PROLOGUE
I stare at my reflection on the mirror, I'm not the person who I used to be. Dark blue eyes that were once full of light is enshroud in darkness. A heart that once upon a time used to beat with happiness is now tainted with pain. A soul that was once free of shadows is now imprisoned in darkness.
There is only one saving grace, one last hope for my tainted soul, my mate.
Life has given me everything I wanted except for what I needed.
As a billionaire businessman I have access to all the luxuries one could ask for, yet, no money could fetch me what I really wanted.
Guess you can't have everything.
A knock sounds on my room door, jostling me back to the present. Resigning myself to another lonesome night, I step away from the mirror and pad to the bathroom door.
Clutching the doorknob I twist it open and instantly the smell of lavender besieges my senses.
I breathe in deep, inhaling more of the sweat fragrance; my eyes zero in on the closed cupboard at the corner of the room, as my ears pick up the rapid heartbeats of another person.
The thudding sound brings a sense of serenity to my soul, it seizes years of darkness and mercilessly obliterates it. And for the first time in years, my heart starts beating, not for the sake of existing, but for the sake of living.
For I've found my mate.
