When good girls go bad

1265 Words
"...Can I speak with you, it is very, very important," were the only words Amelia heard from Sarah's statement. "Yeah sure, that's what friends are for right?" there was a hint of uneasiness in the way Amelia carried herself around Sarah lately and everyone else in the house except Sarah had noticed. "It is kind of sensitive and I have a feeling you are way too young to completely understand but you are the closest friend I feel comfortable sharing it with...Wait, did you say it's okay?" she was so prepared to convince her that she was only then realizing that Amelia was willing to listen to her. Amelia moved closer to Sarah and held her hands. The old bench squeaked from the weight of the two girls. From a distance, Damian was busy splashing the water in the pool as he playfully swum around showing off his skills to his two, lovely audiences. The sun was brightly shinning on the water creating these blinding shimmers that made it hard for the girls to see his swift moves but he didn't notice. He just went on doing his thing probably thinking that the two were salivating on his impeccable skill. "I have a very strange feeling whenever I am around Damian these days. You know, it's like he is distant, disconnected and I feel like he hates me. I am not sure but something in me tells me that he is cheating," she explained in the only way she could and unbeknownst to her, her words were causing some really serious reaction on Amelia's side. " Hey, are you listening? I thought...you know what, forget I said all that...I shouldn't...I mean..." she had discovered the awkwardness on Amelia's reaction and her first thought was that Amelia found the subject uncomfortable. "No no, I am okay with all of that and I am actually moved by the fact that you consider me close enough to share such sensitive info with me," Amelia was trying hard to pull it together. In the real sense, she was literally shaking from the scare. Her hands were almost dripping with sweat and she had to pull them away from Sarah's. Her heart had missed quite a few beats ever since Sarah had started narrating and at the moment, it was pounding really first and hard that she feared Sarah would notice. "What if she already knew that it was me he was cheating with and was only looking for the tell tale signs? I have never seen her this serious and..." she was thinking hard and fast and all that while, Sarah was waiting for her to digest what she had just told her hoping she would come into terms with it soon. "I really don't know what to say to that. I don't know much about relationships and I may not be in a position to advice you. However, for the few months I have been around you and Damian, all I have seen is the intimate way he looks at you, the way he can never seem to get his eyes or his lips for that matter away from you for just a few minutes. He loves you and he makes sure to show it which is why I am positive that he is not cheating on you. Have you tried talking to him? Maybe he is stressed or something," Amelia finally found words to Sarah's relief. "No, I haven't talked to him. I figured if my worries were real and I confronted him with no proof, he would just deny. I guess you are right, I should probably talk to him and find out what's bothering him. I knew you would help, thank you," Sarah seemed much better while Amelia was just glad she found the right words. The two then sat there quietly for a while taking in the awkward silence that followed. Damian was still enjoying his swimmy time and for the first rime, the girls noted he was trying to be impressive yet nether one of them seemed impressed. Few minutes passed by and the discomfort was beginning to grow on Amelia but she couldn't seem to come up with the right topic for small talk and she couldn't gather the courage to walk away. Lucky for her, Sarah's phone vibrated. A message notification from a "Goof girl" popped on the screen. Sarah basically grabbed it even before Amelia could read the first word. Sarah quickly read it and Amelia clearly saw the new light on her face. "Hey, I have to go. It's work and it seems serious. Once again, thank you for the advice and sorry I put you in that awkward situation," she quickly excused herself and left. "Strange," she found herself saying out loud. "Strange indeed," Damian said scaring Amelia who had not noticed his head peeping at the edge of the swimming pool just a step away from the bench. "Hey you scared me!" she yelled throwing her leg towards Damian and accidentally hit him on the forehead throwing him back into the pool. She watched as Damian slowly sank to the bottom and there was no words strong enough to express the horror on her face as she jumped after him fully clothed. "I got you! I got you real good though ouch, that hurt like a lot," Damian playfully shouted once he was satisfied with his wicked prank. Amelia's fear quickly melted into anger and she slapped Damian hard across the face and you should have seen the confused look on his face. She was about to slap him again when he grabbed her hand, pulled her closer and kissed her. Amelia would have loved to stay mad at him for almost giving her a heart attack but the kiss had magically wiped out all the anger she had felt. She felt turned on by the way he held onto her ass and for a moment, her mind went blank but then she remembered. "Wait, we can't be together out in the open like this. Sarah, she knows something is up with you," she quickly said and pulled herself away from Damian. "What do you mean?" he didn't realize the seriousness of the situation until she pulled herself out of the pool and sat on the edge with her legs dipped in the water but at a safe distance from him. "She was just telling me how she had a feeling like you were cheating on her...don't worry, I managed to convince her that she was just overthinking but she might want to talk to you. I would probably prepare for that if I were you," she was so serious that Damian swallowed hard. "What about us? Do you think we should..." he was gonna go there and Amelia knew it. "Are you insane? I mean I know its bad and that makes me a bad person but I am not letting go of you. We just have to be careful," she almost yelled and Damian felt a bit full of himself. "Besides, I have a feeling she is not the good girl she pretend to be either," Amelia thought to herself but made sure not to say it out loud. She had a feeling that Sarah was hiding something big and she had just made a decision to find out what it was. "I hope to God she is cheating on him because then I wouldn't have to feel so guilty about this," she once again thought to herself as she walked away from the pool.
