Chapter Twenty-Two “Come on!” My voice was hoarse in my own ears as I touched Tahlia’s shoulder and urged her to a faster pace. She shot me a wild, questioning look. I smiled and nodded in encouragement, not wanting to waste my breath, or announce my plan to the world at large. Tahlia’s brow furrowed and her jaw clenched as she forced her tired legs to pick up speed. I seemed to led us in a straight line down the street, but at the last minute, I pulled Tahlia around a corner onto a side street. She stumbled beside me, but kept going.
