My eyes widened as I beheld the box. “You have it on you? Did you know I’d want it?”
“I had a hunch we could use it soon,” Sage admitted with a teasing smile. “And perhaps I, too, wished to help these people.”
“We could use some more time!” Caius shouted as he looked back to the pair.
The wall in front of Hoshi and Ayame were pummeled by the creature’s tails, and with each attack a few small c****s appeared in the protection. Ayame winced and shrank back. The light from her ring flickered.
Hoshi tightened his grip on her hand, but he, too, looked to be in pain with each blow. “We must hold on!” he insisted.
