Prologue

Lilith Sinclair believes that one day she can be truly happy again. She grew up in a loving home with parents that showered her with love and affection, but that was all taken away from her after a tragic accident. This didn’t stop her, though. In fact, this made her work harder, persevere more, and overall keep going. She wasn’t the type to quit, and she was definitely not going to let her parents down now. After graduating college, she meets a man that for the first time in a while, made her feel genuinely happy. Damian Cain is caring, kind, and to Lily, way above her league. She thinks he can do better, but Damian always reassures her that she is the only one. He showers her with gifts, attention, and anything a girl could ask for from the man she loves. Everything is perfect. Lily could almost hear the church wedding bells. Until she heard another woman moan her boyfriend’s name in the office instead. - “I swear, your boyfriend is going to flip when he sees the surprise. If I were a boy, I would definitely date you.” Charlotte, my best friend, said on the phone after I sent her a picture of what I was going to surprise my boyfriend with on our anniversary. Today marks two years since we got together and although Damian said he had to do some overtime at work, I couldn’t help but go all out and surprise him there instead. He hasn’t stopped talking about this new game he wanted, but it was so popular that it was already sold out in minutes. Damian was so frustrated. Little did he know that I was one of those that stayed up all night to get one. I also baked him his favorite dark chocolate cake. I was sure he would love the surprise and so I couldn’t stop being giddy as I made my way to our office. Damian and I worked together on the same floor in the same department. You could say that he was technically my boss. At first, he didn’t really seem to notice me. I was just a newcomer and he was this outstanding manager and I knew at the start that a lot of girls had a crush on him because he really is attractive. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t one of those who secretly liked him. One night, during a company party and when Charlotte gave me a makeover of some sort, he started talking to me out of nowhere. From then on, he asked me out and we’ve been dating ever since. Damian is a total sweetheart. He always took me out to places that I had no desire to go to after losing my parents. He was the one that finally got me to go out and be happy again. “We’re here,” the taxi driver exclaimed as we stopped at our office building. It was a tall building, but definitely not as tall as Olympus’. Everyone knows that you can’t really outshine that company. They were the best of the best and because our buildings were just about a block away, it was hard not to be compared to one another. I also heard rumors that the CEO there was this insanely handsome guy, but no one really knows what he looks like aside from a few people. If you search for the CEO of Olympus on the internet, nothing shows up. It was clear the man liked his privacy, or maybe, he was really just ugly. Chances are, it’s the latter. I paid the taxi and stepped out to make my way to the building. During office hours, it was packed. Rarely would you find a corner that was empty as workers roamed around. After office hours, this place was like a ghost town aside from the one guard in the lobby and a few of the cleaning staff on different floors. I got into the elevator and clicked the fifth floor, where the human resource department is. I could barely contain my excitement. I loved doing things for the man I love. No matter how difficult it might be, just the smile on his face would make me forget all the hardships. Damian made me happy, and I wanted to make him happy too. No matter what. “That’s odd…” I mumbled to myself as the elevator doors opened and I was greeted with little to no light. If Damian was here, the light in his office should be on, making the floor brighter, but there was nothing. Could he have left already and forgotten to tell me? Darn, I came all the way here for nothing. I pulled out my phone and clicked the speed dial. Suddenly, the sound of a ringing phone echoed in the place and determined to find it, I followed the sound. Our office had a lot of glass windows. There wasn’t really anything spectacular about it because it looked like your typical office. The only places that you could truly get some privacy were either the pantry area or the bathroom. I realized the sound was coming from either of those as I passed the areas with all the desks. Once I passed the bathroom and could still hear the ringing, I knew then that the sound was coming from the pantry. I smiled a little when I thought of my boyfriend getting hungry and also started feeling a little guilty thinking that I should have gotten him other food besides cake. I’m sure only eating cake wouldn’t be enough for him. I decided to end the call so I could order other food on my phone. Little did I know that the second the ringing would stop, a different sound would change everything I knew about my boyfriend and the happy relationship I thought I had. “Yes, Damian, f**k me harder!” I froze on the ground I was standing on, my eyes widened in shock, and my hand gripping onto my phone tightly it would almost break in my hold. Wha- what was that? Did I… imagine that? Or was it really real? “You’re so f*****g big, Damian!” Another sound came from the pantry and that’s when it dawned on me that this was all very much real. “Call me your daddy,” Damian’s deep and hoarse voice traveled in my ears like a nail on a chalkboard. It was really clear now. My boyfriend who I thought was loyal and loving, has actually been cheating on me this whole time. I wanted to cry. I wanted to scream. I wanted to just fade away. “Yes, daddy. Spank me, I’ve been a naughty girl!” The more I heard them talk to each other seductively, and hear the sound of the table creaking as their lustful moans filled the room, the more I felt like puking. The worst part? I felt so betrayed, but a part of me still wanted to wish I hadn’t gone here in the first place and I wouldn’t have known and maybe, we could have just continued being the happy couple that we were. “I’m going to c*m,” Damian said indecently as I heard the sound of a tableware break. “Yes, daddy! Give it to me more than you would ever give your girlfriend!” “As you wish, baby.” Their moans became louder as Damian let out continuous grunts. All while I stood at the side, tears running down my cheeks as if it would never end. Who the hell was I kidding? It was a good thing I decided to go here without him knowing because who knows how long he had been f*****g around with other girls before this? All those times he said he had a lot of work to do and it turns out he was doing someone instead? Damian Cain was an asshole who tricked me into thinking he wasn’t and I wasn’t going to let him have the satisfaction of thinking he was smart enough to hide it from me. I wiped my tears with the back of my hand, placed my phone and the game I bought for him on one of the tables before getting the cake out of the box, and stomping into the pantry. I didn’t care that he was still pretty much inside her and they were completely naked. It hurt, yes, but I wanted to get this over with as fast as possible. I was done being treated like a fool. “Oh my god, Damian, it’s–” “Lily, wha- what are you doing here?!” Before going here, I was over the moon excited to see the look of happiness on my boyfriend’s face when he would see me give him a heartfelt surprise I had planned for. This time, I did get to see his face, but his expression was far from happiness. It was of shock and shame. I didn’t respond. Instead, I kept walking to them as they stared at me wide-eyed. The next thing I did was incredibly satisfying as I raised the cake and smothered it on Damian and Macy, a coworker that turned out to be such a snake this whole time because she used to gush over mine and Damian’s relationship. The stickiness of the icing rubbed on their hairs, faces, and bodies. I’m sure I could do much worse like pull Macy’s hair, get scissors and cut it all off, or maybe get a mighty bond glue and squirt the thing empty all over Damian’s d**k, but for now, this was enough for me. It was a waste of food, but then again, all those two years were a waste of time as well. Damian Cain was a waste himself and I was done with him from here on out. “Fúck you and your tiny d**k,” were all I said before turning around, walking away, and never looking back. It felt good. I felt relieved to be able to do and say that. It felt as if I was able to show them that I wasn’t just someone they could step on like a rug. I was Lilith Sinclair and I was stronger than that. But as soon as I got back home, closed the door, and got to my bed, the strong Lilith Sinclair broke down and cried an ocean of tears. Why couldn’t I be happy? Why couldn’t I get that fairytale romance my parents had? And then I realized that even if my parents loved each other so much, that still wasn’t enough for them as they passed away tragically. Maybe that’s the thing. I didn’t deserve to be happy after all. I pulled my blanket to the top of my head and cried myself to sleep, wishing, hoping, and dreaming someday true happiness would find me. - Ares Callisto forgot what it was like to be truly happy. Sometimes he would get glimpses from his past, when he was much younger, smiling and laughing about something so simple, like his older sister falling for his prank or his mother tickling him before going to bed. His past was brighter, happier. Nowadays, he would smile, but it was as if it didn’t really reach him enough to feel like genuine happiness. His life was mostly ninety percent work, and ten percent play. Staying in the office hours after the normal hours ended, racking his brain to achieve that perfect figure on a data set, and going above and beyond to make sure a deal goes smoothly. It wasn’t even all about money to him. Sure, it was nice to be rich, to be powerful, etcetera, but he only worked because he used it as an escape. He used it to forget. Just as he would take a girl that catches his eye, bring her to bed, or maybe not even make it to bed, and then forget about her the day after it was done. This was the part where his ten percent play came in. When he meets a woman he thinks is good enough for the night, he doesn’t waste any time. Ares Callisto is the most eligible bachelor that broke hearts here and there, but women always came back to play. How could they resist the man that was oozing with charm and was as if he was carved to perfection? His jet black hair was darker than the night and his sultry light gray eyes allured women and even men all over the world. His lips were plump and soft, it was hard not to find yourself imagining kissing them. His features were strong, just as he was as a person. He was also impossible to miss as he stood at six foot two. The perfect man exists and his name is Ares. But deep down inside, he held a pain and heartbreak that was far from perfect. Instead, it was something that hovered over him like a dark shadow he could not escape. No light bright enough has ever been able to pull him away from his own darkness. At least, not until he met her. Long brunette hair, hazel-green eyes, and a beauty that was far too simplistic compared to the type of woman many believe Ares would end up with. Someone as rich, powerful, and handsome as him would surely only associate with extravagant women, wouldn’t he? No one knows that it’s exactly the way that she looks that makes Ares’ heart skip a beat for the first time in years. Before either of them knew it, their out of the blue spur of the moment decision was going to cause a ripple in a once calm sea. What they do know though, was how extremely passionate and incredibly erotic it was the second the two collided. --- Happy half of August!
