Rosemary I fluttered my eyes open, the soft beeping of machines filling the room like an unfamiliar lullaby. The strange scent of the hospital assaulted my senses, sterile and cold. My body felt impossibly heavy, every limb weighed down by exhaustion I couldn’t shake. I tried to lift my hand, to move my fingers, but even that simple action felt like wading through thick mud.
