SELENE
I found Kael coming out of the administrative wing, he looked like someone had just flipped a switch inside him. I stepped in front of him before he could walk past me.
"Hey," I said. "You okay?"
He looked at me like he was pulling himself back from somewhere far away, like his mind had been running through a hundred different scenarios and he was forcing it back to the present moment.
"I am fine," he said.
"You are not fine." I grabbed his hand. "Come on. We need to talk."
I pulled him away from the main hallway before anyone could see us together. We moved toward the back of the campus where the old buildings were, the ones nobody used.
The greenhouse was still standing and it was empty. I closed the door behind us and turned to face him.
"Calder came back," I said.
