CHAPTER FIFTEEN
Michael has a surge of hope that Chloe can be saved. It has been close to an hour since he watched Evan carry her off. Together, with Steven and Mr. Smith they have a much better chance of catching up to them. He hopes Evan wouldn’t have been able to travel very far or very fast carrying Chloe over his shoulder. As long as she’s still alive now, he’ll get to her. They have a chance, if they’re smart. If they’re fast.
Little do they know, Sheriff Black had come up on the scene only minutes after they left. He’s already let John go, and is on his way with a small posse. Close, they’re very close behind. And, not too far behind them is Leroy with John and a few tracking dogs. It’s all coming to a head, a race against time… against Evan.
