CHAPTER 8

Victoria has been planning on sending someone to go break the good news to Senator Dan. She was thinking of going to the lawyer's office. But then she thought of Jordan, her first son.

“Maybe if I send Jordan to Senator Dan, that will make him closer and familiar to him. And Senator Dan might as well attend to his needs faster”, she thought.

But Victoria isn't that comfortable with the idea of sending Jordan over. She is afraid that Jordan might go there and start misbehaving since he still doesn't support the idea of his sister getting married to the Billionaire Senator.

“This boy might go there and put himself in trouble. On the other hand, if he behaves himself,this might be a huge opportunity for him. Gosh! Jordan is just unpredictable! He is never serious with his life. I think I need someone who will talk some sense into his head…” Victoria thought worriedly.

Victoria got to lawyer Titus' office and discussed with him the issue at hand and then asked him to reach out to Senator Dan about the good news. Lawyer Titus then agreed to get in touch with the Billionaire Senator as soon as possible so as to break the news to him.

Later that day, Elena's mother thought of the next step to take.She thought of inviting her sister over, so as to assist with the whole preparation.

She was still planning this in her head when Elena also arrived

“We need to start our private preparation now, I am also thinking of inviting your aunt over so she can help with the preparations. But the problem now is the fund. We don't have money to start any preparation now, that's more reason we will have to wait for the Senator to summon us… there's nothing we can do without money” Victoria said

“Maybe we shouldn't invite Aunt Mary over now since we don't have money at hand. It would look as if we are just wasting her time here. When we have the money then we can call her” Elena suggested.

“ Yeah! You are right. We will have to wait till we hear from Senator Dan. Also we didn't even know whether the lawyer had contacted him or not. Because I know that if lawyer Titus had reached out to him, he wouldn't even waste anymore time before getting back to us,because I know he cannot wait to have you!” Victoria teased and winked at her daughter as she continued to tease her.

“Do you even know how much Senator Dan loves you? that man really cares so much about you, he cannot even toy with you. I am not sure you noticed the look on his face that day. The way he stares at you, he can't even take his eyes off you. Look at the way he promised you and us heaven and earth. A man that truly loves you, will love your family too no matter what. And that's exactly who your husband-to-be is”. Elena's face has fully turned red when her mother mention her husband to be and she can't help but grin widely

Victoria continued talking to her daughter “Since it is certain that your husband-to-be will fulfil his own path of the deal, you on the other hand have to fulfill your own path too by being a better wife to your husband. I want you to have a flashback of the kind of life your late father and I lived before his demise, and use that as an example in your marriage. Remember, I have always loved your father and vice versa. I have always been submissive and let him take charge and this is one of the reasons our marriage was waxing strong. Your dad and I don't have any secrets. He knows everything about me and so do I.”

“I am telling you all this today so that you can practice them in your marriage. Do not forget that you have to be loyal to your husband in all ways. Do not keep bad friends as bad friends corrupt good manners.”

“Also learn to cook delicious and nice food. Since you guys are just getting to know each other, but with time you will discover your husband's favorite food and that's what you will make from time to time for him.”

“Lastly, I want you to be a peaceful woman to your husband. I know you are a very gentle person but what I am saying is that you should make your home a peaceful place of rest for your husband after a long day out there. Remember, your husband has other wives,he is not only for you. But whenever he is around you,try to make the atmosphere at home peaceful and cool. With that your husband will always want to come to your place every time because men love a peaceful home.”

“My darling daughter, I just gave you the secret to a peaceful home and long lasting marriage. Please do well to let this information sink into your mind and always remember all of them. If you are able to do all this in your marriage, I bet you will be the best and favorite of all the wives.” Victoria said with an assuring smile.

On the other hand, Tony had not been himself ever since Elena broke the news to him. He had been the shadow of himself. He was just hoping for a miracle to happen, but it seems no miracle is on the way.

A lot of things came to his mind like assassinating Senator Dan, poisoning his food, pouring him acid and all. He even thought that he encountered a life claiming accident but none is happening.

“What have I done to deserve all this oh God! I have been cheated and treated badly right from a child. The people I love are the ones who always betrayed me right from my uncles that my parents entrusted their properties in their hands, eventually betrayed me and fled with the properties, all that he had left was just his grandmother.Elena,the only one I know, trust and believed in now is slipping out of my hand and there's nothing I can do. What have I done wrong? What have I done to deserve all this? Why is all this happening to me?”

“What can I do to get what rightfully belongs to me? He continue to sob,

“Elena is mine and mine alone and I'm getting her back.” Tony got up from the floor he was sitting on and started pacing up and down,sweating as he kept talking to himself. He looked so unkept and dealt with.

“I'm gonna get her back no matter what it costs me,” he said determinedly.

Tony's grandma had been begging him to calm down with the whole thing. She kept on telling him sweet words so that he won't do something irrational. Grandma is scared that he might hurt himself or get hurt. Grandma knows too well who Senator Dan is and knows too well what he is capable of doing. He knows Senator Dan can be dangerous whenever he wants something badly. Grandma kept on reminding him that there is a brighter future ahead of him,even though the brightness isn't showing.Grandma said there's always light at the end of the tunnel, but Tony isn't buying that idea. As a matter of fact, he wants a faster miracle, he wants something to happen immediately.

“I think I need to do something as soon as possible, I need to act fast. Maybe if I inform Jeff and Mike,there might be a solution. I just want to deal with that damn man so that he will know that you don't take what is not yours no matter who you are. There are some people that have to learn to stay in their place no matter what. Nothing like marriage is happening, there's no such thing.” Tony thought.

Tony's grandma had been praying that God changed his mind fast before the worst happened. She knows what Senator Dan is capable of doing and that he could be their worst nightmare. He is not going to mind wasting his grandson's life to pave the way for him.

Hell no! Grandma cannot afford to lose his only hope and only grandson.

“I cannot let my only hope slip away from my face. I cannot afford to lose Tony now. Oh God!What is happening to us? Grandma lamented

“I think I need to start a special prayer for Tony, as soon as possible. Even if it makes me starve myself,I don't mind.I also think I should inform the church committee, in order to assist with prayers and counseling. Yes! Tony really needs counseling. Maybe if he gets counselled, he can change his mindset and think positively. Please Lord, guide his footsteps and lead him on the right path.” Grandma thought and prayed.”
