made. Lilly giggle and walked toward them, she carefully curled up on top of Travis chest, and held onto her pups. Travis fox tail act like a blanket and cover them all. Sleep was peaceful and good. Travis decided that today was another good day.
