Accalia’s POV
“How are the people you went to visit?” I asked her, changing the topic.
“They are fine, we are planning something but it is a secret.” She stated.
“Will you let me in on the secret?” I asked her pleadingly.
“Nah.” She answered laughing.
“Must be so funny,” I commented.
“It's just a surprise for one of our friends and you're not in the friend group.” She stated.
“Oh, alright,” I answered.
“You should check the farms, I think some weeds are encroaching on the area,” I told her.
She ran outside in shock and smiled when she saw the farms.
“You can see that I can plan surprises too.” I started and she started to laugh.
“How long did it take you to clean everywhere? You did a good job.” She told me.
“An hour, two or three. I didn't keep track of time.” I stated.
“Perhaps your evidence that you and my brother were not doing anything illegal.” She said with a wink.
“Oh, I wouldn't even hide that from you. I'm a good f-friend, a good person in general.” I stated.
We saw Davis coming out of the house.
“Hey, Davis!” I called out to him.
“Hey,” He responded uninterestedly.
“When is the next training?” I asked him.
I watched how Felicia kept scrutinizing him. She really wanted to know what was going on between us.
“Tomorrow, I guess.” He said, rolling his eyes.
“You guys are acting all creepy,” Felicia stated.
“Creepy? We're good now.” I told her.
“Aren't we?” I asked Davis, placing my arms around his shoulder.
“I guess. Get off me shorty.” He started, slightly pushing off my hand.
“See… we're buddies.” I told Felicia.
In the evening>>>
“I still cannot understand how you and Davis settled the dispute so fast,” Felicia stated, staring at me suspiciously.
“Don't overthink it,” I responded with a smile.
“I could have sworn in my life that Davis would never allow you to join any of the team.” She added.
“Guess you shouldn't be so sure of anything,” I stated.
“I've known Davis all my life and he isn't this easy to persuade.” She objected.
“People change,” I remarked with a shrug.
After two minutes of contemplating whether or not to believe me, she finally settled with my reply.
“Your best friend…” I started changing the topic.
“What about her?” She asked me.
“You don't talk about her enough,” I stated.
“How did you guys become friends?” I asked.
She laughed for a while before responding.
“Her name is Jessica. We practically grew up together in this pack and we have similar strengths so we clicked.” She stated.
“Is she mated to anybody?” I asked her.
“That's a weird question but yes, she is and her union is about to come up.” She answered.
“Nice.” I responded, unsure of how to continue the conversation and get the information that I needed.
“Do you know this mate?” I asked her.
“Of course. He's a friend of mine too.” She answered.
“Why are you asking though?” She looked at me.
“Just trying to know more about her in case I meet her someday,” I answered, giving a blank expression.
“I can't wait for that day. I know I will be in charge of the preparation as her best friend.” She said excitedly.
“Is it possible for one to cheat on their betrothed?” I asked her.
“Sure. But there's a big punishment to it.” She stated.
“First of all, you cannot have s*x with who you are not mated to. Then having s*x with someone who isn't your mate is an even worse offense.” She added.
“That's interesting,” I stated.
“Are you tempted to do something like that? Because you've been so keen on this topic.” She looked at me suspiciously.
“I guess I'm just trying to understand how it works here and I'm loving it. Because if I grew up here, no one would have ever planned to sell me off.” I stated.
She looked unsure for a while. “Well, they can sell you and ensure you're mated to him.” She responded.
“Is that possible?” I asked in surprise.
“Yes, there are ways around it.” She shrugged.
I wanted to ask more about Jessica but I decided I had already asked enough for today so that Felicia would not be suspicious.
I couldn't help but wonder why Jessica would cheat on her mate with Davis.
Apart from being disloyal, they also didn't consider the punishments that could take place if they were caught.
“I am just excited about tomorrow's training.” I stated.
“I was even thinking of letting you handle the chores while I go for the training but you're lucky you already did them.” She stated.
“Welcome to the club.” She added.
“I cannot imagine what that would have caused me to do.” I started and laughed.
The next day>>>
We set out to go to the training, I was more than excited for our journey.
I made sure I took my bath first but my enthusiasm faltered when I realized that I didn't have anything to wear.
As if Felicia knew what was on my mind, she threw on a two-piece training clothing at me.
I thanked her and proceeded to try it on. It hugged my body perfectly.
“You look so good in it.” Felicia complimented me.
I blushed. “Awww thanks.”
“I can't wait. I'm so excited for this training.” I added.
“As if it is not already so obvious.” She stated.
“I'm happy for you irrespective of whatever you did to make Davis change his decision.” She added.
I was thrilled to start my day at the training ground. I couldn't wait to be powerful and explore my powers.
We arrived at the training ground in no time and I noticed people started to stare and exchange glances with me.
“Adele, I told you that leggings are fire. Everyone's eyes are on you.” Felicia told me.
“You look good.” A guy said and waved at me.
“Told ya,” Felicia said, winning at me.
“Good luck finding your way around.” She told me before running off to join her friends.
“I looked around and saw Austin, that was a good start. I decided to approach him and start a conversation.
“ Hi, Austin.” I greeted.
He looked shocked to see me and also expressed shock when he realized I knew his name.
“Hi Adele.” He answered.
“You didn't help me as promised.” I said, going straight to the point.
“I tried but…” He trailed off.
“But?” I asked.
“Well, he didn't want to hear any of it. Seems like he already made up his mind.” He answered.
“So what did you do about that?” I asked him.
“Nothing. I'm sorry.” He apologized.
“You're not a man of your word.” I teased him.
“No, I promise I am. It's just…” He trailed off.
“There's no way you're beating the allegations, you just proved it to me.” I said laughing.
“I'm sorry, you know how Davis can be.” He stated.
“Well, I don't,” I answered.
“Because he already let me join,” I added.
He looked at me, surprise written all over his face.
“That's nice.” He finally said after a short silence.
“I might need to learn the skills you used though so that I can use them in the future.” He joked.
I laughed at his not so funny joke.
“It was nice conversing with you,” I stated.
“Likewise.” He answered, nodding politely.
“Nice outfit by the way.” He added.
I gave him my best smile before walking to the rest of the invalids.
I watched as some of them stared at me in jealousy and some stared at me in admiration.
“Hi, wolves.” I greeted them.
“Hi, ” Some responded while some just stared at me without responding. They had probably taken the greeting to be an insult since they didn't have powers.
“I guess I'll be joining you guys here.” I told them, to make sure they knew that I wasn't trying to mock them or anything.
If anything, I was also part of them. The statement made some of them look comfortable while some felt I was lying.
“Hi.” Someone called out to me. I turned around to see a shy-looking lady.
She looked around my age and size but with fuller hips and larger eyeballs.
“Hi,” I returned her greeting.
“You seem to be new here. Do you know someone in this pack or you're just an intruder?” She asked.
I was surprised at how innocent she looked but the words coming out of her mouth were vile.
“Yes. We don't allow strangers into our pack.” Another chimed in.
“Sorry guys but I'm Felicia and Davis's cousin.” I told them with a small smile.
They were shocked immediately when they heard the information.
“Sorry about that.” The first girl apologized. I laughed at them.
Soon there was noise all over the training ground. I turned around to find a car packing and people hailing the person in the car.
It was weird. I couldn't wait to catch a glimpse of who it was that was in the car.
