I am grateful for the time that I had away from the academy, and the information I have received from my neighbour and others. It is like I didn’t known my father after all, with all of these secrets that he kept from me.
Michael and Demascus both promised to keep in touch and I promised Mrs Ridgedo yesterday at the wake that I will read the note when I get back to the Academy and am alone in my room, and she told me to be careful who I trusted.
Marcus told me that by tonight all my stuff will be in Sparkonia and if anyone looks in the storage shed it will look like it’s still there.
Mawabii told us at dinner last night that because Twisha had made me revive a flower and it made me really weak, that Elder Zarconian is giving me a few days to rest before I go back to classes and training.
I finish packing my stuff up and walk down the stairs when I hear Mawabii and Twisha arguing, they have been doing it since last night, and when I hear my name I know it is about me again.
I turn to walk back up the stairs when I see Marcus. I had a decision to make, either keep walking down the stairs and hear the arguing or push past Marcus and go see if Tara is ready to go.
I chose the latter. “Excuse me Marcus.” I whisper and walked back up the stairs with my bags.
I don’t want my bags out of my sight, and only Marcus, Michael, Demascus and Tara know the reason why.
Marcus nods and moves out of my way, I know that he understood why I want to go back upstairs by the look in his eyes. When I reach the top he makes his way down the rest of the stairs. If last night was anything to go by Marcus is going to have a go at them because once again I heard them arguing and I know that they are arguing about me.
I find Tara in the room Michael and Demascus have been using. They all stop talking when I open the door, Tara races over to me and pulls me in and then pokes her head out the door before she closes it. I am really confused by what she did and is about to ask why she did it.
“We are trying to figure out why Twisha got you to do what you did yesterday.” Tara whispers, pushing me over to the guys who are standing beside the window.
“What do you mean?” I ask really confused placing my bags on the floor.
“It just seems a bit weird that she got you to revive a plant when technically none of us know what you can do.” Michael says sounding worried.
We hear a knock on the door before anyone can say anything. Tara and Demascus make it look like they are writing something and Michael starts stacking my bags against the wall.
“Come in.” Michael says sounding bored and gives me a wink so I know that he is only acting.
Marcus walks in and raises a questioning eyebrow. “What’s going on here?” He asks closing the door and walking over to Tara and Demascus.
“We were just trying to figure out why Twisha did what she did.” Tara says putting the pen and paper down.
“I see you still haven’t finished writing your report.” Marcus says and then turns to Michael and asks. “Have you?”
“Yeah I finished it last night.” Michael says and leans against the wall. “So do you know why she did it?” Michael asks.
“Yes I do.” Marcus says looking down at the floor shaking his head.
We all stand staring at him for who knows how long waiting for him to say something else, but he doesn’t, he just keeps looking at the floor.
“Well?” Demascus asks urging him to say something.
“She wanted to see what Selaria could do.” He says walking over to me and placing his hand on my shoulder. “We may have a problem Princess which might mean that you may have to go to Sparkonia sooner rather than later.”
“I’m not leaving without Godric’s mother and Ezera.” I say with as much force as I can without yelling.
“I know, but if it means your safety, we may have to return for them.” Marcus says sounding worried.
“I’ll be safe, I don’t think Elder Zarconian will do anything to me.” I say sounding more confident than I am feeling.
“Oh I’m sure he won’t, but he will do whatever it takes to keep you close.” Marcus says. “I’m afraid he will keep a closer eye on you and you won’t be able to teleport back and forth to Sparkonia.” Marcus whispers getting closer to me.
“I can handle it.” I say, wondering if I can or if Marcus is right and I won’t be able to teleport back and forth to Sparkonia, not that it matters, with the link I have with Godric and Irinduma.
“I’ll have to tell the Queen and see what she says.” Marcus says a little louder than before.
“Wow Queens, Princesses, what’s next?” Demascus asks jokingly.
“Guardians of Sparkonia.” I say realising neither Irinduma nor Godric hasn’t spoken to me all morning.
“I’m still here.” Both Irinduma and Godric say at the same time through the link.
“Guardians?” Tara asks sounding confused, standing up and walking over to us.
“Yes.” Marcus huffs, sounding annoyed.
He isn’t the only one getting annoyed, I am as well. I get the fact that he reports to the Queen, but I’m not leaving until I have Godric’s mother and Ezera.
“I don’t understand, what does the Queen have to do with what Selaria does?” Michael asks, sitting down on the rolled up mattress that he used while we were packing.
“The Queen is Selaria’s mother.” Marcus says walking over to the window and looks at whatever is outside.
“How could you have not guessed that Michael?” Tara asks sarcastically.
“I knew that she was her mother, I just don’t get why she needs to know what is going on?” Michael asks glaring at Tara in a friendly way.
“It doesn’t matter who she is, she doesn’t rule me and has no say about what I do with my life.” I say frustrated by what they are saying and how they are saying it, like it is either normal to talk about or that it is a joke.
“What is going on here?” Mawabii asks standing at the door with a curious look on his face.
Judging by the looks on the others faces they didn’t realise that he was standing there until he said something. But it begs the question, how long has he been standing there listening to our conversation.
“Take me back to the Academy.” I say angrily snatching up my bags and storming past him and out the door.
“Somebody care to explain?” Mawabii asks raising an eyebrow and tilting his head my way slightly.
“Now Mawabii!!!” I yell not wanting anyone to get into trouble or caught because they don’t know what to say, or they end up saying the wrong thing.
“Of course.” Mawabii says following me.
When we get to the stairs I spin around quickly surprising both of us because I didn’t realise how close he was.
“When we get back I need to speak to Elder Zarconian about Twisha straight away.” I demand and then continue down the stairs.
“Of course, I’ll let him know now.” He says cautiously following me down the stairs.
“I don’t care when you tell him, just make sure he knows.” I tell him when we get to the bottom of the stairs.
I sit by the fire place looking at the now empty lounge room, waiting for everyone hoping I look angry. Mawabii grabs Twisha and drags her into the kitchen and neither return until everyone is ready to go.
It didn’t take long for the others to get to the living room, and once we are all there Mawabii creates a portal like the one Elder Zarconian made.
“The portal is ready, Alec, Twisha and I will go first and then the rest of you will follow when it is all clear.” Mawabii says using his authority voice. I have gotten used to it over the short time that we have been here packing my things.
Everyone nods their agreement and I watch as they go through the portal. No-one spoke while we waited for the all clear to go through. I hope that I will be able to speak to Elder Zarconian alone and quickly, but I also hope that I still look like I am upset and angry.
We get the all clear and like before I am in the middle and we walk through the portal. What I don’t expect is to see a few extra men standing in the room with Elder Zarconian, and judging by the way Marcus, Michael, Demascus and Tara stand a little closer they aren’t expecting them either.
They are all wearing the same clothing, their hair is cut the same as well, military style and they are the same height, for a second I think they are quadruplets, but what is even weirder is they are all males, I’m not sure why they are here and I can feel that both Godric and Irinduma are both a little worried about this, and with the way Marcus and the others are reacting neither do they.
Elder Zarconian walks towards me and smiles. “I had all your belongings moved into a bigger room and these gentlemen will escort you to your room.”
“I’m sorry what?” I ask shocked by this new development.
I can feel both Irinduma and Godric a little worried and confused by what just happened, but neither of them say anything.
“I thought it might be best that you had a bigger room, in case you wanted to bring some of your things from you house to the Academy, to help you make living at the Academy more like home, since you will be staying here even through the holidays.” Elder Zarconian says and places a hand on my shoulder when he gets to me.
“Thank you, I really appreciate that.” I say, as sincere as I can. “I need to have a word with you in private if I can.” I continue, with as much controlled frustration as I can manage.
“Yes I heard about what happened the other day and I hope you are feeling better and don’t you worry Twisha will be punished for her actions.” Elder Zarconian says glaring at Twisha, who bows her head when ElderZarconian glares at her.
“It’s not just that.” I say doing my best upset look and voice.
I’m not sure why Twisha did what she did and I am a little worried that maybe Elder Zarconian put her up to it.
“How about you go with these four protectors and check out your new room and then I’ll have them bring you back and we can talk then.” He says sounding concerned and looking at me with a puzzled expression.
I nod my agreement and reluctantly walk towards the door to head out of the office. One of the protectors opens the door and two of them walk out before me and the other two wait for me to walk through and then follow, and don’t break formation when they close the door.
The moment the door closes we all hear Elder Zarconian yell. “What were you thinking, getting her to do that, you could have killed her.”
I look at the Protectors and notice that they cringe. I think they cringe more from the power that we feel from Elder Zarconian then from the yelling. I just hope Marcus is ok and he isn’t going to get into trouble, since it isn’t even his fault it is Twisha’s.
I don’t feel the power as much as the Protectors, which surprises me, but I don’t have time to think about it, because I remember Elder Zarconian saying that someone has moved all of my stuff to another room. Why I need a new room is a little concerning, since I seem to already have a larger room than Varsity.
None of them talk as we walked from Elder Zarconian’s office and head to the dormitories, but I don’t mind, it means that I have more time to think about the past events and try to figure out a way to get Godric’s mother and Ezera out of the Academy.
We get to a beautiful painting of fairies dancing in a beautiful ballroom. It looks magical and I realise that we aren’t at the girls dormitory and wonder why we are here and not at the dormitory, I’m about to ask when one of them walks through the painting as if it isn’t there.
“Where are we going?” I ask a little worried, looking at the other Protectors.
“Your room.” The Protector on my right says in an English accent sounding as if I should have already known that.
Before I can say anymore the Protector reappeared and motions for us to follow, I am a little worried and so is Godric and Irinduma, but none of them do anything, which is a good thing, because just behind the painting are some stairs, that seem to be a spiral staircase.
I can feel that Godric is both worried and curious as to where they are taking me. Irinduma isn’t too concerned, I am glad that I decided to place her on my necklace as if she is a pendent when I woke up this morning. But I can also feel that she is prepared to get me out of here in case something does happen and I’m not ready for it.
I’m not sure how long it is going to take to get to where we are going, unlike the dormitory this place doesn’t have any floors yet and has me a little worried. After what feels like forever, but is only about ten minutes, we arrive at a floor, which seems to be the only one unlike the dormitory. After a quick look I notice a big heavy looking door at the end of a corridor and there are two slightly smaller doors on each side of the corridor.
“Who else am I sharing with?” I ask looking at the other doors and wondering which one I am going to be in.
“Us, we will have the four smaller rooms and you will have the one at the end.” The Protector on the left says in a Southern American accent.
I guess they aren’t related, which seems a little weird since they all look alike.
“Wait, I’m going to be sleeping here with just you guys?” I ask a little worried about the turn of events.
I knew that I was getting a bigger room, but I didn’t realise I was getting a dormitory to myself and around the clock security as well.
“Yes, it’s just a precaution, Elder Zarconian wants to make sure that you are protected, and also if you need anything we are to provide it.” The Protector with the American accent says.
I am a little confused by this and wonder why Elder Zarconian is extremely interested in my well being and if by some chance that Marcus is right and that I won’t be able to find a way to get out of here.
I walk up to the door wondering what I am going to see. When I open the door I don’t expect to see, a small house. There is a three seater black lounge with an emerald green, fluffy throw blanket expertly placed with matching cushions on both ends of the lounge and a black cushion in the centre against the throw blanket. There are two single seater black chairs that match the lounge with the emerald green fluffy throw blanket and a black cushion on each of them and they are placed next to the lounge which is facing a large flat screen TV, which is fitted above a medium size lit fireplace.
I turn and see that the Protectors are standing at the door, as if waiting for me to tell them what to do, but what am I meant to say to them? I look back at the room and dump my bags, still in awe of the room.
One of the Protectors, the one with the English accent walks in and grabs my bags, I am about to object when he starts walking toward one of the doors. I follow him and he opens the door to what I guess is my bedroom. It has a massive dark stained four poster bed, bigger than a king size, with a dark green cover on it and six green pillows that are three different shades on the bed.
I’m not sure what to think, I am stunned. I was told that I was getting a bigger room since I won’t be going to be going home for the school holidays and staying here permanently, I am starting to wish I was.
The Protector walks over and presses a button and the wall opens up to reveal a walk in robe with all of my clothes and shoes. I am pretty sure that my mouth is gaping right now, but no-one says anything about it.
“You can put your things away later, I would like to show you to your dining room.” The Protector says sounding as if this isn’t what he wants to do, but has to.
I didn’t think I could be more surprised, I don’t even know why I will need a dining room, since there is the cafeteria. I follow him out of my room and down the hall to the last door on the right. I notice that there isn’t a desk for me to do my homework and I haven’t seen a bookshelf either.
He opens the door and I notice that there is a table big enough to seat at least ten people and it is decorated in an old style, with candelabras and an emerald green table runner that looks amazing against the dark stained table, I notice that the padding on the chairs is also emerald green. The chairs are amazing and look like they came out of a castle and I start to wonder if they actually had.
“Wow, I don’t know what to say.” I say looking around the room, shocked that I was given this and a little worried by what this might mean.
“Elder Zarconian just wants you to feel comfortable.” The Protector with the English accent says. I know that I am going to have to ask them their names at some point today.
“Well I think I’m going to be very comfortable here.” I say smiling at him.
“There are a few more rooms for you to see.” The Protector with the Southern American accent says and turns and walks to the door nearest him.
I am curious to see what is behind the door that is opposite my room. I walk over to him and he opens the door and then steps aside. Inside is the most beautiful and largest bathroom I have ever seen, It is a beautiful white marble with a large emerald green claw foot bath, an emerald marble sink and shower, when I walk into the bathroom I notice that the shower doesn’t have a shower nozzle, there are holes in the roof of the shower and after I notice the silver taps and the buttons beside the tapes that have pictures on them for the oils, and after taking closer examination I notice that the bath has some with bubbles and oils on it.
“Wow, I feel like I’m being spoilt.” I say with a smile on my face as I look back at the Protectors.
Which is when I realise that I’m not being spoilt, I am given this stuff so that Elder Zarconian can keep a closer eye on me and it will now be easier since he has four protectors really close to me.
“Elder Zarconian just wants to make sure that you are comfortable and safe.” The Protector with the English accent says walking into the bathroom.
He seems to look pleased with himself. I doubt that Elder Zarconian is doing it because he wants me to be safe and comfortable, there has to be something else, because I know that Elder Zarconian isn’t like that, he only does things for people when he wants something from them.
As if knowing that we are talking about him, Elder Zarconian walks into the room. “How are you finding everything?” He asks when he reaches us.
“It’s amazing.” I say trying to sound excited about all of this. “I just don’t understand why I am here instead of my old room.” I say giving a hint of confusion to my excitement.
“I told her that you just wanted to make sure that she is safe and comfortable.” The Protector with the English accent says looking at Elder Zarconian.
“That is true, but I also wanted you to have a place you could call home.” Elder Zarconian says smiling at me.
I don’t like the smile, but I do my best to smile back and hope he thinks it is genuine. I notice that none of the others came with Elder Zarconian, which makes me wonder what happened to Marcus. I look around the room and know I’m not going to be here long, which I am glad about and what brings me back to what I have to speak to Elder Zarconian about.
“Thank you so much, you don’t know how much this means to me.” I say trying to keep the sarcasm out of my voice and smile up at him. “I don’t know if this is a good time, but are we able to talk now?” I ask, hoping that I can get my questions answered and come up with a plan to get Godric’s mother and Ezera out of here with the rest of the Rebellion.
“Of course, but can you give me a couple more minutes to talk to your Protectors and then we can talk for as long as you want.” He says with a smile I wish I could smack off his face.
“Thank you.” I say and start moving out of the room.
I watch the Protectors all walk out and back to the corridor that has their rooms. I run as quickly and quietly as I can and start doing a quick search for anything that might tip Elder Zarconian or anyone else what I’ll be doing here, and I’m glad that Irinduma helps me.
Elder Zarconian is still out with the Protectors when Irinduma and I finish going through the whole place and find nothing, but Irinduma is double checking and I plan to teleport to a couple of different locations just to see what happens when Elder Zarconian isn’t anywhere near my new room.
I walk over to the door that leads out to the corridor and can hear Elder Zarconian faintly talking to the Protectors.
“I’m still trying to get information from Ezera Munro and Tarlia Black in regards to the location where the rest of the Rebellion are hiding, which means that you are all on high alert, as I said before Selaria is to be protected from everyone.” Elder Zarconian says urgently.
“What about classes, it’s going to be a little strange that Selaria has four Protectors with her?” One of the Protectors asks, I don’t know who he is, but he doesn’t sound like the other two that spoke to me earlier.
“I don’t care what any of the students think, her safety is adamant and you are to even protect her against Marcus.” Elder Zarconian says with a lot of force, but manages to keep his voice down.
“But he’s her Personal Trainer.” The other Protector says, and judging by his voice he is either Scottish or Irish. I’m not good with those two accents.
“He might be her Personal Trainer, but I don’t want a repeat of what happened when she went home to pack her things.” Elder Zarconian says sounding frustrated. “Now that you all know what you have to do and the timetable for everything I’m going to see what Selaria wants and make sure that she is ok.” And I hear him coming toward the door.
I run toward the lounge and only make it as Elder Zarconian walks into the room. I can tell that he isn’t happy, but he puts on his creepy looking smile as if nothing is wrong.
“Shall we sit?” Elder Zarconian asks gesturing toward the seats.
“Yeah, that would be great.” I say hoping I don’t sound out of breath.
“So I hear that you love the apartment, but if there is anything that you want changed or added, don’t hesitate to ask.” He says sounding way too cheerful.
“Thank you, but I don’t think I would want to change anything, it’s amazing.” I say, but I know why I want to talk to him and it isn’t to idle chit chat. “I heard that there is another member of the Rebellion here.” I continue hoping to sound curious and not suspicious.
“Yes there is, but there is nothing you need to worry about, they won’t hurt you here.” He says sounding just as curious, but now for a whole different reason.
“I know, I’m just a little confused as to why they are here.” I say hoping that I am just sounding curious and he won’t question why I am talking about it.
And it is at that point that I am able to get through his barrier in his mind so I can find out where he is holding Ezera and Tarlia. But I know that I have to keep him distracted so I can locate that memory.
“They are still here so we can get information out of them in regards to the Rebellion.” He says sounding serious and tilting his head slightly to the side.
I can see that they are in some sort of dungeon, and to get to them I am going to need a couple of passwords, handprints and DNA. This is not going to be easy, but I didn’t expecting it to be.
“Oh ok.” I say and look down at my hands, hoping he will think I am doing this to try and get out of talking about something else.
“Was that all you wanted to talk to me about?” He asks taking the bait.
“Well it’s just that I have this whole place to myself and I was wondering why.” I say looking into his eyes and realising that he didn’t even notice that I had been in his head, which gives me the idea to do it again.
“I thought it would be a good idea to put you here so you could have a place to call your own.” He says smiling at me.
But what I see in his mind is something entirely different. He wants to keep me closer because he can see that I could be really powerful and he wants me to think that he will always be there for me and that I will do anything he asks because of everything he is doing for me.
“Thank you, I really do appreciate it.” I say a little unnerved by it and wonder if I should say something to Marcus about it.
“No, I think we should just go ahead and tell your mother.” I hear Godric say.
He had been quiet since I got to my new room. Irinduma thinks the same as Godric, which isn’t surprising, since I have also been trying to figure out how to tell my mother about the link that Godric and I have.
“You are very welcome, and don’t forget if there is anything you need, just let me know.” He says rising from the chair.
“There is one thing.” I say standing as well. “I know that I’ll be having a few days off because of what Twisha had me do, but I was thinking I could do Personal Training tomorrow, but out of the classes until the next week.” I continue wondering if he will go for it.
“I don’t know.” He says with a slight look of concern on his face, which doesn’t seem to look easy for him to master.
“I’m sure Marcus will only have me doing light stuff until I feel up to doing the harder stuff.” I say hoping he will allow me to keep doing the Personal Training. “And if I have the rest of the week off, I can come back here after training and rest.” I continue hoping that it will sway him.
He seems to think about it for a while and then he says. “Ok, but on one condition, if you feel that you can’t do anything, you stop and don’t even try to do it.”
“I will, I promise.” I say happy that I’ll be able to see Marcus tomorrow.
Godric is happy about that as well, because we both know that Marcus might be able to help us figure out a way to tell my mother about the link Godric and I have.
“Well then you better get your rest for tomorrow.” He says and starts walking toward the door.
“I will, thank you.” I say and start to follow him.
“It’s ok, the Protectors will lock the door after me.” He says smiling his evil smile.
“Awesome, well good night.” I say and walk toward my room. When I get there he is gone.
