We ate breakfast with Doug. Doug couldn’t keep his eyes off Todd. Mainly because Todd ate his Cheerios in nothing but a pair of my jammies. No top, just bottoms. I kicked Doug beneath the table. “Eat,” I told him. He coughed. “Trying to.” I kicked him again as he continued staring. “Try harder.” We finished eating. Todd drove home. I had classes to go to. Doug had work. Life rolled along, even though I felt like I was at a standstill. I met Doug later that night as he was closing up shop. “Craig found something on that lab computer,” I told him. I filled him in on what I knew, which was little to nothing. “You should stick with that Todd guy,” he replied. “Based on what I know about that ex of yours, I like this one better.” I grinned. “So I noticed.
