Ralph and Aerie’s rifles began barking rapidly. Mac fired both barrels of his ten gauge. Clark stepped through the door and finished off the last gang member who was running toward the door. Suddenly they heard shooting at the back of the house, two pistol shots and one shotgun blast. Mac and Clark ran to the back to find that Joseph had been wounded twice. But he had stood his ground and nearly cut a renegade in half with a shotgun blast.
Joseph’s wounds appeared to be serious, but Clark and Mac knew they needed to clear the area before they took care of them. Clark called up to Ralph, “Mac and I are going outside to see if there are more of them. Joseph is wounded. Aerie, please come down and try to stop the bleeding.”
It took about ten minutes to clear the outside of the house
