The beginning
As She laid there, eyes open, they shoveled dirt on her nearly lifeless body. She couldn't help but to wonder how she got here. She was a normal 21-year-old human, who didn't get into trouble. She knew the rules, humans don't interact with anyone other than other humans. It was the unspoken rule of their society. Amongst all the supernaturals, humans were no better than slaves, and up until the turn of the century they were slaves. Now at least they got paid. She kept her head down and did as she was told. She attended classes at the local university, only spoke to other humans and kept her eyes to herself, so how did she end up in a shallow grave?
Carter Mason got out of her beat-up 2003 Honda Accord, on the first day of school. She struggled with her bag, books and her coffee.
"Hey Carter!" Her best friend Tamarah streamed, scaring her. She ended up dropping everything except the coffee.
"Jeez! Scare the s**t out of me, why don't you?!" Carter said, giving Tamarah a dirty look. Tamarah giggled and bent down to help Carter gather her books.
"Im sorry." She said smiling at her. Carter sighed heavily, reaching for her binder, but to her surprise, someone's hands were already on it. She looked up, meeting the purple eyes of the most beautiful face she'd ever seen and immediately looked down at her hands, blushing.
Asher Kai, stood there looking down at Carter.
"Carter." He said in his velvety smooth voice, handing over her binder.
"Sorry." Carter said simply and took it without looking at him.
"Don't be, from what I can tell, it wasn't your fault." He said, a smile playing on his lips. Slowly he lifted her chin with two fingers. "It would be nice if you'd look at me when I'm speaking to you." He said meeting her eyes again.
Looking at his beautiful face made it impossible for Carter to breathe.
"Sorry." She mumbled again. He chuckled.
"Be more careful." He grinned mischievously before walking away.
"Oh my god Carter!" Tamarah squealed. "Asher freaking Kai just talked to you!"
Carter just stared at Asher walking away dumb founded.
"Hello! Earth to Carter?" Tamarah said waving her hand in front of Carters face. She blinked a few times before looking away.
"What was that?" Carter whispered. "He shouldn't have done that. He's a nephilim, and I'm only a human. How did he even know my name?"
"Who knows, but oh my god, hes a literal god! And he just talked to you!" Tamarah squealed again.
Carter stared at her friend for a moment before she grabbed her books from her and began walking towards class.
"Lets just forget about it. Come on, were going to be late." Carter said walking faster.
"But Carter! Wait! We need to talk about this." Tamarah gushed.
"No we don't, T. We aren't in the same social circles, that not normal. God I hope no one saw that.
