CHAPTER 3- A HUMAN MATE

GRACE

“Can I sit with you guys?” he asked.

I looked at Jared, Paul, and Eva who were looking at the boy suspiciously before anyone could say I asked him to sit down so that a scene was not created already everyone was looking at our table, especially the girls.

Why Moon Goddess? Why do you have to bless these male werewolves with such looks?

“Are you new?” I asked him trying to make a conversation.

“Yes—” he came near my face and looked intently; his blue eyes looked so deep- Ahhh! Stop it grace listen to what he is saying. I reminded myself.

“And I know you all are werewolves.” He whispered in my ears which Paul, Jared, and Eva heard because of our heightened listening abilities.

“You know you don’t have to come this close with Grace, just to say that we all can hear you and there’s already so much commotion in the cafeteria so no one else will hear you,” Jared spoke with a hint of anger in his voice.

“Oh, I’m sorry if I made you uncomfortable, I was just trying to keep this a secret since I’m also one of a kind.” He said while smiling sweetly and shrugging.

Wait, what is wrong with this guy? Just a few moments ago he was being seductive and now he is suddenly all cute and smiley. He might be having bipolar disorder.

“By the way from which pack are you all from?” he asked.

“But before answering that would you like to introduce yourself? Since that would be easy for us to address you.” I spoke.

“Oh, I’m sorry. I forgot to give an introduction to you all.”

This guy seriously has a habit of saying sorry I guess because this was his second time saying sorry just in one minute.

“My name is Daniel and I have currently been shifted to this college. I’m a warrior in the Silver Moon pack. And you all?”

“SILVER MOON PACK!” all three of us said in unison, which apparently was a bit loud, and now everyone was looking at our table.

I apologized to everyone, and they resumed what they were doing.

“You’re from Silver Moon Pack?” I asked.

“Wait you are a warrior but why haven’t I seen you earlier?” Paul asked.

“You are lying, I haven’t seen you ever in my life of eighteen years in our pack,” Eva stated the obvious which I was thinking. There she is my soul sister.

“Why are you here? What do you want?” Jared asked angrily while showing his sharp teeth giving him a hint that he would be in danger if he tried something since, he was the one to approach us.

After everyone’s question when I looked at Daniel, that guy looked like he wanted to get crawled inside the earth. He looked so confused and terrified that it almost made me laugh. No! No! no, grace control this is a serious situation.

“Why do you all think I’m lying? I’m a warrior in Silver Moon pack and the reason behind you all not seeing me earlier is because—” he looked down as if he was in pain just by remembering the memory.

We all looked at each other, not knowing what to do, but then Daniel continued.

“Because, at first, I was a rogue. I left my pack to find my mother who got kidnapped during an attack on our pack, but then Alpha Caleb found me in a very bad state. For months, I was in the Pack Hospital and, after that, I was specially trained by Alpha himself and now, I’m a warrior.” When he finished, Eva and I had tears in our eyes.

I don’t know about Eva, but for me, the fact that he left his pack to find his mother and here I can’t even remember what my mother looked like. I never have a memory of her.

“I’m sorry for misunderstanding you,” I said with guilt in my voice. I felt bad for making him remember those painful memories again.

You know what a thing about memories is. Bad memories are like splinters. Sometimes it is painful, but you learn to live with them. The problem is, that they always work their way to the surface eventually. And you know, bad memories were hard enough, but it is torture to be haunted by the good.

“I’m sorry brother once again and welcome to our pack,” Jared said.

“And to our friends’ group,” Eva added.

“Yes. Welcome, Daniel.” Paul added.

It was good to have someone new, I mean it was not bad with just the three of us but still having him may add spice to our friendship.

“Okay! You all questioned me, but now please introduce yourselves. I don’t know all your names.”

“Oh, I forgot. Wait, let me introduce ourselves. Hello! My name is Eva. He is my elder brother Jared who failed in grade 7th and now he is with us. He is Paul, he is my mate and both of them are also warriors so I believe the three of you will get close. And lastly, she is Grace, my best friend, and my soul sister.” Eva introduced us and we shook our hands. I haven’t told the fact about me not having a wolf to him.

During the rest of the lunch, we chatted about every nonsense topic we could come up with and insulted each other. When the recess got over, we were on our way to the library since I was having mathematics class now but our professor was on leave since a substitute teacher would be there. So, no problem. Jared, Eva, and Paul were also in the same class as me so they were also going with me Daniel wanted to spend more time with us so he bunked his class and came to the library with us.

The boys were reading comics, and Eva was finding some good fictional romance novels someone entered the library, and all of a sudden, Daniel started behaving differently.

The girl was a human that I can say and beside him was a boy. Is she, his mate? Wow, a human mate! As I was busy with my usual thing which I’m super talented in which is talking to myself, Daniel was walking towards her in speed, and before we could do anything he went and did the most surprising thing he could do to make her slap him. He hugged her and the boy who was standing beside her was now ready to pounce at Daniel.

Oh boy, you can’t just go and hug a human without knowing them. I ran in their direction to stop whatever would happen so that a scene would not be created. I pulled Daniel back to which he growled at me. I gave him a serious look and till then Jared, Paul, and Eva came. They were holding Daniel.

The girl was still in shock about what happened now, obviously, anyone would be if a stranger came and hugged you suddenly. Thank God the girl didn’t do anything but if I had been at her place, I would have kicked Daniel where the sun doesn’t shine.

“Uhm…We are sorry on behalf of our friend. He mistook you for his late girlfriend who died in a car accident whom he loved very much. He is still recovering from her loss and now whenever he sees someone like her, he mistook them as her. Poor boy.” I said while wiping a fake tear.

OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! Couldn’t I come up with any other excuse than this than to be in front of his mate? I’m sure Daniel is going to kill me.

When I looked at Daniel to see his expression, and oh god he looked at me like I have grown two heads. Eva, Paul, and Jared were trying their best to control their laughter and had a sad expression to go along with my fake scenario.

“Oh, I’m sorry to hear this. Is he okay now?” the girl asked.

“NO!” we all said together making the girl jump a little due to the sudden change in the atmosphere. We went from wiping our fake tears to showing excitement.

“Uhm, actually, the doctor has said he needs to socialize more and find someone who can help him to cope. And since he thinks that you look like her girlfriend. So…”

“So?” the girl asked raising her eyebrows.

“Soifyoudon’tmindcanyoubehisfriend,” I said and looked around everywhere except her.

“Excuse me! Can you please slow down what you said? I was not able to understand clearly.”

I took a deep breath and repeated once again, “So, if you don’t mind can you be his friend?”

All four of us looked at her hopefully giving her the most innocent look we could give to her. What are all the things I have to do for my friend?

“Okay. Sure.” She replied after thinking for a while.

Woah, that was easy. I said in my head. ‘Daniel, you better thank me with the utmost respect.’

The girl’s name is Rosie, and she is a junior in our college. The boy who was with her was her friend who lives in her neighborhood. With that information, I can say that the guy likes her because throughout the conversation he kept interrogating Daniel. You see this is the advantage you get by watching all of these K-dramas. Love-Triangle is on its way, my friends.

After having a short chat with them, we all left the library, and it was the last period. I was sitting in my seat with Eva and talking about the recent drama we were going to watch together. When a boy came and gave me a box,

“Excuse me! What is this? And why are you giving me this?” I asked confusingly, looking at the box.

“The guy asked me to give this to you.” He pointed outside the door but no one was there.

“Who?” I turned around to look at the owner of the box, only to find out…
