Dare-to-do List
"Why are you smiling so much today, you have never been happy about this marriage" Princess Diana was questioned by her mother who was helping her get ready for the marriage ceremony. Diana couldn't help but smile more as she grins from ear to ear.
Princess Diana is the first daughter of the royal family in the small kingdom of Mobor. Being the first girl her fate was already sealed as she was to be given out in marriage to a Prince from Laguna the strongest kingdom that shares a border with Morbo. It was the fate of the free-willed Princess, one that cannot be escaped except by death or if the contract was never triggered before she was thirty years.
After so much protest, Diana resigned to fate with the idea of making a dare to-do list before she gets married. The whole idea of the list only made her feel better a little but that was it. She had always carried a long face around the palace from the moment she was informed of her marriage date.
Diana was particularly angry with her mother wondering why she was willing to give out her daughter against her will right from birth.
"There are some things we cannot control in this world. We just have to endure the process. I believe with time you will understand"
Those were the usual reply from her mother whenever she brought up this issue.
Everyone had imagined that today was going to be a sad day for her as she was going to land where she knew no one and entering a royal family she have heard so many rumors about. But she surprised everyone by waking up with a big smile that day.
"If I don't know you I would say you are happy you are getting married, what is your secret? " this time the question came from Joan her youngest sister who was assisting their mother in getting her ready.
"I have discovered that there is nothing I can do about this marriage so why can't I just be happy about it" Diana replied flashing her best smile. She could tell from the face of her mother and sister that they were struggling to understand her.
"It is probably because of last night " a voice spoke from outside as the door opened to reveal her immediate younger sister Juana with a mischievous smile on her face.
Diana's face suddenly turned pale. She didn't imagine that anyone knew about last night.
" What happened last night?' Her mother asked curiously.
"Nothing Mother" Diana quickly gave a reply looking at Juana with a frown on her face.
"That's a lie, she sneaked out of the palace" Juana reported looking pleased with herself.
Diana felt betrayed by herself. She knew she had always been jealous of the fact that she wasn't the one getting married to the prince from Laguna. She had offered to take the place of Diana but her parents refused since then there has been a silent battle between them.
"Where did you go?" Her mother asked with a worried look on her face.
"I told you Mother, it is nothing I just went out for some air outside this palace considering that was my last night in this kingdom " Diana replied with a frown on her face as she looks at her sister.
"Where did she go? Her mother asked turning to Juana hoping for more details.
" That's all I know Mother, I didn't border to follow her
" Then why didn't you report it? Her mother fired back scared that Diana might have toyed with the idea of running away.
Diana was glad that Juana didn't follow her. It would have been more of a problem if she had discovered what she went for last night.
************
Diana had made a daring move yesterday night . No, she was not going to try running away. She was going to check the last thing on her dare-to-do list, that is to get laid.
The plan was simple, go to a pup in disguise and find a partially drunk man, seduce him get laid, and be back before anyone noticed her absence. From the gossip in the palace, she had an idea of where to go although she has never been there. The first task was sneaking out of the palace which was the easiest part for her. She knew her way around the palace like the back of her palm but on that particular night, everything looked difficult. The present circumstance and thought of what she was going to do made her tremble. How was she going to explain that a woman who was about to be married was sneaking out of the palace. On her way out she had a strange feeling that someone was following her but she ignored it after making back turns severally and seeing no one.
Just like the palace maids have said, the nearest pub was on the east side of the road coming from the palace and she had no difficulty locating it.
It was a pub meant for both men and women so Diana had no problem blending it especially since she discarded her royal robes on her way. As usual, there were more men than women in the pub with many taking several looks at her. She was not concerned as she knew no one would recognize her. She was not a princess that comes out during the day due to the restrictions from her parents She was always sneaking out at night and encountering just a few people to who she never told her identity
"Please give me your strongest wine" she ordered the keeper immediately after she sat down. The fear in her was beginning to slip away gradually. She would need the drink to kill the last bits of fear in her.
The pub keeper looked at her suspiciously wondering why a young girl of her age would make orders that are usually made by men.
" You should give the young lady what she wants, everybody right now is going through a lot" a masculine voice came from behind Diana in support of her.
She turned back to see a young man with blue eyes staring at her with a dry smile on his face.
