" Why are you here?" Theidta asked, and flopped on the floor. Crossing her legs, she leaned on the wooden wall of the tree house. The Beta walked towards her, sat in front of her, and embraced her. " Don't listen to her. She knows nothing." He mumbled. Theidta hugged him back, and said, " But she told the truth, Christian. I won't turn." Christian broke the hug, and said, " So what? So what you didn't turn? Don't focus on useless things, Thi. Focus on your gift. Find your gift, and empower the world. What do we gain after turning, huh? Don't you remember that it is a curse that was put upon us? Maybe... Maybe you are not worthy of the curse. That is why you could not turn. Be grateful, Thi, and don't listen to that brain sucker." Christian glared at thin air as he remembered Lyla's face. He isn't going to just let her go. He was already thinking of ways to embarrass her in front of everyone. Theidta turned his face towards her so that their eyes could meet. Her forefinger stayed under his chin as he stared into her amber eyes. " You won't be doing such a thing." She said, dropping her chin to give a look at him, which said, ' I know you. Don't do anything which will get you into detention.' Christian heaved a sigh. " Whatever." He muttered, and looked away. After a long minute, Theidta suddenly asked, " Do you ever wonder why don't we have mates, Christian?" The question snapped his head towards her, his brows furrowed, and a lump being created in his throat. Gulping, he asked, " Why? Do YOU think about that?" Theidta looked at him, and nodded. " Why?" Christian asked. " What do you mean why? It would have been nice to have a..a.." " Boyfriend?" Christian completed her sentence, his fists tightening, which he had to hide behind him. Theidta glared at him. " Maybe." She muttered. Christian gave a firm nod, and looked away. Exhaling, his fist loosened, and he started to speak. " Look, Thi, maybe the moon goddess is busy with something… something important. That is why she has forgotten to gift us with mates. But… we are here for you. Me, and Era. Always." He smiled, and put his hand over hers. Theidta sighed, and asked, " Don't you think it's because of me?" Christian frowned at his best friend, and queried, " Why would you think that?" " Maybe I'm a curse to all the werewolves." Theidta stated, staring at her sweaty fingers. Christian let out a chuckle, and commented, " You are way over your head, Thi. You weren't born in 1990." Noticing her fidgeting with the hem of her t-shirt, he joked," Don't think of yourself to be of that much importance." Theidta slowly looked at him, and threw fire daggers at him with her eyes. Christian laughed out loud, to which he received a punch on his stomach, which made him double over but didn't stop the laugh. Theidta got up to her feet, and said, " Come on. Let's go. " Christian stopped laughing, looked up at her, and asked, " Where are we going?" To which Theidta replied, " To bury you somewhere nice." And turned to leave the tree house.
" Why are we here, Thi?" Era asked her best friend as they stopped before a pond, surrounded with water hyacinths. " It used to be our place to hangout daily after school remember?" Theidta asked, gazing at the flowers and the pond. " Wait. Are you thinking what I think you are thinking?" Christian gaped at Theidta, who smiled back. He gasped, and tugged at his hair. " NO WAY!! NUHUH. I'm not doing that." He said, shaking his head to the left and to the right. " Oh, come on. Please. Please. Please?" Theidta pouted at the Beta, who wasn't even looking at her, and continuously shaking his head. "But.. Christian!!" Theidta whined, trying to convince the Beta. " Nope. I was a weird kid back then. I'm afraid to even take it out from the ground." Christian replied to her whines, while shaking his head. " Oh, can you two please tell me what are you talking about?" Era snapped at them. Christian sighed, and looked at his sister. " She wants to dig in, to take out our past from the ground." Christian said. Era's brows scrunched as she kept staring ather brother. Christian shook his head, while staring at the sky, and then looked at his sister, and questioned her, " How do you ace your exams when you can't understand simple things, Eranosaurus?" Era glared at her brother, and threw back a response for which she was proud of herself. " How do you ace in swimming when you are afraid to…to.. dig in your past." She said, then looked at Theidta, and asked with scrunched nose, " Did I say it right?" Theidta grinned and gave a thumbs up. Era gave a firm nod, and a smile, which turned into frown when she looked back at her brother's red face. " What do we have to dig?" Era asked again. " The Time capsule!" This time Theidta was the one to speak up. Era gaped at her best friend, which turned into a loud shriek, making Christian cover his ears out of annoyance. " Why don't you want to open it, Delgado?" Era asked her brother. " Yeah. I don't know either. Why are you so afraid?" Theidta frowned at the Beta, who huffed, and turned. " Just do it already. And don't look at my stuff." He said. Theidta brought out three small shovels from her backpack, which surprised the Beta. " Why…why do you have shovels in your bag like a f*cking murderer?" The Beta asked, his hands on his hips, and blank face which was already tired of the nuisances. Theidta smiled at the Beta, and handed him a small shovel. " Come on. I am not a murderer. I planned this few days ago." She said to her friends, and then walked to the area of the ground where they had put their time capsules in. Theidta was the one to take out her time capsule, and Era was the next. Christian took the time capsule out at last, and turned from their curious stares. He hid the small box under his thin jacket, and snapped, " Don't look at it!" Theidta, and Era looked at each other with a smile which promised evil, and then they looked at the Beta, and grinned like maniacs. That's what the Beta commented. Christian slowly walked back, staring at his best friend and sister. They had that same psychotic look when they drowned his all white shirts which he wore to school in pink dye. The Beta was worried. His wide eyes were looking back and forth. From his sister to his best friend, his hand clutching his small treasure as tightly as a swimmer's hand could.
