Amelia rolled in her bed for the hundredth time.It had bee hours since she got under the covers but she couldn't seem to fall asleep. Her mind was preoccupied by the memories of the evening she had shared with Damian. She badly wanted to get past that and heaven knows she had tried but nothing seemed to be working especially now that she knew Damian felt the same way about her. Damian himself had confessed his love for her earlier that evening when he was trying to convince her not to go back home to her mother. She had tried to tell him that she didn't feel the same way but instead, she found herself kissing him. Since then, all the strength she had to walk away had subsided. She tried to pack her stuff but her arms were too weak and her body too lazy to get on with it. She ended up dropping herself on the bed at 7:30 in the evening. Her dad tried to get her downstairs to have dinner but she refused. "Every time I hold or kiss her, at the dining table or anywhere, it is because I am imagining I am doing it to you," Damian had said earlier and Amelia couldn't get past the thoughts. "Who said I wanted him to imagine doing stuff to me but then actually doing them to her instead?" she thought angrily and since then, she had been thinking about him and replaying her memories of him in her mind.
"Amelia, it's me Sarah. Open the door I need to talk to you," Sarah knocked. Amelia was just about drifting to sleep. "You need to talk like right now? In the middle of the night?" she asked obviously agitated. "Have you checked your clock yet, it is morning already," she said and tried to push the door open but Amelia had locked it. Amelia fetched her phone from under the pillow and to her surprise, it was already six thirty in the morning. "I didn't sleep all night?" she whispered as she dragged herself out of the bed and made her way to the door. "Oh, you haven't even packed yet? Oh my goodness look at the size of those eye bags have you slept like at all tonight?" Sarah asked and normally, Amelia would have felt good about the concern but not today. All she wanted was to be alone. "The truth is, I really don't want to go home but dad seems to be so built on sending me back there. I feel like he doesn't want me here. Don't get me wrong, I miss mom and home but I am sure when I get back there mom won't allow me to come here ever again," she sadly said.
"You mean you have been acting all weird because you thought your dad is trying to get rid of you? See, I knew it was just but a simple miscommunication problem. Honey, your dad is only pushing you to go home because he thinks you want to be with your mom. He had been trying to find a way to get you to stay but you have been acting so weird lately he thought you were homesick. Come, lets go tell him," she was overly excited because whenever she was around Amelia, she felt like a little girl and she could be herself. Another reason why Amelia couldn't come to terms with her stupid jealousy. Sarah grabbed her hand and dragged her out of the room and into the living room where Daniel and Damian had just settled for breakfast. The excitement on Sarah's face had the gentlemen glued to her ready to hear what she had to say.
"I have some good news for you Papi, Amelia doesn't want to go home," she said making these little jog like jumps in excitement. "She gets to stay and you keep being happy, I get to have a friend and Damian just have to deal with it," she added. Damian's face dropped to the ground and everyone else thought it was from disappointment but Amelia knew it was from the guilt and also the happiness. They both knew that Damian was the one who had talked Amelia out of going home but he also felt bad for Sarah. Poor Sarah thought Amelia was her friend. "Really, you are staying? That is so wonderful dear I could hug you right now...if...if you are okay with it," Daniel realized he may have overstepped but he was way too excited. "I don't see why not," she offered and even opened her arms wide. Daniel quickly got up from his chair and hugged his daughter so hard that she couldn't breath for a moment. "Welcome home sweetie, you have no idea how happy you have made me," he said while pulling a chair for her to sit which she did. "I guess its a good thing I made breakfast myself today because then, it wouldn't be your favorite," Daniel happily made his way to the kitchen leaving the three to get set at the table. "Honey, you need to cheer up. She is your sister and it shouldn't be hard to accept her," Sarah lifted Damian's face and Amelia saw the smile before Damian could wipe it out. Breakfast was served and for ones, everyone seemed to enjoy the food. Amelia wasn't feeling much guilt anymore, Daniel was truly happy, Sarah seemed to be holding up nicely and Damian, well he was trying to hide his joy by pretending not to be excited. Time seemed to fly by and soon, it was time to call Amelia's mom and tell her that she was not going back and as expected, she was not happy after hearing the news.
"Well, she is eighteen now and she gets to chose who she wants to live with and she chose me. Don't worry about college, I will take her myself and I will take care of her financial needs like I have, ever since she was born," was the statement Daniel used to win the argument and it worked. "But I still have to go for my highschool graduation though. You will have to take me, right?" Amelia pointed out and of course her dad agreed to it. Soon, Daniel left for work and Sarah seemed to be in a hurry to get somewhere and from the way she behaved, Amelia could tell that something fishy was up. Damian was still on the holiday leave as Daniel thought it would help build his relationship with Amelia. "I am stepping out for a bit...now you be good to each other and no fighting," Sarah said and walked out. Soon, it was just the two of them, and the big beautiful mansion. "So, you didn't think I was going to let you go that easily," Amelia finally asked and moved closer to Damian. "I was hoping not," he hugged her, then kissed her and the two made love right there on the leather sofa. For the rest of the day, the two ate popcorn and watched movies taking a few minutes break every once in a while to have s*x. By the time Daniel got back, the two were way too exhausted to show any excitement and he figured they had spent the day arguing and that made him sad. "I really hope that one day the two of you will let go of your differences and at least try to get along," he made sure to comment during dinner and they made sure to act like they couldn't care less.
