The day and the night seem to always be on the same side
The day my life got to the point where I couldn’t bear it anymore was the same day I was set to graduate from my wretched institution they call school. Was it a relief? Not so much. Although I was nearing 18 and done with the societal subliminal brainwash days, I wasn’t feeling how I always thought I would be. Such a coincidence. The day where I was supposed to be the most happiest turned out to be the day I broke. Not like my parents were doing much to assist with it though considering my mom had filed for divorce from my dad. My loving, caring, dad. My dad who always bought me chocolate ice cream with chocolate sprinkles every time I was low or asked for one. My dad who always dropped me off and picked me up at school on time. My dad-the same guy who always made my countless injuries better with his jokes and ways of making everything into comedy. My dad. I couldn’t believe it. I refused. I don’t have a specific dilemma with my mother it’s just I was always a daddy’s girl. Sorry, I don’t make the rules. I decided to stay out of it however, but only had one thing to say, to my dad. That question was: is it true? He only replied with a melancholy sweet but fake smile. I knew from then that would be our last conversation. In a fit of rage I bought a one way ticket to France. And so, here we are. In an unknown city. Far from the chaos. Far from the friends and peers I never considered real. That takes me to where we are now. Deserted and cold.
