CHAPTER THIRTEEN John opens his eyes and looks around the dank jail cell. His hands are cuffed to the thick metal bars that are holding him in. He’s sitting on the floor, propped up against the wall. The room is made up entirely of three other small cells, they’re separated by the bars alone. The other cells are empty. John is completely alone, in excruciating pain, and afraid. He prays that Michael will be able to find some kind of proof that he’s innocent. He’s grateful that Michael isn’t locked up next to him, it’s the only hope he has to hold onto. Sheriff Black mozies in, with Mr. Crawl at his heels. “You have a visitor, boy,” the Sheriff mumbles to John with his head hung low. Mr. Crawl wraps his fist around the bars holding John.
