Chapter 8 HOME

JACE POV

Mickey and I are waiting on the sofa in Eros home office and I'm trying to recap 'WHAT THE f**k JUST HAPPENED'.

As soon as I pulled up in front the house Eros and Mickey were already waiting. We rushed Marco to a room where the doctor was on stand by with everything set up. Eros had told us to wait for him in the office and here we were waiting, just waiting.

Eros walks in and I stand but before I can ask him how was Marco he raise his hand palm forward telling me to stop, "He's gonna be fine, he was shot in the abdomen, luckily it didn't hit anything important and the second hit his shoulder. The doctor said he went into hypovolemic shock .... he passed out ...because he lost alot of blood. He'll be ok son." He says the last part looking me directly in the eye. I just nod.

"So tell us what happen and where is Cecile?"

"I don't know, he just left us."

Eros, "He just left."

I started telling Eros in detail of what happened and just as I reach the part where Cecile drove off guess who walks in Cecile the snake.

EMMA POV

I grew tired of waiting on Jace in my room, I needed to see if everything was okay so I decided to check on him downstairs instead. As I approached the foot of the stair case I could hear yelling coming from my dads office and before I knew it I was already at the door which was left ajar, then there was silence. My dad called out "is everything okay princess."

Shit "I ah ... dad is" I stepped in "I ... is JACE" his white tshirt was covered with blood. "WHAT HAPPEN IS EVERYTHING OKAY JACE" I moved passed my dad and Mickey straight to him.

My dad look toward Jace and then me then to Jace again. "Ems you should go upstairs we're in the middle of something important."

"But you ... what happened?"

Jace, "Ems its ok, I'm... see." he lifted his tshirt to show me it wasn't his blood. 

Before either of us could say something my dad cut in, "Princess he didn't get hurt, I promise I would never put him in harms way, we still need to work out a few thing, can you head up so we could wrap things up here."

I look up at Jace then my dad then I realized there was also Cecile and Mickey in the room so without any more hesitation I walked out closing the door behind me.

I was in my room for more than an hour waiting before I decided to go wait in Jace's room. I sat in a chair in the corner by the balcony door inside his room, not wanting to disturb anything, just to make sure everything was right. Even though he wasn't hurt something didn't sit right in me. Maybe I'm over thinking thing but it would hurt to check on him before I went to bed. I hugged my legs with my head resting on my knees, feeling a bit tired, just steering, I never noticed how neat Jace was everything in its place. Even his desk, clear not a paper or pencil out. I always have books out.

The door knob turned breaking my concentration. I remain still steering at him walking through the doorway he closed the door, with his head hung low he walked toward the bed and sit down, back facing me. He sat still without moving in the dark, which made me get a little worried so got up and walked around the bed. He quickly put something in the draw and stood in front of me.

Jace, "Ems you really should go to bed."

"I just needed to make sure you were ok" I replied.

He took off his jacket and through it on his desk and then pulled his tshirt off, "I'm okay, I just need a shower and a good nights rest."

I didn't believe him something was off why did he just sit there. If I didn't get up how long would he have stayed like that. He got up, as he walked pass me I hugged him from behind resting my head on his back. Because I'm so short my head was under his shoulder blades but it didn't matter. For a moment I didn't know if I was comforting him or me. Jace and dad are the only family I have. If something happened to him or dad I don't know if I could take it. We stood there for a while before I let him go so he could take a shower and when to my room.

EROS POV

I had Mickey say back and called Adam after Jace and Cecile went to their rooms. Mickey is my right hand and Adam is head of security. Mickey has always been with me, so he became my right hand after Andrea's death. We waited for Adam to arrive before we can start. We filled him in on the details and he pull out an Ipad with a video clip. Adam had installed hidden cameras in a few spot in the club and he was showing us the footage of the incident.

Everything happen just as Jace said the guy opposite him reached for his gun first but what I also notice was the guy at the door and Cecile run out. From this angle I cant tell if its because of the gun fire or if he ran after him. The rest of the footage in the club was no use because it was pitch black but we did see outside when Cecile drove off. To that he said he saw the guys in the ally and made the block and when he was back at the club he didn't see Jace's car and assume they got away.

He then showed me footage from two hours before Jace and the guys arrived at the club. Danny that weasel had a meeting with someone but we could see his face because of the hat he wore. We all sat and discussed how to proceed from there. Adam need to find out more about the identity of the man in the hat and Mickey need to deal with or weasel problem and get a clean up crew. 

Tonight was suppose to be easy it was suppose to be a simple meeting moving Jace up. I know he's to young but he's proven himself time and time again. He handled himself well but I don't know if I like the idea of him being put at risk but he keeps stepping up and its only so much I can hold him back. This life is in his blood.

After we rapped up I went up to wish the kids good night. First I checked in on Emma I know she was more then worried especially seeing Jace in that bloody tshirt but she seemed better she said she spoke to Jace when he came up and is fine so I took her word for it. Then I headed to Jace room, I knocked and entered when I heard him say come in. He was standing there in joggers and drying his hair with a towel. 

Jace, "Hey Tio, just about to head to bed."

"Hey son, I think we need to talk ... about today."

Jace, "Tio, he was going for his gun, I didn't have a_"

I cut him off before he could finish, "I know, you did the right thing. Adam have some footage of what happened but there we alot for blind spots, don't worry about that."

"What I actually wanted to tell you is you did good, but I want you to focus on school, its you final year, most kids your age cant handle that alone much less finals and a job and a stressful one at that."

Jace, "You tell me I did good and then turn around and say focus on school what good is school if I already know what I'll be doing after."

"Jace, son I need you to go to collage so you have something incase later you decide this is not for you. This life style is not for everyone and you're still young. So don't argue I could have lost you tonight and it made me think of your future."

When I was finished he was silent, god I hope I'm doing the right thing. "Now get some rest you have your whole life ahead of you this year decide what you want to do in collage." After turned to walk out I stopped while closing the door, "Love you son, good night."

"Tio, love you too." he replied, I smiled and closed the door. These kids are my everything. They are the ones who keeps the monster at bay, they are my home.
