they entered the battered looking diner. There was soft music playing in the background. Michael caught the song instantly. somebody's me. He smiled at the song. since they entered, he looked and found no customer or anyone behind the register. He looked at Orion with a smile and held out his hand. Orion seemed oblivious and kept staring at his hand until he connected the situation. Michael saw the faintest blush creep up on his cheeks. Orion hesitated and then he looked behind him. there was no one there. He placed his hand in Michael's. For a second they stood there, looking into each other's eyes. Then Michael slowly brought Orion closer. Michael led them and slowly started swaying to the words in the song. Orion's hands were on Michael's chest, Michael leaned in and rested his forehead against Orion's. Michael held Orion's hand and spun him out. They giggled as Orion spun back in to Michael's embrace.
"Why did you stop at all, Love birds?"
Orion pushed Michael away causing but he didn't know that Michael was still holding on to Orion causing both of them to fall and again fall in a suspicious position with Orion on top of Michael, but his face was directly aligned with Michael's lower abdomen. Michael looked down at Orion's head looking up at him. They heard a wolf whistle and whipped their heads to the direction of the sound. Another old woman had joined the one that was watching them like a hawk. Then they started giggling to each other and whispering stuff. Orion and Michael got off the floor and when they finally broke apart from that conniving position on the floor, they saw the old ladies behind the register looking at them with a different expression on their faces. Michael felt a little embarassed as he walked to the register.
"Hello." Michael stuttered. He felt Orion catch up to him and then he received a smack on his back. "Speak properly." Orion hissed at Michael. Michael nodded and looked at the ladies who still had that stupid grin on their faces. "Can we have your specials?" Michael asked with a strong voice. One of them nodded and the other one fished a menu from under the counter, slapping it in front of them. Michael smiled and said a polite thank you as they selected a corner booth in the diner. Away from the hustle.
Michael sat first and then Orion slid across from him. They both felt a little nervous after what had happened. Love birds? could they ever be in love with each other? Michael cleared his throat and looked up at Orion. He was avoiding his eyes. Orion was busy reading the menu, Michael noticed a soft dust of pink on Orion's cheeks. It made Michael want to reach and brush his skin. Michael reached over and with the pad of his thumb softly brushed Orion's skin and smiled sweetly at him. "You look good when you blush."
They heard a cough and turned to the sudden sound. The lady behind the register was now looking at them, she was there for the order as Michael gathered as she was holding a small paper pad and pen, smiling at them. "You do look cute." She said and smiled at them. Michael looked at Orion who turned redder with every passing minute. "Um.. we'll have your cheese burgers, and two chocolate milkshakes for now." Michael recited politely as she wrote the order down. "I'll be back." as she left the other lady came carrying two glasses of cold water and placed it in front of them.
