SELENE I got back to the dorm around five in the evening. Elara was not there, her side of the room was empty and her desk was clean. It was like she had never been there at all, except for the faint smell of her perfume lingering in the air. I dropped my bag on my bed and went straight to the bathroom. I needed to wash the day off my body, needed to stand under hot water and pretend that everything was normal for at least a few minutes. The shower helped, the steam cleared my head a little.
