Breakfast

Diana felt more nervous preparing for breakfast than she did for her wedding. For the first time, she was going to meet other members of the family and it made her belly turn. She was so cautious in her dressing that she took so much time till Apah complained. "You are taking too much time to prepare for a simple breakfast" he scolded her. But Diana didn't care, she wanted to create a lasting impression of herself, especially before the wives of the other Princes. She was also concerned if that would be a routine for every day "Are we supposed to do this every morning? She asked as she stepped out to meet Apah who out of frustration have been standing outside. 'No, we do this once a month. Can we go now we are running late" he sighed in frustration. He had always known that women take more time in preparation but felt she had taken too much time. Apah always prides himself on being the first to show up for family breakfast whenever it is called. He quickly ushered her into a waiting carriage making her reason that the palace must be very big if they are using a carriage to take breakfast within the palace. "By the way, you look pretty " Apah complimented without looking at her. His words made Diana blush. She was disappointed when she initially came out and he didn't say anything about her dressing. She could swear she noticed him stare for some seconds before she entered the carriage and now she was right. In less than one minute they stopped before a small building. Stepping out Diana noticed it was not too far from the quarters and she began to wonder why they came in a carriage. "We are already late, that's why I ordered the carriage " Apah informed her seeing the look on her face. "Stop doing that" "Doing what? " Stop acting like you know everything in my head," she said with a frown on her face as she was tired of him providing answers before they are asked. Apah looked amazed that she would find it annoying. Somehow he was able to read her body movements well to some extent and that has always been a gift for him. So he only smiled as she complains As she was speaking she noticed two tough-looking men walk up to them. "My Prince we almost thought you were not coming, " one of them said bowing slightly to him. 'Harold and Linker meet Princess Diana, my wife, she is the reason why I came late " Apah introduced them. " These men are my captains and must be trusted friends," he said turning to Diana who had a fake smile on her face. "My Lady," They said with their head down again. "Where is Bishop?" He asked looking around. "He is out, still investigating the incident " Harold replied giving the prince a knowing look. "Thank you for saving our prince," he said turning to face Diana who maintain her smile. She was tired of hearing that, her job was to save people when she can. He must have told them about her "Okay then let us proceed," Apah said with a wave of his hands as he led the way Diana walked closer to him and whispered in his ears. "You could easily have introduced me without adding the fact you came late because of me," She said causing Apah to only smile. "God how she hates when he smiles instead of replying here" "What kind of a husband blames a wife for coming late to a function" she continued to speak in his ears making Linker and Harold exchange glances. They have never seen any woman trouble Apah so much without getting scolded. "Stop your nagging we are here already, " Apah said as he pushed a door in front of him. From that point, Linker stood behind while Harold went with him. Diana could hear chattering as they drew closer. She braced herself for what was to come. "I am not sure Apah would join us today for breakfast we can proceed without him" Diana heard a male voice announce as they drew closer before taking a bend to reveal the dining table. Everyone's jaw seem to drop when they saw Apah and Diana work. Their gazes were fixed more on Diana than Apah. Diana quickly made the mental calculation, they were two males and four females on the table. They must be his brothers, their wives, and his sisters. She knew instantly she had overdressed when compared to the other ladies He led her to a space reserved for him and with a nod of the head instructed Harold to bring another chair for Diana to be placed closer to him. Diana could see that the table was arranged according to the number of expected people. They were no empty chairs on the table but in a corner of the room. She also noticed one guard each standing behind his brothers. The same position Harold took after returning with a chair for her. Their seats were fixed on the other edge of the table opposite a prince who Diana suspects would be his elder brother It was at that moment Apah sat down and motioned for her to sit down. Diana observed that there was an unusual silence on the table the moment they walked in with eyes fixed on her. "First of all, you came late and you came in here with a stranger, Are you looking to make me angry?" The Prince at the top of the table questioned Apah immediately after he took his seat. Diana concluded immediately that she was right with her guess. "I strongly apologize for coming late, I had an urgent business to deal with this morning" Apah replied in a dry voice. Diana felt bad for making him come late but she was glad he didn't mention her as the reason for coming late like he did before. She didn't like the fact he was being questioned like a kid "And who is the stranger beside you? He asked further. " I am not a stranger, I am his wife " Diana blurted out taking everyone including Apah by surprise
