1. A DREAM
Full moon...... A weird pink one in the deep blue sky that was cut in half. One, sapphire-like, was bright and brilliant, while the other, covered by clouds, growling and gloomy. I ran through the dark forest, losing my breath. You'll make it. You are nearly there. I told myself. Hold on! The far end of the forest was the wild open cornfield, showering in the pink moonlight, and the cliff was quite near. But that certain great power was not to let me go that easily, chasing closer and closer with a sense of large pressure behind me. Gnarled trees around, watching silently and holding breath, were standing still like stones in the wuthering winds. Stay.......stay.......dark winds were roaring, as close as they were to my ear. I won't! I cried out loud. It resonated with the heartbeats, filling the empty, deep dark forest. My heart was stiffened and drained, seemed to lose blood drop by drop. Where......where are you? I kept on running, crying desperately in my heart. He must be quite near around. I had that feeling......like he was somewhere around me. But where...... I can't tell. And who was he? Why...... How can I feel for him so dearly at times, while losing any of my knowledge of his identity? Missing my direction, as well as the trace of him, was not that severe. Crucial was that I missed something precious......like some key to a certain chest, and the chest collected and held all the secrets, all the memories........like something that was long-lost.......something I was dying to restore. I gathered my last strength, strode forward, dashing out of the shadow of the dark forest, and found myself in a quiet open field, protected by the faint pink full moon. The dark winds retreated and got burnt, then vanished quickly before they reached the verge of the forest. They knew they had no permission to any moon-lit territories. They had to hide, or they would be burned by those raying lights. "Come with us......" someone whispered in that peaceful pink aura somewhere in the field, like singing...... "You'll find what you seek." they spoke softly. "Who are you?" I wandered in that pink aura shade and asked with hesitation. "You know who we are. You always know, and we've been accompanying you along, from the day when you were born. You were used to talking with us before you fell into sleep when you were a little girl. You begged us to help and to save you every time when you felt upset and in danger. You know us. You always know. So don't be afraid. Come along, and you'll see." "I'm always seeking.......but I don't know what I'm seeking for." "A stock of memory from ancient times. You'll find, if you lose. And you'll lose, once you find." "I......I don't understand." "A man in the mirror is the man without error." "Who......who is that man?" "You'll know, you'll see." Suddenly, a surge of fire-like force struck me over. I fell down and lost my consciousness. "Seeing with your eyes....." was the last sentence I heard. It was a large mirror that caught my attention, when woke up, finding myself lying on the cold stone ground of a castle-like hall. It was as cold as ice. Sadly, I can't move. What I could see from my angle was only that large mirror, which occupied the whole wall of the hall, from its dome to the ground without any decoration on it. A large bare mirror. ".......hold on...." a man's voice. "I won't let it go.......trust me." a teenage girl said. "No.......let go please.......as the prophet said, there will be only one life that can be saved here. And we have nothing to do with this maze......" the man sighed with heavy breath as he was badly injured. "A life for a pass, is......the only way to go." I listened carefully, not sure where the voices were coming from, seemed somewhere right around the mirror. But there was no spare room around there. ".......no..... I can't." Cried the girl. "I don't care about the maze. I just can't let you go. I can't watch you die here......." she was weeping. "You don't understand......you have to go. Quickly. Get the wand. Take back the lost lands. That is your destiny.......you should......." sounded like the man was paused because of a sudden pain. "No....... I won't go anywhere as long as you are here." ".......avoid the world's doom, take up your duty.......keep that in mind." the man demanded, while his voice was weakening and fainting gradually. "Just let it be. If we're destined to be stuck here.......I'll stay by your side no matter what happens." "Regulation one, always listen to your mentor and do what he tells you. You failed the test." "Regulation two, always stay close to your mentor when there's a danger. I'm A plus......." the girl sobbed sadly. "Cardinth.......keep in mind who you are....." I was stunned, hearing the man call my name. "........nothing could compare with you.......even the world, the destiny, whatever......."the girl....her voice......quite familiar. was that me? I was shocked, listening carefully without missing any word they said. "Cardinth.......Cardinth......."the man murmured. And, the mirror became frosty and transparent. I stared at the mirror, identifying things showing in it. A girl, clad in armor, was sitting on the ground of a dark b****y dungeon, with a handsome man held in her arms. My heart became icy when peeking through the mirror of frost and got the first view of her face. It was me! Suddenly, heartache struck me ......when I carefully examined the man, beholding of his hair, his eyes.......so familiar......as if I had known him so well, for quite a long time, for many lives, for a thousand years...... I can't stand for the view of his injury. Tears filled my eyes. I didn't EVEN know who he was. "Rudolf.......don't leave me.......you can't abandon me like this!" I watched that "me" in the mirro sobbing painfully. The voice and the image fainted gradually. The mirror was covered by mist and restored again as how it looked previously. A surge of sadness swept over. I couldn't help crying. Instinctively. "Did you meet the man in the mirror?" Soft voice, so close. "Yes......who's he?" "He is the one you always seek for, and the reason that keeps you disappointed in your world." "He is the one......?" I murmured. "Yes.....he is the one." Voices were quite certain. the one...... "When the wheel of fortune is turning around......the mirrored one will become the reality and the real world will be retreated into the shadow one, the fake one....." "The wheel of fortune.......?" "Yes, when it stables and stops, it's time for the two worlds to combine." "What does it mean?" "It means the destiny of you two to bring the split worlds into one." ''Us two?" "Yes. The rewriter, needs to get through this chaos, to conquer the fatal weakness, and come to that ultimate place where make unveiled all your secrets. " The rewriter? "To rewrite the destined doom......for both worlds and for all." "But how?" "The answer lies in your everyday life, in every moment of your breath, in every flicker and sparkle of thoughts......" "And he?" "He is by your side. When you come across, and he'll come to you." "Come to me?" "Yes. Remember, you'll find, if you lose. And you'll lose, if you find." "Meaning?" "Meaning the wheel of fortune will turn around. The two worlds will be trading their places. You'll get what you seek. " "Where am I now?" I was still lying on the icy cold ground without any possibility of moving. "You are now stuck between the two worlds and dwelling in the gap between the past and future, which means your awareness is put in the seat of the past, and viewing the image of the future. You have no control of moving, because the actions of the past here happened and completed. You can't revamp any of them, and you view the future image, which has not happened yet. That's why you can only view it through the mirror of your awareness, which constantly reflects the results of the past and future way of going, in each minutes of your mindset. " "So I actually have a chance to change it?" The idea of saving that man made me hopeful. "Yes. You, can do that, the rewriter of both worlds." "How?" I urged. "The key lies in your mindset. If you find a way of changing it, you will rewrite all things coming." "And he could be saved?" "We'll bring you back to his world, later, where you can find a way." Familiar heat......a surge of fire-like force again swept over. I woke up, finding I was lying in the wild field again under the full light pink moon, getting back control of myself. Rising up, I heard the waves of the ocean. The cliff was nearby. I was sure I knew this place quite well. I had the image of the cliff in my brain. The protective pink aura seemed familiar to me, too. And a sense of acknowledging that he was somehow here around...... "He's here?" I asked. "Here's his world." the voices corrected me. "How can I find him?" "You can't. He'll come to you. Remember, if you find, you'll lose. You lose, and then you'll find. It is the way, as myriad worlds go. " "Show me the way to the cliff!" I felt urgent to see if the cliff was exactly the same as in my mind. Walking through the wild fields with the protective pink shade wrapped around me, nearer and nearer, I came close to the cliff. It was there, under the full moon, stark and barely standing, like it had been during the past thousand years. I went closer and sat on the top of it, viewing the storming weaves below. Suddenly an image of a man and a woman, came to me......like it used to happen here, right on the top of this cliff, in a certain time and space past. The man was holding the hand of the woman, while the latter had just stepped off the cliff, hanging under the rocks now. "Hold on. Don't let go......" the man cried. "A life sacrificed for a pass. The rule. Only by this, can you see the world endured through the plague. As the prophet said. Let me go. For peace come." "I won't let you go. Or...... I'll go with you." "No, you can't. People need you. You must stay." The woman spoke softly. "I can't......" "We'll get together.....trust me. We'll meet in the next spiral. I'm forever your destiny." The woman smiled mildly. "How..... how can I bear that.......watching you die here?" "You'll find me. Trust me, and let me go. Let the world enlighten again." ".......no!" the man cried painfully, as the woman made her choice and let go. ........ "Catch a memory? Remember what used to happen here?" The voices spoke softly in my ear. "Is that true? The image? It did happen here?" "Yes. It happened as how things go in many lives of yours." "One life for one pass....just the same as in the dungeon." "It's the destiny of you two. One life sacrificed for the other to pass. Or, one life is spared when the other is shown up. Sometimes, salvation comes for both, depending on what the world's asking for." "Where's he now?" I have an urge to meet him. "Not now, not here. You'll find, if you lose. And you'll lose, if you find. Go through what is assigned to you first and make the cycle completed. You'll meet him right after that." "Assigned to me....." "You'll know, you'll see...." the voices fainted out as the sky suddenly got dark. In that darkness, the last thing I heard was only: " Be patient. He's by your side, as always........"
