TIFFANY
Within moments of hanging up the phone, Mom used a transportation spell to get to me. After seeing the state of Ruby and deducing it came from a magical source, we didn’t call the hospital. Instead, she called all the moms, and Bella. Within an hour, we had both generations together.
“Do you know what’s wrong with her?” I asked Sherie, Ruby’s mom, who was waving her hands over her daughter, analyzing the problem, white sparkling magic coursing over Ruby’s body.
My mom stepped up next to me and squeezed my hand. “We don’t know, honey. Sherie’s doing a spell to stabilize Ruby, but from what we can tell the pregnancy is, um, draining the life out of her.”
I spun around and stared at her, aghast. “Are you telling me the baby’s killing her?”
