ALEXA’S POV.

Life lately has been peaceful; there was no one yelling and abusing me; Lex was colder than an ice cube ever since he got the news about my pregnancy; he was rarely at home, but he made sure Lola was taking good care of me; Tina was not happy about the recent development and she was frustrated; she thought my pregnancy was a threat to her union with Lex.

I came out of the room one morning to have breakfast, and by the time I got downstairs, the table was already set, but it was empty. I walked gracefully and sat on it, and Lola served me Belgian waffles with fresh fruit juice. Tina was on her phone, and when she saw me sitting and eating at the dining table, she was exasperated.

“What the hell? What are you doing here?

"Eating, of course.

“What gave you the right to sit at the table?

“Well, I am carrying Lex’s child, and he said I can do whatever I like.

“I am calling Lex right now; I cannot stand this rubbish.

Tina was so upset that she dialed Lex’s number, which rang for a few seconds before he finally picked up the call.

“Lex, you told me this b***h was going to stay in her lane; why is she sitting at the dining table and having breakfast?

“Calm down, Tina; I am a few minutes away from the house.

“I cannot wait for that long because my patience is running out. I might do something crazy!!

“Don't do anything stupid; I will be home soon.

Deep down in my heart, I was so excited that Lex didn't take her side, but I kept a straight face.

“You better not get used to this; I am sure you got pregnant for one of your broke boyfriends, and you want to pin it on Rex. Your plans will not work; Lex is mine and you cannot take him away from me.

“If he is truly yours, you won't feel intimidated.

“How dare you speak back at me?

Tina raised her hand to hit me, but I didn't flinch. Her hand was held mid-air and when I turned to look who it was, it was Lex.

“Get a hold of yourself, Tina; do you want to hit a pregnant woman?

“You are unbelievable; I cannot believe you are taking her side.

"Lola, serve me breakfast!!

Lex didn't say a word about me or Tina; he sat down and waited for his breakfast. At this point, I was already uncomfortable; I was still scared of Lex, and I wasn't sure what game he was playing. I sat in my seat quietly, and after I was done with my breakfast, I stood up to leave, but Lex called me back.

“Alexa, hold on.

I shivered at the mention of my name. I sat down quickly to hear what Lex had to say. He was on his phone, and when he put his phone down, mine beeped. I picked up my phone to see who messaged me, and I saw that it was a credit alert from Lex; he sent me $2 million.

“You can go shopping for your baby items and use the rest to do whatever you like.

I was speechless. I had butterflies in my stomach, but something in me was telling me that it was a trap. I still didn't believe Lex would change because I got pregnant for him when it was clearly stated on the contract that I could not get pregnant.

“Thank you so much; this would go a long way. I have a doctor’s appointment; I have to get going.

“Alright.

I stood up, left the dining room, and headed upstairs to change. I removed the clothes I was wearing and tried to change into something else, and I noticed my baby bump. I rubbed my tummy in a circular motion.

“I cannot wait to meet you guys.

I was talking and smiling to my unborn children when the door opened, and Tina walked in and banged the door behind her. I quickly grabbed something and covered my body.

“You w***e!! Do you think you can take my place in Lex’s life? I am here to warn you to stay in your lane because I will crush you.

“Please leave my room; I do not want trouble.

“You instigated a battle with me the moment you came back to this house with that baby in your womb, let me see how you will have that baby—not under my watch.

Tina left the room without allowing me to say another word. I was no longer feeling safe in the house, so I left and the next number I dialed was the doctor’s number.

"Hello, doctor, I am about to leave the house and come to your office. I do not feel safe in this house anymore.

“Hi Alexa, You can come to my house; I am not on shift today.

“Great!! That would give us enough time to talk.

I went outside the house, and my guards were not around. I collected the car keys from the driver and drove out of the house. I drove to the doctor’s house because she was the only one I could confide in; she was the only person who could keep me safe. I got to her house, and she welcomed me with open arms.

“I am so excited to see you today. What should I offer you?

“Water is fine.

“Nah, I cannot give you water; this is your first time in my house. I made fresh orange juice specially for you.

“Alright, I will have that.

The doctor went into her kitchen and came back with the orange juice. I gulped the whole content because I was patched.

“Tina threatened me this morning, Doctor. I am so scared for my life. What if she decides to attack me in my sleep?

My doctor was awkwardly silent, and she fixed her gaze on me.

“You ain't saying anything?

I was about to speak further when I felt a sharp pain in my stomach. It felt like my organs were twisting into a knot.

“I am sorry, Alexa; I just had to do it.

It was at this point that it dawned on me that the only person I trusted the most betrayed me. I fell flat to the ground, and as I was crawling with my tummy trying to reach the door, I felt a warm sensation down my legs, and when I looked back, I saw blood flowing out of me. At this point, I couldn't tell if I was dead or not.
