"Lock her up!" Jax said, his voice void of warmth, staring dagger at me.
"What?!" I looked at Jax in disbelief… this has to be a joke, right?!
"Jax, you can't be serious! You literally just marked me a few minutes ago, in front of the entire clan. Why are you blaming me! I'm your Luna," I said, angry tears filling my eyes.
"You should have thought of that before hurting your sister." He replied.
“ hurting her? She took my father's urn! What does that have to do with you? Huh? Why do you care?"
He stood closer to me, towering over me, his face twisted in disgust ,
"It's Alpha Jax to you," he said, turning his back to me then walking to Olivia who was still in tears, throwing her his suit jacket, then leaving the room.
Two guards rushed in, pulling me out of the room.
"Serves her right!"
"What an evil sister."
"Olivia could be at fault!"
"Yes, she was admitted to the psych ward about a year ago."
"No way! Maya is evil!"
Comments flew all over the place but their judgement had already been carried.
While the guards held me and tried to pull me out,I heard Olivia's voice ring out.
"Wait! I would like to talk to my sister," she said, looking all innocent like an angel… definitely not a demon incarnate.
The guards brought me to her, she stood up and came to my ear.
"Oh! Sister, you can't keep a man, and this is just the beginning! I am going to destroy your worthless little life," she said in a way only we could say. Then she withdrew herself with her fake practised tears.
I stared at her hard, very hard, hatred and anger steadily rising in my chest as tears continued rolling down my eyes.
The guards didn't waste another minute, they pulled me out, pushing through the crowd who were slapping and pushing me, all yelling insulting words to me.
I turned back to see Jax, watching me being humiliated just after marking me. My heart swelled in immense pain, my chest tightening in pure agony.
This is the man that loved me since we were in our early stages of our teenage years.
Tears stung my eyes, because I'm innocent. This always happened while we were growing up. The devil herself is always right and I'm wrong!
I was pulled from the room all the way to the underground dungeon where prisoners and captives were kept, I was thrown into one of the cells, locked in, then the guards left.
I stared at the ground, tears streaming continuously from my eyes. I touched my neck where Jax had just marked me. It ached faintly as I closed my eyes, remembering the day years ago when Jax marked me secretly before we were fated mates.
I remembered the promises he made to me, my eyes reddened as the memories of his promises flooded my brain. I withdrew myself to a corner of the cell.
"Does he even love me?"
"He literally just made us public and he's doing this? He throws me in a dungeon because of Olivia? My sister?! He believes her over me!" I closed my eyes, allowing myself to drown in my pain, immense sorrow clouding my brain.
I cried and balled my eyes out while I drifted off to sleep.
Meanwhile Jax was going mad. He was bound to his bed because he was losing control, his mate was in pain… I was in pain and he was feeling it and wanted to meet me, to save me, to say sorry, to apologise, to make things right but the clan elders had him bound to a metal chair.
"I have to see her. She's in so much pain!" Jax cried, struggling harder.
"Alpha Jax, it's for your own good. A good and reputable Luna is good for your image. Maya is not a good match for you!" one elder, (Teddy) said, crossing his arms behind him.
"I don't care. Maybe you should fight against the moon goddess’ wishes. It seems to me you have forgotten, she's not only my first love but she's also my fated mate by the moon goddess," Jax said through gritted teeth. Veins popping out strong on his head, his eyes red, his heart aching in rhythm with mine, the mate bond, causing him to ache. The elders stared at him unmovingly.
"It's for your own good." And with that they left, leaving Jax bound to the metal chair, yelling and screaming to them to release him.
Kelly watched from the side, her eyes never leaving the elders, she scoffed then walked through the hallway, passing by Olivia's room, then she stopped by, looking through Olivia door which was left slightly open, she saw Olivia sitting on the bed holding an urn that looked like my father's urn.
She paused, she was not mistaken then took a better look. She took out her phone and burst into Olivia's room, her phone up recording. Olivia looked shocked trying to hide the urn behind.
"I'm not stupid! Kelly said ". Why do you have Maya's father's urn?” She was met with silence.
Olivia twisting her fingers nervously, probably thinking of what to say.
" You staged the whole thing. She never hit you, nor did she smash your necklace... you framed her." Kelly said, carefully closing in on Olivia.
Olivia shook her head profusely…
“No! no! no! no! I… I found it! I… “ she stuttered.
Beads of sweat formed on her forehead as she stared directly at the phone.
Kelly stopped the recording then showed it to Olivia.
"You will tell Jax what you have done. Or else I will show him myself." Olivia nodded vigorously.
"But... but umm... He's bound by the elders..." Olivia stuttered, playing with her fingers. Kelly stared at her in disgust, anger steadily growing in her chest.
"Or maybe I should share it to the entire world to see the kind of monster you are." Kelly said waving the phone in Olivia's face. Olivia shook her head in fear.
"I... I'll do it, please." Olivia begged. Kelly took the urn and stuffed it in her pocket.
They both walked out of the room together, Olivia walking in obvious fear, Kelly shook her head.
"Who would have known you, Olivia would do all this evil! You didn't even deny it!"
They both stopped at Jax's door. Kelly tried to open the door but Olivia blocked her.
"Let me go in alone." Olivia said trying to put on an appearance to look strong, Kelly waved her phone at her then leaned on the wall by the door.
Olivia arranged her hair then she walked into the room, looking small and pitiful, she carefully walked to Jax, then crouched to his level, whispering in his ears ; Kelly stood by the door, placing her ear to the door to hear what
Olivia was saying but she barely heard anything.
After what seemed like hours, Olivia came out crying, her hair disheveled, her dress slightly ripped on the shoulder. Kelly looked bored , not interested in her current look.
"What did he say?" Kelly asked, crossing her arms over her chest.
With her pathetic look, Olivia let out loose sobs;
"I begged him to spare me and release Maya. He said he's not angry about that incident, he said he was just angry that she took out her anger wrongly on a member of the clan..."
Kelly stared gravely at her, she turned away and left. Oliva wiped her tears and stared at Kelly.
"What a fool!" Olivia scoffed and left.
“Soon I will have Jax, then my plan will be in full motion.”
I heard footsteps, walking towards my cell. I had lost track of time. There was no single source of light in the cell so I could have been in that cell for many days but I didn't know, I didn't care.
All I knew was that a lot had changed in me. I sat in the corner then I watched a figure walk towards me.
I recognized it instantly, it was Kelly. She tossed my father's urn to me. I caught in a swift motion my eyes glued to the ground.
"Thanks" I muttered, tucking it in my arm. She stood two seconds longer then leaves.
I held up the urn and smiled weakly.
"Oh father, we made a mistake. He's not the one!" I said to my father's urn holding it dear to my heart.
I looked up at the ceiling, took a deep breath in and out then closed my eyes, letting myself drown in the darkness.
Days passed in a breeze and something had shifted in me, I didn't feel the ache of being away from Jax as I used to.
Not long after, I heard them, rushed foot moving fast towards my cell. I remained calm waiting with my eyes closed, then the sound of keys unlocking the cell, a small smile crept on my lips as the cell gate flew open.
I stood up, dusted my dress, walked past the guards and walked into Jax with his bloodshot eyes staring at me with Olivia behind him. I looked at him, Seriously, his wrists were bruised, his eyes puffy and sleep deprived, he looked like he hadn't slept in days.
He tried to look strong and controlling, he tried to say something but I cut him off.
"How long?" I asked a simple question very short and direct.
"What?" He asked, confused.
"How long?" I asked, pointing to the cell.
He looked up, a flash of guilt crossing his eyes, he cleared his throat
"Twelve days."
"Twelve days!" I repeated nodding my head, I walked past him to see Olivia's smiling ear to ear. She tried to talk but I held my finger up to not hear her irritating piglet voice.
Jax suddenly held my shoulder, studying my neck like he was searching for something then dread washed over him.
“Where's my mark?!!"
