The Girl In-Between

Chapter 6

The sound of rain could be heard hitting my window as i woke up. It was Monday morning, the first day of school. What a perfect day to start right!. Well thank goodness for my new car i got. She was my baby and i love her so much although i only had her a day, i could see me becoming very attached to her.

I stepped in a shower letting the warm water soak my body taking some of the stress i was feeling about going into another new school. Once i was done i headed for my closet. Since it was bucketing down outside i though i best were some skinny jeans, boots that sat below my knee, tank top and a cream cardigan. I'd just use my umbrella to get into the car so save taking a heavy jacket in with me.

As i finished up getting ready i heard my phone beep signaling i had a text message. I flopped on my bed reaching over to the side table and grabbing it.

"Morning gorgeous" I read the name and it was from unknown.

I took the piece of paper from my desk to see if it was in fact Ollies number as i hadn't added it in yet and as i looked at it back and forth between my phone and the piece of paper all the numbers match up.

"Good morning to you to x" i quickly replied.

Not sure how he got my number because i definitely did not give him it.  Must have been  Austin, I grabbed my new bag from the floor i swung it over my shoulder and skipped down stairs for breakfast.

Lucky Austin and Maya were in school still so at least i knew a few people there. I was looking forward to seeing Ollie and our date this weekend. I hope the weather is nice for it otherwise we'll have to do it all in doors.

I loved making new friends and i knew from being back in the pack your all like one big family. They always have your back well that was until ours began to fall apart.

I must admit though that alpha scared the crap out of me and everyone else. Not sure whats going on through his head but only his closest family really knew. I always wonder what his problem was and why he took it out on us. After the Luna was killed he was never the same again.

Oh wells here goes my first day of school. We all walked out and headed to our cars. Austin drove him and Maya and i said i'd drive myself because i wanted to show off my baby.

I put my bag on the passenger seat and started the car up. Checking my mirrors and pulled out before my brother had the chance to move i grinned to myself quickly looking in the mirror before watching the road again.

Wow this place seriously has way to many trees around here. All i could see was green, green and more green. Soon i enter in a quiet street and the school was just up ahead.

Thankfully making it without 15 minutes. I found a car space near the back, i didn't like to seem so kean so i was parked at the back away from everyone else.

'Beep beep' I snapped my head up to see a car tooting at me.

As i looked longer i could see it was Ollie. He pulled up and parked next to me. Turning of the engine grabbing his books and his bag he had his keys in his other hand. Giving me such a big smile and pressing the button on his car to lock up the car. I was leaning against my car trying to look at sexy or something.

"Nice car"

"Thanks, I like to think she is a classic" i swung my bag over my shoulder and we walked towards school.

"Beeeeeep!" Austin's came to a steady stop.

He almost ran us down but lucky he stopped 3 feet in front of us. That was so close what the hell was he doing to not watching where he was driving. He turned into a parking space quickly and then ran out.

"Oh s**t, Kacey i'm soooo sorry. Maya-" I cut him off before he could say anything else

"It's fine you both were getting naughty in the car i get it" Stomping away from him.

I swear they both are like rabbits. I'm thinking of getting my own house or take dad up on his offer to soundproof the place. They are so loud, I hope i'm nothing like them pair rolling my eyes at the thought.

I noticed Ollie was still walking with me as i was nearly at the front door. I caught a whiff of this scent i swear i've smelt this before. Then it clicked. Its Layton. I turned my head to look in the direction it was coming from, there he was standing there with girls all around him.

I took one hard look at him before walking inside. I hope Ollie didn't noticed me looking over there. If he did, he would probably be pissed with me right now.

"I see you noticed Layton there" Yup he sure did notice.

"Mmm" I replied i honestly didn't wanna talk about it. I knew was best to leave it alone.

"He's a player, he always has been" He sounded please that i now know what he was like but could see that i didnt wanna talk about it.

"Yeah, he seemed nice yesterday. Ack well"I shrugged it off. I didn't like people who thought they could have whatever they wanted without it affecting anyone else or hurting someone else. I could tell now that Layton was one of them people.

Ollie walked me to the receiptionist to get my schedule. First i had english then maths. I didn't mind the classes i had but it already felt like it was going to be a long day.

I had Ollie in few of my classes but not the first two i had today. I was rather gutted but i'd see him again at lunch. Austin and Maya turned out to be in my first two classes. As i was now sitting in maths waiting for our teacher to began. I could see Austin and Maya eating one anothers faces off. I rolled my eyes and turned to look out the window instead.

"Hey" I heard someone says from beside me.

"Uh hey" I replied looking this guy up and down. He took the seat next to me as i looked around all the other tables were occupied.

"I'm Mason"

"I'm Kac-" He cut me off.

"Kacey, I know" He spoke then whisper low so no human could hear him " My alpha is Ollie, i'm third in command" He told me.

"Oh hey" I chippered.

I got to know him rather well through class and we had been told him of few times talking. It was time for lunch so Mason showed me where to go.

"Wow" I said a little to loud. My eyes went wide as i saw just how many people came here. If there pack was huge and most of them were around my age it's no wonder this school is big but if there is more humans than wolves i guess it just as bad.

"Most of them are wolves but they aren't all from our pack"Nodding his head over to Layton. Which i followed his nod to look. He looked up from his seat and i rolled my eyes at him. He wore a shocked look on his face. As we headed into the line and grabbed a tray each. I grabbed some fries and a hamburger a bottle of coke. Mason walked us over to a table which turns out that my mate is already here waiting for me. Mason walked around and took a seat. Ollie motion me to sit next to him. He moved over enough to give me more space.

Mason must have informed Ollie he had met me or Ollie asked him to keep an eye out for me. Whatever the reason was i was really glad to be this close to him now. He was smelling better than my food and i could easily suck in his scent and that would do me. I had to control myself. I wondered if this is why my brother and maya were always snogging.

Austin and Maya had join us at the table. They were all deep in conversation as i ate my food slowly. I could see Layton from the corner of my eye. Not sure why it bothers me so much that he's a player but i can't help but watch his movements and the way he is with other girls.

Could he not hold out for his mate or was he just that deprecated. With my focus on him i hadn't realized anyone was talking to me.

"Kacey" I blinked as someone waved their hand in front of me.

"Uh" I looked at them all but they all gave me this blank look.

"Who you looking at?" Austin asked.

"Uh no one, sorry i'm just thinking"

"About?" Ollie not seeming concerned.

"Nothing really" trying to get them off my back but then Ollie look over to where i was looking, lucky Layton had already left with his little girl group.

I smiled as he turned back around to face me. I could tell he didn't look happy that i wasn't listening in to what they were saying and to be honest i wish i had. Because everyone seems so excited about it. i gathered it was to do with Saturday but thats all i got i could pick up.
