Nathaniel’s POV
“Hold the elevator, please,” I said to the shewolf, getting on, and before I had realized it was too late, the smell of her almost knocked me off my feet.
“Damn it, why didn’t she accept the rejection?” I thought as I walked in the elevator with Marissa and Martha, my two assistants.
It took everything I had to act like I couldn’t tell she was my mate. “And what was she doing to her anyway? Did she work here? Who hired her? Why?”
“Sixteen floor!’ I grunted, trying to contain my wolf and myself. The familiar smell of jasmine hit my nose and I tried not to breathe her in. No way was I letting her in. Flashes of high school shot into my mind and I grew angry.
She turned around and studied my face before giving me a hurt look.
“Nathaniel Alistair?” She said loudly, not holding back any of her emotions.
“Hello, Naomi Rae.” I said casually, looking straight ahead. “ Why are you here?” I questioned, still not looking at her.
“Well, I work here now” she stumbled over her words.
"How about you?" She asked me.
“And who do you work for?” I asked, ignoring her question. I was getting more annoyed by the minute..
“Mr. Anderson, vice president.” she stuttered." You look good, and not at all like I remember you." She giggled.
I gave her a death stare, which forced her to stop laughing.
"Sorry, just trying to lighten the mood." She stuttered, looking around awkwardly
The elevator dinged as the door swung open to the 15th floor, she stood there staring at me with disbelief.
“Isn’t this your floor, Naomi?” I said coldly, sounding serious.
“Yes,” she said, defeated as she got off, still staring at me, the door closing.
Suddenly I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding. "Why was she here, was she sent to torment me?" No, she couldn't hurt me anymore. This was my domain.
“Get Mr. Anderson on the phone” I said to my assistants once we got to my office.
I had to get to the bottom of this. Naomi Ray was working at my company. It was the last thing I needed.
“f**k me!” running my hands through my jet black hair, still brooding as I walked into my office and sat behind my desk waiting for Mr. Anderson to call.
The phone rang and I picked it up.
“ Mr. Anderson on the other line,” my secretary said before connecting me.
Mr. Anderson had an alleged reputation for hiring pretty she-wolves, and messing around with them.
“Fire her.” I say, as soon as he answers the phone.
“ I’m sorry, fire who?, Mr. Alistair," he said.
"The secretary you hired...fire her immediately." I scoffed.
"Sorry, I can't without good reason, that's against company policy. You would want a lawsuit on your hands, do you?” he said, and I could hear him smiling through the phone.
“Fine, but I get to keep her,” he said, and I let out a growl.
“Overprotective? Nathaniel, what is she your mate or something?”
I growled.
"I'll be over there." I said, hanging up the phone before anything else could be said.
I take the elevator to the fifteenth floor and get off.
Fifteen minutes later, I am face to face with Naomi f*****g Rae the b***h who bullied me throughout high school and is now my rejected mate.
"Come here," I ordered, grabbing her by the arm. Sparks erupted at contact and shoved her into a nearby office.
“Accepted the rejection,” I said.
“So that was you, that night “ she said, annoyed.
“No, we are mates...the goddess gave you to me for a reason.”
“No we are not, it will never work between us. Please accept the rejection and move on.”
“No, you are my mate and I want you.” She said, as if she was enjoying this.
“Too bad I don’t want you, I never will. Is it money you want? How much for you to accept the rejection?”
“Are you kidding me?”
“You know why we can never be with each other, mate bond or not, I will never allow myself to love someone like you.”
“Nathaniel, please I’m sorry..I’m so sorry for everything I need you, baby." she cried.
"No you're not, not yet anyway! I grit my teeth. "Not as sorry as I’m going to make you feel when I am done with you. I spat out as I walked out of the office, leaving her behind.
"Nathaniel, please don't do this..." she cried. "Just let me apologize please."
There was no way I would let her in. She was the bully after all, and I had to stay strong.
Thank the goddess for my ability to distance myself from my feelings.
"I got to find a way to fire her." I said coldly, then I walked back to the elevator. When I got back to my office, I sat down at my desk and continued to work on the codes for project Guardian
But I could not take my mind off of Naomi the rest of the day.
I thought about how I could hire her and what I was going to do now that she was working for my company.
I hated the way she made me feel like I was back in high school again. Only this time I was mated to her, and I was her boss.
Thinking about being her boss and bending her over my desk got me hard.
"Damn it... Nathaniel," I thought.
I need to get her out of my system. I need to find a way to make her want to quit and then get my revenge.
I was going to give her a taste of how it feels to be bullied.
