In the concrete jungle of New York City, there is a man well-known for his looks, his expertise, but more so his temper. Named after the god of war, Ares Callisto, was born in Greece, but raised in New York. Growing up in the capital for international business, he has become the CEO of the family conglomerate, Olympus, making it one of the most influential companies in the entire world under his presidency. Nobody knows that despite his cold exterior, he carries a pain that has been destroying him deep down inside day in and day out. One fateful night, he meets a girl that will challenge everything that he’s ever known and threaten to destroy the walls he has built around him. Could the god of war win this battle? Or will he have to lose... in order to win her? Excerpt “Say yes,” Ares repeated as he looked at the woman whose hazel-green eyes stared at him wide-eyed and confused. Frankly, he too was feeling just as confused about his own decision, but he was given no other choice, and he quickly realized that the woman in front of him was the only and maybe also the best person for this predicament of his. “I’m sorry, what? Say yes to what?” Lily blinked her eyes once, twice, and another before concluding that she was definitely not dreaming. Her boss was standing in front of her, inches apart, and his sultry gray eyes were looking deep into her with so much intensity, so much… desire. Was it desire for her? Or for something else? “I want you to marry me, Lilith Sinclair.” The words come out of his mouth so effortlessly, like he was merely saying something he was used to – gathering a meeting with the board, changing the ad for this product, or even picking a new tie. These were all things Ares was used to. All things connected to business, but this? Marriage? This was not as simple as that. Marriage was a sacred bond between two people that swore to love one another for the rest of their lives, two people that would stay together in sickness and in health. Ares knew this, and Lily, although having experienced heartbreak just recently, definitely knew this was not how a proposal works. But Ares was desperate. And Lily was his only solution. He let out a deep sigh before adding to his earlier sentence. “Not a real marriage. I meant, only on contract.” He explained to Lily, not sure that this even helped a little bit with her decision-making. This was crazy, Lily’s mind kept saying. She may have slept with him once, twice… okay, thrice, but this was not part of the plan. Oh god, this was definitely not how she wanted her new job to go. But then again, who could decline being with someone like Ares Callisto? The first night she met him, she couldn’t even believe he was real, but more so when she found out more about him. He was incredibly hot, born with a silver spoon in his mouth, smart, athletic, and did she mention that he was ridiculously good-looking? No one would say no to marrying him. She swallowed anxiously. “Do you mean, like a… marriage contract?” She asked, unsure how this was all supposed to go. Ares’ heart skipped a beat as something in her eyes made him think that she was finally seriously considering his proposition. He licked his lips before biting them and he let out a heavy breath as he looked deep into her eyes. Those eyes of hers were the first thing that captivated him that night, not knowing that in the future, they might also be the eyes of his future wife. Wife. It repeated in his head. Three years ago if someone had told him that he was going to ask his assistant to marry him, he would have thought they were insane. But no. Right now, he’s pretty sure he thinks he’s the one that’s going insane. “Yes. A marriage contract. One year; no more, no less. What do you say, Lilith Sinclair?” He took a sharp inhale before taking her hand and squeezing it, the touch sending tingles all over both their bodies. "I won't take no for an answer." --- Hello everyone!
