Prologue
Rose looked on as her mother’s wolf fought off two rouge wolves, her white fur and snow beneath them stained with blood. Her mother had told her to run before she shifted but her body froze in place. Rose could only watch as her mother fought of one rouge, then another, before they were joined by more.
They had come from nowhere, their car forced off the road. Her father had gotten them free from the car and told them to run as the rouges surrounded them. Her mother had lifted her in her arms and took off into the woods, the snow making it difficult to do in human form. She could no longer sense her father and now her mother was fading.
She watched in horror as four rouges stood over her mother as she lay still. One of them stepped up to her form and she could hear the crack as it bit into her mother’s neck, snapping it before they turned their eyes on her. Two more wolves came into the clearing, six rouges covered in blood approached her as she tried to move away from them, her feet slipping in the snow causing her to fall. She flipped herself in an attempt to get up but only slipped again.
Her face in the snow as a weight suddenly pressed into her back, pinning her to the ground. Air leaving her lungs as the rouge stood on her small frame, his breath hot on her neck as a low growl escaped him.
This was it. They were going to kill her, just like they had her parents. She braced herself for the pain when suddenly she heard a booming voice….
