Chapter 3 - Vincent

Vincent's POV
I fight for control of my wolf, he wants me to mate and mark her now!
I quickly tell him that our mate is human and he needs to relax. He finally gives me back control. I walk to the table with the guys and I sit where I can discreetly look at her.
" What's going on with you man?" mindlinks Cory.
"She's my mate" I answer back
" Who? the girl? like the waitress? isn't she human?"
"Yea go figure" I snort.
That is when I hear the most beautiful sound in the world:
"Hi, my name is Elle, can I get you anything?" she says.
She has such a beautiful sweet voice. I am instantaneously hypnotized by her.
"I ..... Uh.... Um....... Beer?" I don't know what is wrong with me, I have never been like this. I can't even formulate a sentence. I am usually the calm, calculated, controlled, dominating person.
She giggles : "A beer? Okay, I'll be right back."
As she turns I can see her gorgeous brown curls and bubble b**t walking away. Goddess knows I could watch her all night.
That is when I notice my Gamma Ivan staring at her as well and he lets out a low whistle.
I let out a low growl, staring at him sternly and say: "MINE".
He sits back in his seat and fidgets "Sorry Alpha."
She comes back and puts the bottle down on top of a coaster, and asks everyone if they need anything else. They all shake their head and she walks away again.
We finish our drinks, the guys leave to go either home to their mates or find a willing she-wolf for the night, and I stand up to pay our tab.
"So, your the one that got stuck with the tab, eh?" she says, smiling.
Her little smile even turns me on....
"I guess so! Are you new.... to town, I mean?" I ask her, goddess I'm a mess....
"Umm I've been here for year now...."
"Oh yea? What brought you to town?"
"Well ... I needed a change I guess"
"She is hiding something." I say to Aiden
"Vincent, she might not be ready to say"
"Maybe"
" Well then, welcome to town. Do you think I could umm take you out? .... sometime?"
Her demeanor changes. "OH!, I'm sorry, I don't want to date anyone right now...."
I notice her fidgeting with her fingers.... I can see her panicking so I divert the situation.
"Well that is fine.... maybe another time. Maybe we could be friends or something. It doesn't have to be a date." I say desperately. I just want to be close to her.
"Actually, that would be great. I don't have any friends other than Andrea around here, so having another friend would be good", she giggles. Goddess, what is she doing to me?
I turn around to walk out and I say "Until next time, friend."
She laughs as I start to walk out the door.

Elle's POV
I panicked when he asked me out. I am not ready for that yet. After everything that happened with Dante, I just can't bring myself to trust any man with my heart anymore. I couldn't help but feel the butterflies when he talks to me, he is so attractive. Plus, I find it cute how he stumbles on his words around me. I cannot help but laugh.
Then he mentioned friends to me. I am happy with that... I don't know a lot of people around here, so having him as a friend made me feel giddy.
I am contemplating what just happened when I hear him say "Until next time friend." when i realize that he didn't even tell me his name.
"WAIT! What's your name?" I shout louder than I should have.
"Vincent" he replies, before walking out the door.
"Vincent" I mumble to myself.
