Elle POV
I spent the night wondering and thinking about him. Vincent is so mesmerizing, its almost like an addicting puzzle I feel the need to crack. I am honestly completely turned on by his being. Which causes me to get myself off using my old friend William. Yes, you guessed it. I named my v******r William.
After my treat while thinking of Vincent this morning, I got ready, made breakfast and sat down with my k****e that I brought with me. For the first time in a year, I sit down to read. I don't know what brought this on, however, I thought it would be a good time to lose myself in a hopelessly romantic book about werewolves and vampires.
I truly do wish that in the human world we would have the mate bond. Then you could get everything just right the first time.... if that was true, I wouldn't be away from my family and my friends. The only thing that I honestly wish is to find and have Mr. Right and forget about everything that haunts me from a year ago. However, this is real life, not a fantasy dream world. These thoughts frustrate me.
I abruptly power my k****e off and throw it on the couch. With anger building inside of me, I scream into my pillow. A defense mechanism I learnt back in medical school. It is not good to let everything build up, so I deal with letting it out. Strange, I know, but screaming into my pillow truly does feel better.
I was interrupted by a knock on the door.
God I hope the person knocking didn't hear me, I think to myself.
I hesitantly answer the door and find Vincent with two cups of coffee in his hand.
Mortified, I let him in, close the door behind him and say :
"Hi."
"Am I interrupting anything?" he says as he c***s his head to the side.
"No, not at all. I was just reading"
"Hmmm..... well then, what were you reading?"
"just a romance novel" I say, blushing a little bit I really do not understand how he can affect me so much.
He takes a sip of his coffee, chuckles a bit and asks "was it any good?"
Goodness, his laugh just melts my insides....
I think to myself "No I'm not ready yet... I can't do this again. I promised myself"
"Actually, I don't read much anymore. I am pretty busy with work and stuff... so it was nice for a change."
"Good I'm glad. SO! Anyway, I came to bring you a coffee and see if you would like to go for a walk around town before work. As Friends Obviously." he smiles and snickers.
I shake my head, smiling and say "sure why not"
I grab my coat and put my shoes on, look at him and say "Let's go."

Vincent POV
As we walked down the street sipping our coffee, I get to know her. She is so funny and vibrant, but I can tell that she is holding something back. I don't push and I let her tell me anything she wants to share. It was nice to know what she likes, dislikes, I'm in awe of her.
We talked about anything and everything but kept the conversation light. I learnt that her favorite color is purple, her favorite food is Chinese, and she even likes/wants to get a dog. After a couple hours of talking and getting to know each other, I walk her back to her door so that she can get ready for work. She turns towards me to say our goodbyes. This was the first time I ever saw it. The melancholy that she is hiding from everyone.
Tucking her hair behind her ear, sending shivers and shocks down my arm, she shutters so I know she feels it too.
I speak softly "you know that you can tell me anything, right?"
"Of course" she replies.
" OK, it just seems like something is bothering you. You know that, whatever it is, you have friends around here that would protect you from any harm."
"I know, its just more complicated than it seems." she says, fidgeting with her fingers.
"Alright. Well, I'll be right here when you're ready." I kiss her forehead and turn around to leave, when she says "thank you, for, everything."
I walk out of the apartment wondering what happened to her. Wondering what could possibly be bothering her. I feel compelled to protect her and try to make everything better. However, until she tells me what it is I'm stuck here wondering.
Elle POV
The minute I walk into work I am bombarded by Ang. She immediately looks up from the bar and says, "sit down little miss and tell me if the gossip around town is correct?"
Honestly confused, I reply "what gossip?"
"Darling you can't hide from me. You were spotted by numerous customers with our very own mayor walking around this afternoon."
"I was with Vincent this afternoon. We went for a walk. He can't be the mayor. He is far too young for that."
"No, Elle, HE IS the mayor. He just took over for his dad. In our community, it's inherited, not elected. Believe me, doll, he is THE most eligible bachelor in town. So, do tell and don't leave out anything."
"Really? Well, he is smart, kind, funny, and that is not even mentioning how gorgeous that man is. But, we are just friends, honest. I'm not ready for anything and life can be too complicated."
With that thought, I move to the back room, put my apron on to get ready for work. I take a quick glance at my phone, and I have 7 missed calls since this afternoon, from an unlisted number. I might have made a new friend, but honestly, the missed calls gives me a really bad feeling.
