Disobedience
Aurelia's POV.
“Weakling, weakling, weakling.” They kept on chanting. Those people who were supposed to be my family, my friends and pack members were against me.
I should be angry, I should be motivated to do more, but I couldn't because they were right. I was a weakling.
My name is Auriela, an omega without a wolf. My parents disowned me when they found out that I couldn't shift. I was forced to be a servant of one of the most respectable beta families.
I never gave up hope because I always believed there was a wolf inside me, deep down, but standing here, right now, I knew I was wrong. The weight of the tree trunk was weakening every bone in my body. Other wolves carried it effortlessly and then, there was me. I couldn't even lift it up.
I couldn't hold on to the tree trunk much longer. I had two options. It was either I let the tree trunk crush me or accept defeat. After today, there would no longer be a test for me to prove myself as a worthy wolf.
I closed my eyes tightly, allowing a teardrop to run down my cheeks. I couldn't. “Help me.” I whispered, accepting defeat.
“I knew she couldn't do it.” I heard one of my pack members say in a disdainful tone.
“She just wasted our time. "We should punish her,” another responded, angrily.
The murmurs kept on going around, but I was more focused on the tree trunk that was being pulled above me. I was stupid to ever try the test of strength, and now I regret it. I just wanted to scrape off the title of being a weak wolf, but I am sure I have made things worse now.
“Pathetic.” The guard pulling the tree trunk said, staring at me with disgust. “There is no place for a weakling like you.” He added, spitting on me.
After the trunk was successfully lifted, I managed to get myself up. There wasn't a mirror close by, but I knew I looked like a mess. The faces of everyone present there were filled with nothing but disdain.
I lowered my head in defeat. I knew that this was just the beginning and more taunts would be waiting for me at home.
My master was against me taking this test, but I snuck out of the house without his permission. I thought that maybe if I emerged victoriously today, I would be set free from him and his family. I wouldn't be given much, but at the very least, I will have my own shelter, somewhere that will only belong to me.
My heartbeat quickened when I heard an awfully familiar voice.
“You wretch. "You think you could escape your fate,” Becca yelled.
I raised my head and saw her heading towards me. The next thing I felt was an excruciating pain coming from my lips and drops of blood followed afterward. She was Beta Cross, my master's first daughter.
She didn't wait for me to utter a word. She yanked me by the hair and dragged me through the training field. The air was filled with my pleads and the laughter of other wolves. I never understood how they derived joy from seeing someone suffer.
Becca and I finally got to her house and as soon as she opened the door, she pushed me to the ground with vigor. I fell, bruising my elbow badly.
“Look who decided to come back home.” Beta Cross came walking towards me. The look on his face showed he could literally kill me. The fear of that possibility made me freeze, my heart pounding loud enough to drown out everything else.
I didn't know what I was thinking, I am.. I am..” I stuttered.
“I bet you didn't.” Beta Cross yelled, kicking my stomach with vigor. That action made me spat out blood, followed by a loud shriek of pain.
He bent over and yanked me by the hair. I saw nothing but raw anger in his eyes. I wanted to plead, but I knew it would just make things worse. Beta Cross had a temper that could only be calmed when he inflicted pain on his prey. He enjoyed torturing and showing his dominance.
“Do you know what happens to servants that disobey me?” Beta Cross asked, grabbing me by the neck. Without effort, he lifted me up, ignoring my choking sounds.
“Ple…as…e…” My breath was starting to seize.
“Make her regret why she left the house, father. "Next time, we will plead to remain inside the house,” Becca said, her voice filled with nothing but hate.
“Oh, I will,” Beta Cross said, flinging me against the wall. That was all I remembered before losing consciousness.
*******
I slowly opened my eyes and groaned in pain. My hands and legs were chained. The entire room was dark, and I didn't need a soothsayer to tell me where I was. I was in the dark domain.
I have only heard of it from other servants, but I haven't been here myself. They said it was hell, it was torture, and you would never be the same if you survived it. Beta Cross only sent the servants who had offended him the most there– Now, I had become one of them.
I didn't know what to expect. That uncertainty freaked me out.
“Stop breathing too loud.” I heard a faint voice beside me. I wasn't alone.
“Who's there?” I asked, turning my head to my left, where the voice came from. I couldn't see anything because the darkness in the room was out of the ordinary.
“What does it matter? You and I will meet the same fate. "Why don't you allow me to enjoy my peace and quiet?” the voice said, weak and struggling to breathe.
Before I could say a word, I heard the door being unlocked from outside. My fate must have probably been decided already and my torture was
About to start.I exhaled loudly.
‘What could be next for me?’
