Feliz.
It was scorching hot, and I am in a place away from my home! This is like the worst time to spend my vacation on.
I went outside and shed in a nearby coconut tree. There's a bench under it so I sat down while overlooking a view of a farm. The weather is so hot and the sun pierces through your skin that not even sunblock can handle.
From afar, I saw farmers doing their job. I scrunch my nose from the sight. Like, how can they do their job in this scorching heat? Looking at them, they are still laughing and talking despite having a hard job.
“Miss!” I look over at a little boy running over my direction.
“Are you from here?” The kid asked so I smiled at him.
“Nope. I'm just here for summer. I'm staying there!” I pointed at our vacation house and his eyes widened.
“Oh! I heard that people who live there are really rich!” I smiled at him and didn't answer. “Our house is over there!” He pointed at a small house made of wood near the farm. Well, it's not that small, it's a one floor wooden house that I think, a family of five would fit just enough. “and my family is over there! my father, my mother, and my brother!” He pointed at the family at the farm. I look at the ‘brother’ he pointed at.
“That's your brother?” I mindlessly spoke.
“Oh, you're interested in my brother?” The little kid put his little hands on his mouth like he's teasing me. “It's okay! A lot of girls like my brother!” He proudly said. “Because he's handsome! Come! Let's go near! We have some snacks over there!”
Before I could react, the little kid pulled me near their farm. Luckily, there's also a tree and a bench where we could sit. There's also a table and a swing hanging on the tree. On the table, there are really snacks that are also from their farm.
“Oh, who did you bring here, Alec? Haven't I told you before not to pull people?” The woman—who I think is their mom started walking towards us. “I'm sorry for my son's actions,” she said.
“Oh no, It's okay! I'm actually going to wander around the area.” I shyly smiled.
“Are you from the Yjuana family?” she asked and I nodded.
“Hello! I am Sazha, and this little kid is Alec, my son,” she introduced.
“I’m Feliz Yjuana. It's nice to meet you!” I exclaimed.
“So charming! By the way, how old are you?”
“I'm 17.” I shyly said.
“And you're young too! You're almost the same age as my older son. He's over there!” He pointed at the guy that is farming. I wasn't able to notice this when I was far earlier, but now that I am looking closely, he's actually handsome. His tan skin is just as perfect for his masculine face. His disheveled black hair and green eyes perfectly fit his prominent jaw. What am I looking? Am I in a photoshoot? This guy is hot!
“How old is he?” I mindlessly ask, AGAIN!
“Oh, he's 20! His name is Pyro, like a fire! Because when I gave birth to him, I was trying to cook.” Sazha stated. “Boys! Come here! We have a visitor from the Yjuana family!” she shouted and I suddenly became conscious of my appearance when the man looked in our direction.
“No need for that, it looks like they are working,” I exclaimed, feeling extremely shy.
“No, it's okay!”
“Hello! I'm Berzi, nice to meet you!” The father introduced as he shook my hand. The other man looked at me and nodded.
“Pyro..” he briefly introduced. I blushed at how low his voice sounded. It perfectly fits him. As I looked at Alec, his younger brother, he had this teasing face again. I wish I hadn't looked that way!
“Pyro! Don't be rude!” The mother exclaimed, and the father just laughed.
“You know your son is always like that.”
The two men continued what they were doing at the farm while the three of us were sitting at the nearby bench, eating the snack made of banana coated with caramelized sugar.
As I was sightseeing at the farm, I noticed that man—Pyro, looked our way, and when he noticed that I was looking, he immediately looked away.
What was that?
After that day, I always go outside to hang out near the farm—in the slightest chance to talk to that man! But never once did he look at me again! He's always busy farming. What a bummer! He's actually my type.
I never actually hoped for a man's attention. I am always pursued. Ever since—I think, 15 years old? or even younger, boys always look at me! Not to brag actually. But I've been always liked—physically speaking. And I never had the slightest interest with these guys who want nothing but my face. I also never had a crush on someone. No one was worth to be having crush on these past few days anyway! This is the first time in my life wanting someone's attention so bad!—well except my parents, of course.
For the past few days, I failed gaining his attention, and now we're leaving.
After that, I looked forward to the next years of our family tradition—to go to that province. But I never saw him again. I tried to segue asking her mother, and learned that he went to the city to finish his studies and to work as well. Five years have passed now. I am not sure if he'll be there, but I hope he is! I wonder if his appearance changed at all?
