✦ Rana Mansion – The Day of Decision ✦
The atmosphere in Rana Mansion was tense. After all, today was the day when a girl’s family was coming to see Abhiyansh.
Abhiyansh had already arrived at the mansion, but his face was clouded with anger. It was evident that he was in no mood for this arrangement.
"Young man, fix your face. Otherwise, the alliance might break just by looking at you!"
Shashwat Ji remarked sarcastically upon noticing Abhiyansh’s sour expression.
Abhiyansh scoffed, "If that’s the case, I’ll make my face even worse!"
"Don’t even think about it!"
A sharp voice came from behind. It was Neelam Ji, his mother, walking towards them with an air of authority.
"Your marriage will happen, no matter what! You are Dadaji’s favorite grandson. Do you think he would ever make a wrong decision for you?"
Abhiyansh turned to her with frustration, "Mom! Forcing someone into marriage, that too with a girl I don’t even know, how is that a good decision for me?"
"Shut up!"
Neelam Ji snapped, slamming the tray she was carrying onto the table.
Abhiyansh immediately looked at his father, Lakshit Ji, as if pleading for support. His expression clearly said, “Dad, say something to your wife!”
Lakshit Ji, however, merely shrugged. "Son, you are hoping for help from the wrong person. Even I don’t dare to argue with your mother. If I even try to put my opinion forward, I might end up sleeping outside the house tonight!"
He reached out to take a biscuit from the tray, but before he could, Neelam Ji smacked his hand away.
"Don’t you dare touch these biscuits! They are for the girl’s family!"
Lakshit Ji pouted dramatically, "Baby Sahib, first of all, we have such a grown-up son now, so stop hitting me in front of everyone! And secondly, there are plenty of biscuits. Let me have just one, I’m starving!"
Neelam Ji folded her arms across her chest and glared. "I had these biscuits specially imported from the U.S. within a day! You are not touching them!"
With that, she stormed off to the kitchen, leaving Lakshit Ji muttering under his breath. He stomped his foot like a child. "Once upon a time, everyone used to fear me. But ever since she came into my life, I’ve been the one afraid! Marriage is a trap! Those who eat regret, those who don’t, crave it!"
He hummed the last line as he walked away.
Watching this entire scene unfold, both Abhiyansh and Shashwat Ji shook their heads in disbelief.
Shashwat Ji sighed, "He has two grown-up kids, yet he still behaves like a child!"
Abhiyansh smirked and leaned closer, "Which is why I sometimes doubt if he’s really my dad!"
Shashwat Ji chuckled but soon noticed something. "By the way, where is that good-for-nothing brother of yours? And his useless friends?"
Just as he finished speaking, a sweet voice called out from the stairs.
"Dadu!"
Shashwat Ji turned towards the direction of the voice, his eyes softening instantly. Standing at the top of the stairs was a young girl, around nineteen, dressed in a mini frock. Behind her stood a couple.
Shashwat Ji’s face lit up. "Ah, my princess!"
He opened his arms wide, and without a moment’s hesitation, the girl ran into them, hugging him tightly.
(She was the heart and soul of the Rana family—their beloved princess, Pari.)
Meanwhile, the woman from the couple stepped forward and respectfully touched Shashwat Ji’s feet.
"Papa Ji, where is Didi? I don’t see her anywhere."
Shashwat Ji responded flatly, "She’s in the kitchen, preparing for the girl’s family visit today."
Before the woman—Sweta Ji, Abhiyansh’s aunt and the younger daughter-in-law of the Rana family—could say anything further, Abhiyansh stepped forward and grabbed her hand like a child.
"Chhoti Maa, please talk to Mom and Dadu! They are forcing me into this marriage, with a girl I don’t even know!"
Sweta Ji turned towards Shashwat Ji, concern in her eyes. "Papa Ji, is it really okay to force a child into marriage?"
Shashwat Ji’s expression hardened. "We don’t want to hear another word about this. Everything we do is for our grandson’s well-being. We don’t need anyone’s opinion on this matter."
His stern response made Sweta Ji clench her fists in frustration, her nails digging into her palm. However, she quickly masked her emotions and responded with a forced smile. "As you say, Papa Ji."
She then walked off towards the kitchen.
The moment she left, Shashwat Ji turned his gaze toward the man beside him—Abhijit, Sweta’s husband.
"Abhijit, don’t you think it’s time you taught your wife not to interfere in my decisions? This was my final warning. Make sure she understands it."
With that, Shashwat Ji sat down on the sofa, pulling Pari along with him.
Abhiyansh, however, had already made up his mind.
He was not going to let this marriage happen. No matter what, he would drive the girl’s family away today.
A slow, mischievous smirk crept onto his face.
